I just want to show that the district the district more than anything else, keep these things that are important for us. Reporter it all began earlier this month when a jewish mother complained to the district about the santa field trip. It is not an approach. Activity in a public school. It is completely [ indiscernible ] for families to do on their own time and if these parents want to take their kids to see santa on their own time, thats great. Reporter in fact, talia showed us these photos from yesterday of an activity that she helped organize that featured holiday celebrations from different cultures. Rainfall, we have some in the forecast. Steady but not constant. No one event will cause widespread flooding. Not the case. We are not going to see flooding rainfall. That said, there are four different weather systems that will get here between now and christmas that will give us a quarter inch to half inch at a minimum. Heres how precise hidef Doppler Radar is. You get south of the golden gate bridge, basically right over crissy field, it is raining. But you head down lombard street and when you get about 10 blocks east, no rain. No rain in brisbane. Rain in daly city but not the sunset district so its not just raining in San Francisco. We can see specifically the cells over the city right now. It is raining in orinda and right over the caldecott tunnel. It is raining in berkeley and richmond, but not yet for downtown oakland, lake merritt, youre dry and not yet for walnut creek just minutes away. And there it is. There is the steady stuff that will be moving into San Francisco and oakland over the next couple of hours. Currently it is in napa county, solano county, Sonoma County, and marin county. And its just coming down in novato, petaluma, san anselmo, mill valley, fairfax. Its raining steadily and its coming south. We are soggy at the golden gate mainly cloudy 58 degrees there. Santa rose soggy today 52. Still waiting for the rain. Its going to be a couple more hours, san jose, before you get it, 58 degrees with cloudy skies there. The pattern that is developing now is a pattern that we will continue to talk about from now until christmas for the next week. This huge pool of cold and unstable air here will fire wave after wave of rainfall in our direction giving us several rain chances over the next several days. The first of which is whats moving through right now. So we are going to stay unstable for a while. But the steadiest rainfall that we may see over the next several days is whats outside now. Lets time it out. 10 00 tonight its concord, walnut creek and martinez with some steady rainfall. San jose it will be raining for you at 10 00 and 11 00 clock tonight. Even some scattered showers throughout the morning tomorrow but then we get a break saturday afternoon, were dry. Dry all the way until sunday morning. But look at what quickly moves in sunday morning. The next round of rainfall. And by sunday afternoon, critical if youre a football fan, 9ers home. The raiders are at home. And now the forecast has changed. The rain will likely get here early enough to have a soggy Football Game in both santa clara and oakland at o. Co comes. Next week, unstable coliseum. Next week unstable air from the gulf of alaska. We will have an additional inch of rainfall in the bay area, no flooding but another series of soakers. Just to the north we are talking five inches of rainfall from Mendocino County and point north. So the flooding stuff stays away. But the steady soaking rain will arrive. So its not going to rain all weekend long. If you want to time it out over the weekend it will be wet tomorrow morning. It will be wet sunday afternoon. But tomorrow night will actually be quite dry when you wake up sunday dry, as well. Highs tomorrow 50s. Napa 53. Fremont 56. San jose 57. Extended forecast looks very ominous because, yes, five days of the next seven chance of rain but no one day will be a starttofinish washout and no one storm looks like its going to be flooding. So this right there is awesome. Thats the bestcase scenario. Is that santa . And santa claus that makes the forecast even more awesome. Does he have an umbrella . You know, rudolph may need some type of hightech get through the rain gear to make sure he makes it here on time Christmas Morning which he will. Google is probably inventing it right now. Millions of americans will be traveling for christmas and new years. Odds are that some prefer to stay in a hotel than on a relatives couch. I think so. Consumerwatch reporter julie watts has a few Hotel Secrets that could make next week the cheapest week of the year to book a room. Reporter tis the season for travel. What do you think that does to hotel prices . At least 20 or 30 higher. I would think higher. Reporter actually, the last two weeks of december can be the lowest priced weeks of the year. That is surprising. I dont know if i would believe that. Reporter well, Michael Weber says, believe it he is the director of sales the best western and executive inn near jack london square. Its busy when the corporate world has all the road warriors staying at our property. They are all at home during the holidays. Theres a lot more opportunity to get a nice room at a great price. Reporter another secret to snagging a great deal . Book a few miles outside the city. For instance, a room at this marriott in miami is 169 a night. While just 7 miles away the same room at this marriott only 119. I would love to be in the middle of things. So its worth the extra premium to be here. Reporter well, if booking outside the city isnt for you, then try switching up how you book your room. Third party sites are fine to gauge prices. But weber says, dont book online. They fill a vital need for hotels. They give us publicity but in terms of a deal, getting an extra benefit, call the Hotel Directly. Reporter he says for the best deals and better rooms call the Hotel Directly and ask them to beat online prices or give you an upgrade for free. I wish i would have known that. [ laughter ] reporter thats good advice for buying airline tickets, too. You can use those Third Party Booking Sites to compare prices but then book directly with the carriers. One benefit there if you need to make changes or cancel its easier to deal direct with the airline. Really . Yeah. The key here, Business Hotels or hotels that cater to business travelers, and yeah, you can book directly through the hotel. They generally give the Third Party Sites the rooms they cant book otherwise. So the best rooms to hang on to for themselves. Might be good for the family dynamics, too. Not too late to book a hotel. [ laughter ] well be right back. ,, come on in pop pop. Happy birthday. I just had a heart attack. And now i have a choice. For her. For them. And him. A choice to take brilinta. A prescription for people whove been hospitalized for a heart attack. I take brilinta with a baby aspirin. No more than 100 mg. As it affects how well it works. Its such an important thing to do to help protect against another heart attack. Brilinta worked better than plavix. And even reduced the chances of dying from another one. Dont stop taking brilinta without talking to doctor. Since stopping it too soon increases your risk of clots in your stent, heart attack, stroke, and even death. Brilinta may cause bruising or bleeding more easily or serious, sometimes fatal bleeding. Dont take brilinta if you have bleeding, like stomach ulcers. A history of bleeding in the brain, or severe liver problems. Tell your doctor about bleeding, new or unexpected shortness of breath, any planned surgery and all medicines you take. I will take brilinta today. Tomorrow. And every day for as long as my doctor tells me. Dont miss a day of brilinta. Great change comes from doing the right thing. Like the radical idea that health isnt an industry. Its a cause. So we do things differently. We combine care and coverage. And believe prevention is the most powerful of cures. So forgive us for not going with the flow. We just think the flow should go with us. Which makes us rebels with one cause. Your health.
