Its the street. Reporter about two months ago a few of the homeowners closed off the road with an electric gate, cutting off free access through the development. But there is some question about who actually owns this street. Peter lay lives inside the gate but says he wants to know part of it. He says individuals are claiming ownership of the street even though assessors maps show otherwise. The road itself does not belong to anyone. In other words the properties end at the roads edge. Reporter the city says it doesnt own the street so it must be private and issued the permit to electrify the gate. But barry who lives outside the gate says the city is passing the buck. Theyve not displayed to me any evidence that the permitee owns the property upon which the gate is sitting. So therefore theyve shut down a thoroughfare.
