But when it does start raining, it is going to pour especially in the north bay especially north bay mountains, which may receive doubledigit rainfall over the next couple of days. Widespread totals in marin, napa, sonoma anywhere from 3 to 7 of rainfall so not as much as december but still a lot of rainfall likely causing some isolated flooding. Likely will not cross the golden gate until mid to late morning but look at what happens at 1 00 p. M. When the evening commute begins thats when rain will be at its heaviest in San Francisco and oakland and hayward and redwood city and palo alto heading towards san jose, as well. Kpix 5s Mike Sugerman on a safety idea that has some drivers fuming huh, mike . Reporter would it be safer streets or more traffic . Most streets in San Francisco are 25 miles an hour. Theres a move, a safety move to make em 20. Would that make them safer . Some people say yes. Driving in San Francisco doesnt allow to you speed much. Theres usually a lot of traffic. But when we can, look at the citys radar sign. We do a lot of the time. 30, 33, 31, 20. Not a lot over the 25mileper hour speed limit. Its constant. Its not that we dont trust those radar signs but just in case we have our own pocket radar gun. 31, 30, just like the street radar. Not everyone but lots of people five, six, seven miles over the speed limit which can be very dangerous. In england, they did a 20 year study reduction of 40 of the injuries because they reduced their speed limit to 20 miles an hour. Reporter San Francisco supervisor eric mar would favor reducing 25mileanhour zones to 20. Thats much of the city. Other streets might be reduced five miles an hour from whatever they are now. Driving 20 miles an hour might delay you a little bit from where youre trying to get, but if you quantify how many lives it saves and how many fewer injuries, um, i would weigh the Public Health interest above, um, personal convenience. Reporter but if your mode of transportation doesnt include a motor, you might be proposal to approve. We go on field trips, we go to the park down there, so it would be really beneficial. San jose police putting the word out about a busy thief who has broken into more than 50 cars near the san jose airport. They say 26yearold Kevin Anthony jordan has been on a tear hitting cars since october. They say he works in an area of north first street between interstate 880 and brokaw road and targets cars between the hours of 6 a. M. And 11 a. M. Police were watching the area yesterday and saw jordan but he got away. Call police if you know where he is. A warning tonight for students after a woman was sexual assaulted on the San Francisco state campus. The attack happened just after midnight not too far from the quad. The victim says that the suspect grabbed her from behind, pulled her into the bushes and pressed a sharp object against her. When she started to cry, she says the attacker told her to shut up and he ran off. She thinks that she was followed because she spotted the suspect minutes earlier by the student center. A San Francisco public defender is accusing Police Officers of misconduct for arresting her outside the courtroom. Jami tillotson wanted to know why the officers were photographing her client. She was arrested accused of obstructing police. Yesterday, police chief greg suhr told her she would not be charged and apologized for any distress that she went through. A massive breach of the nations second Largest Health insurer may have compromised as many as 80 million patient records. They can commit Social Security fraud, collecting your government benefits, Insurance Fraud preventing from you getting coverage, and, of course, they can take out loans and credit in your name. Im told that the rotunda is a good place to hold a dance although frankly i havent had the privilege of dancing there yet. But well entertain them here at city hall. Its so calm outside just fore day. If you didnt know this big storm is coming not much of a clue. Just kind of cloudy. That said, when it does begin to rain, it will pour and theres a Flash Flood Warning out for the entire north bay including marin, napa and sonoma counties. You will be measuring the rainfall in several inches coming up tomorrow. And everybody will be windy even before the rain gets here. It will be windy overnight tonight with sustained winds 25 to 40 Miles Per Hour. Some higher gusts may bring some weak trees down throughout the day tomorrow. So were wet and windy. I just showed you the radar. All the rainfall is up to the north. Remember back in december it was park over us. Its not parked over us. This time its up the road. This guy right here, this batch of low pressure, thats going to be what shoves everything through the bay area. And that shove will happen tomorrow. That is wave number one. Its going to come in two main waves tomorrow will be very wet and very windy as that rain works its way from north to south. A little bit of a break on saturday perhaps even a peek of sunshine in the afternoon with scattered showers. Wave 2 following the same path in the atmosphere will give us another soaking rainfall.
