Witnesses tell me as a father and his fiveyearold son left the store around 7 45 last night another car pulled up and started shooting. Witnesses heard 10 to 15 shots. I told my children to hide and duck and cover. Reporter its got to be scary. Yeah. Because bullets can go through our windows. Reporter Rosie Martinez lives across the street from the shooting. She and her children are shaken up but says shootings are common here. She feels terrible for the father and son. Kind of scary, you know, youre like you dont want to go out. In your house and go out for what you into he had to go out for and thats it. Reporter police say the father was shot in the throat area making it hard for him to talk to investigators. At least one bullet also hit the 5yearold. Doctors believe both will survive. We take it to heart when a 5 yearold is shot. Nobody that age deserves to get caught up in gunfire or gunplay. Reporter the coowner of the liquor store on south 37th street says just before the shooting, the victims came in to buy food. He was a nice little kid. He was very energized. He walked in the store trying to get a milkshake. Reporter the store owner and neighbors are outraged. Angry and and i feel so sad. Reporter police say a City Surveillance camera posted at the intersection captured the shooting. They are not releasing the footage and no one has been arrested. Richmond police dont have a motive in the shooting. They dont know if this was random or targeted. They say the area where it happened has seen an uptick in gangrelated shootings. New at 5 00, a San Francisco judge has ruled a set of frozen embryos belonging to an estranged couple must be destroyed. Mimi lee and Steven Findley signed an agreement while they were married to discard the five embryos if they split up. Lee was later diagnosed with cancer. Investigators say that this Human Trafficking operation appears to have gone on for as long as 5 years with many of its victims being forced to work for free. Investigators say the suspects trapped their six victims in a form of modern day slavery paying them either next to nothing or nothing at all while forcing them to work at their restaurant and salon. They came here from spain. They were here on vacation. And then they were forced to work with either no pay, paying off a debt, or they were given minimum wages. Reporter the Santa Clara County Sheriffs Office arrested Business Owners pedro barea reeva and his wife esther as well as their Business Manager polina ofarrell, for Human Trafficking and wage theft. Investigators who say they were tipped off to the scheme this summer say the trafficking operation appears to date back to 2011. Were still looking into how they were forced or why they were in debt to the people that ran the businesses. It started in gilroy early this morning and ended a halfhour later on 280 near the winchester boulevard exited. They were trying to stop the driver of this white honda. Officers say the driver was going more than 100 miles per hour. The chase went on for nearly 80 miles all over the south bay until the man lost control and rolled that vehicle. The 291yearold from san jose was critically injured then died at the hospital. This driver was driving at a high rate of speed and he was essentially it appeared trying to ram other vehicles. We took into account it was extremely light traffic at the time. This was an extremely dangerous driver and needed to be removed from the road. The car that the man was driving had been stolen from los banos. The female passenger survived the crash. Authorities say a cold case murder was solved. John joseph scott was arrested this week in arizona. He was the main suspect all along. But now investigators say dna evidence links him to the death of 19yearold sharon ray. Her body was found partially buried at pescadero state beach. Scott had earlier been arrested. But he was set free due to lack of evidence. Police in el cerrito are hoping a selfie leads to the arrest of a robbery suspect. This is the woman police are looking for. She is accused of knocking an El Cerrito High School student unconscious, robbing her and then stealing her cell phone. They are allowing traffic going eastbound to squeeze by there. But its going to be slow going. This of course a main artery for drivers headed to the east bay. That highway essentially shut down as i say one lane of cars squeezing by but the backup is going to be in place for quite a while and well keep an eye on it. They staged a oneday strike claiming unfair labor practices by the city. The strike involves mostly employees from Public Works Department as well as some workers from city hall and the Police Department. Quite a scare this afternoon in the south bay. A viewer sent in this video of a semi truck on fire near the highway 101 and highway 85 interchange in san jose. You can see the flames raging and the smoke billowing in the air. No word yet on the cause. The driver was not hurt. Tamales may be a holiday tradition but there is such a thing as illegal tamales. One passenger from mexico found that out. Federal investigators found 450 pork tamales in the luggage of a passenger flying into l. A. X. This month. Customs agents say the passenger admitted on his customs form that he was carrying food. But he lied about it containing meat which is illegal to bring into the country. The tamales were destroyed. The passenger was fined 1,000. An act of kindness from a pair of car thieves in virginia after they jacked a car they made an unexpected stop. The incident happened in the city of norfolk, where police say the crooks stole the car but then realized an 8yearold boy was in the back seat. The suspects asked the boy which school he attended and then they dropped him off. He was trying to be calm and and, um, he had a smile on his face and we even asked him, were you scared .
