They opened fire on a Holiday Party killing 14 people. At they also found 19 pipes in the couples home that could be turned into bombs and we learned that county workers at the Inland Regional Center where the killings happened took part in an active Shooter Drill last year in the same room as last weeks attack. Reporter the fbi briefed the media today and the fbi says this is a massive investigation. So far federal agents have interviewed more than 400 people and have collected more than 300 pieces of evidence. We have learned and believe that both subjects were radicalized and have been for quite some time. Reporter investigators have interviewed hundreds of people while intelligence agents look for clues in pakistan and saudi arabia where malik lived before moving to the u. S. The fbi is also combing through ed seized from this evidence seized from this home that belonged to syed farooks home enrique marquez. Agents traced two assault rifles in the shooting to marquez who reportedly checked himself into a Psychiatric Hospital after the attack. We are wanting to determine how these firearms got from marquez to farook and malik. Reporter while the investigation continues, the community here in San Bernardino is doing its best to restore a sense of security and normalcy. Thousands of San Bernardino county workers are back to work just five days after the shooting. To honor them, to express our gratitude for their unimaginable sacrifice. We have to fight to maintain that ordinary. Reporter the social Services Center where the shooting occurred last wednesday remains closed as this nearby memorial grows each day. Ar . And employees at the Inland Regional Center where the shooting happened are expected to return to work next week. Kpix5s devin fehely is at one of them in campbell tonight. Devin . Reporter organizers say they expect between 75 and 100 people to attend tonights candlelight vigil. As you can see, there is already a small group that has begun to gather here lighting candles. This is a ceremony of remembrance for the victims in Southern California and many of the people in attendance tonight are members of the very same union as those victims. They say that they hope this ceremony will send a message of solidarity and support. Were hoping, of course, to remember all the people that perished in that horrible act and to show solidarity really with the union people that were a union shop here inland and the people that died, its just tragic. Reporter as you can see, this is a live look. There is an estimated 30 to 40 people already here at this planned candlelight vigil. Prosecutors in chicago have decided not to file criminal charges against a Police Officer who shot and killed a black man last year. Authorities say dashcam video shows Ronald Johnson was armed with a gun at the time of the shooting. The video shows johnson running away from officers. Johnsons mother says she is upset charges were not filed against the officer. Im not going to stop trying to get what i want for him and thats justice because if that had been anybody in her family that got killed like that, that officer would have been charged with murder. Officers say they recovered a pistol in his right hand. The state Attorney Says the actions of the officer were reasonable and permissible under illinois law. That decision comes as the city is still dealing with the fallout from another Deadly Police shooting. Laquan mcdonald was shot 16 time while walking away from a Police Officer. That officer is facing murder charges. Today the Justice Department announced it will launch a civil rights probe into mcdonalds case. Paying the price for blinding pilots, a string of laser strikes at bay area sheriffs helicopters. New video shows just how quickly the suspects got busted in their own backyard. In this video they provided to us, you can see what happens when those green lasers hit the aircraft and they tell me its extremely dangerous for the pilots on board. In this case pin point susp each case the three separate occasions the star helicopter was struck by a green laser pointer multiple times while flying over antioch and pittsburg. This video shows what happened. The cockpit suddenly lights up with a bright green light. Investigators say the light can cause the pilot and crew members to become disoriented and even lose their night vision for several minutes. What happened to the crew specifically . Did they get that blinding effect . They did and it wasnt just a one time incident. It continued to happen as you saw on the video. It was a constant laser strike from the offenders on the ground. Reporter in this case the suspects were standing in a front yard aiming the green laser directly at the Law Enforcement chopper. This was in darkness and we were able to see them clear as day with our forward looking infrared camera, our flare, who they were and where they were coming from. Reporter the 4. 5 million star helicopter can fly more than 135 miles an hour. It uses infrared technology for night searches, can help fighting fires and perform rescues and in this instance pinpoint suspects to make arrests. In each case the suspects were located using stars forward looking infrared and mapping technology. From the sky you can see a number of agents going to the house to make an arrest. How soon after were you able to arrest them . Within minutes. They were still committing the act when the officers moved in for the arrest. Teacher contract talks have stalled since october, but the district says its current offer is plenty and brings the average teachers salary to more than 81,000 a year.
