Temperatures in some areas soaring well into the triple digits. The extreme heat is being blamed for at least four deaths in arizona. Two hikers in tucson and another two in phoenix today rescuers in phoenix brought another hiker down to safety. Temperatures there close to 120 degrees. Hot weather, only complicating the efforts to fight the wildfires in southern california. In the Angeles National forest, a car crash that sparked the so called reservoir fire this morning has all ready charred more than 1200acres. And heres a live look at the reservoir fire now from the city. It has exploded in size over the past few hours. You can see its sent massive flames and smoke pouring into the sky. Meanwhile, Santa Barbara county, not much better. Firefighters making a little head way battling the so called sherpas fire thats burned 12 square miles. That fire started wednesday. The last check, it was about 54 contained. A massive five in San Franciscos Outer Mission left nearly 60 people homeless. The five alarm fire broke out saturday afternoon at 29th and mission. Kpix 5 reporter mark kelly learned new details on where the fire started and the businesses that will have to be torn down. Down. Pak this buildingcole hardwar shop in the outer this building, a beloved shop in the Outer Mission neighborhood is where fire investigators said this weekends blaze sparked. That was to the exact spot where that fire occurred in that building. Thats still under investigation. It could have broken out in Cole Hardware or above the store in one of the apartments. Investigators wont say just yet. They also wont give an official cause. But they did say today that the smoke alarms and sprinklers work just fine in all five of the buildings hit. That was indicated by multiple sprinkler heads going off. Thats something that our investigators are trained to determine. And they did determine that. Saturdays fire left 58 people without a home. And seven businesses trying to figure out how to get back on their feet. Todays meeting is to work with Business Owners to find out and assess what their needs are. Robert sanchezs restaurant, a family run place for two decades will have to be torn down. It happened sunday night around 8 30 at gill man playground in the bayview neighborhood. Police say two girls ages 11 and 13 were mugged by the gang of boys. Both were treated for minor injuries. The victims told police the oldest suspect appeared to be 16 or 17. While his eight other accomplices look to be about 9 or 10. A neighbor and his friend are being credited with saving a san rafael woman from being stabbed to death. The rescue happened on saturday morning. Police say a 40yearold man was attacking his exgirlfriend with pruning sheers. Bill was outside with a friend when they heard her screaming. His friend jumped the fence, pinning him down while he helped the woman. She was taken to the hospital with stab wounds. In the wake of the orlando shooting, city leaders in San Francisco are working hard to ensure pride week goes off without a hitch. But a difference this year is that people are being encouraged to not bring bags. Its a celebration theyve been planning for six months but in light of what happened in orlando last week, security measures have been taken even more seriously. Cbs reporter on the chilling transcripts of those calls. Reporter orlando gunman omar mateen identified himself as an islamic soldier and told a crisis negotiator to tell america to stop bombing syria and iraq. And thats why he was out here right now. On monday, the fbi released a printed transcript of the three calls between mateen and hostage negotiators during the rampage and a 911 call. Were not releasing the audio, what i can tell you is that while the killer made these murderous statements, he did so in a chilling, calm, and deliberate manner. Reporter mateen said there was a car with bombs outside the scene at the pulse nightclub and you people are going to get it and im going to ignite it if they try to do anything stupid. Some parts of the conversations were initially blacked out. Including mateens pledge to isis. The department of justice released a nonredacted version. Still city officials refuse to release hundreds of other 911 calls they say out of respect for the victims families. Orlando police say theyre defending themselves from criticism for how they responded to the shooting. The chief is not ruling out the possibility some of if victims were shot by officers during the frantic search. Thats part of the investigation. But those killings are on the suspect. U. S.
