That was his mancave of sorts. He used to go into the garage and work on things. None of the family members had any idea that this was going to happen. They were totally shocked. Reporter the fbi admits there are parts of the case that dont make sense. But as of now, theres no evidence they were getting instructions from isis or any other terror group. So far, we have no indication that these killers are part of an organized larger group or form part of a cell. Reporter as you can see behind me right now, there are still just a crush of media. I have to say, it was a bizarre out of this world scene at this couples home. We got access inside and got an intimate look at their life. It was a chaotic scramble, one like i have never seen before. Inside the killer couples two story townhouse we found things you would expect in any other home. Baby activity gear, unfinished food, a college id card, and a computer workstation. There were signs of the muslim faith, a koran on the coffee table, a tapestry with arabic writing and as islamic childrens book. The upstairs bedroom had books on islam tossed about on the bed. Of course, there was evidence that fbi agents had been here. What were your First Impressions when you walked inside . Ha, ha, ha, this cant be happening. Its unreal. Reporter the landlord doyle miller pulled back the plywood on the entrance this morning two days after the massacre. He says he found out the killers lived in his property by watching investigators bust through it on live tv. What were your impressions of the couple . They were just a normal young couple. Thats all i can say be cleancut, courteous. Reporter he says they moved in, in may and paid 1,200 a month in rent. Take a look. This is the crib where presumably that 6monthold baby girl slept. Down here you can see a suitcase full of new shoes unopened toys and over there, boxes of pampers. Reporter downstairs, the fbi left an inventory of what it had taken from the home including a. 22caliber rifle and ammunition, things that would have sat next to seemingly normal personal belongings. Here in the kitchen, there are a lot of ordinary items that you may find in a home with young children, baby formula, theres pepto bismol, unwashed dishes, in the cabinets, canned pineapple. Walk over here with me. Check out their refrigerator. There is a calendar from an Islamic Center and right here at the top a magnet that says San Francisco. So of course there is a lot of confusion and questions about the medias presence here. The fbi today said that they have completed their investigation at the property and once they turn it back over to the owner, pretty much at that point, anything goes. The landlord told me that police said it was okay for all of the journalists to be here, eventually the property was again boarded up. Allen . Betty, know theres a bit of a delay but i want to ask you about the attorneys for farooks family. Earlier they said some of his coworkers made fun of him for his beard. Were they suggesting that could have set him off . Reporter were definitely getting a clearer picture of farook. His attorney said that he did not have a lot of friends and that he was, yes, made fun of at work because of his beard. At this point, we cant make an immediate tie. One of the major questions is whether Tashfeen Malik radicalized her husband. Ken bastida joins us now with a closer look at her background. What did you find out . Reporter relatives have described them as the happy couple. Never showed any signs of being, you know, um, islamic fanatics, whatever that is. This is a couple that registered at target before their sixmonthold daughter was born. They were outwardly as normal as anybody. But new clues are coming out about the woman who pledged loyalty to isis. Her name Tashfeen Malik, 29 years old, born in pakistan, grew up in saudi arabia. But she went back to pakistan for college. She met her husband online and they got engaged in 2013 in saudi arabia. She came back with farook to the u. S. On whats called a k1 fiancee visa which requires rigorous screening. So she had to sit down with feds. There had to be conversations. This is the couples marriage license. They were married in 2014 in riverside county. Both listing their religion as muslim. She got a green card after passing a background check. They checked her out. Farooks sister called her brother quiet and shy and said she had no idea what motivated the rampage. I ask myself if i had called him that morning or the night before, asked him how he was doing, what he was up to, if i had any inclination maybe i could have stopped it. You have to remember this is their family. These are not strangers people that knew them, knew them every day. They are looking into their overseas contacts, weapons or terror training while in pakistan. 56 people are charged with supporting isis. They popped up on the feds radar according to a report on George Washington university. Most are men. Women are taking an increasingly prominent role in the jihad. We get to a point where, you know, people say, they were normal. They did nothing out of the ordinary. And clearly this was well hidden because and the fbi backs it up by saying it doesnt make sense. Maybe it never will. Maybe not. Ken, thank you. An incredible story of survival now from inside the massacre. Food inspector Patrick Bakari shared a cubicle with farook. They also shared a table at the Holiday Party before farook abruptly left. He was in the sink when farook came back. He felt a puff of drywall on the over side of the wall.
