That is where secretary of state john kerry sat down face to face with his russian counterpart. They are talking right on the same table now and thats a good sign. Kerry renewed the call for russian to send its troops back to their barracks and allow International Observers into crimea. He also pressed the Russian Foreign minister to enter into direct talks with ukraine. That didnt happen. Nor was it expected to. But kerry says the talks are showing promise. We agreed to continue intense discussions in the coming days with russia, with ukrainians, in order to see how we can help normalize the situation, stabilize it and overcome the crisis. Meanwhile pressure is mounting on the financial front. European Union Leaders plan to meet tomorrow in brussels to discuss possible economic sanctions against russia. The u. S. House is expected to follow that with its own nonbinding vote of support and thats really where its at right now. And they are talking about quite a bit of money. The European Union is offering 15 billion to ukraine as a carrot to get russia to back off. They are telling russia in the back channels that, uhm, if this diplomacy fails, all the money you have invested in europe were going to lock it up. So theres a threat on both sides financially and that may be the real wedge here the financial threat. Not the state departments rhetoric that they are dialing up. Money. Thank you. Looks like it my goodness, look outside and those clouds, theyre gorgeous but theyre very ominous. Very. Go to the head of the class. We have light rain down to santa rosa and a few sprinkles. First lets look live from san jose as we look toward the santa cruz mountains, overcast skies down there, as well. This is more of a classic system thats going to spread from north to south as the evening winds on. Boy, it was warm in san jose today though with 74 degrees for a high 69 at oakland, fremont with 67 degrees. And at napa 63, as well. Were all overcast now though and the hidef doppler is showing very widely scattered light rain not a big deal. Not yet. In fact, with this system not ever. We could get as you look at the time lapse here you can see a few little thunderbolts showing up at the northern end of almost the Sacramento Valley in the hills ringing the western edge of the Sacramento Valley and because we have that electrical activity up north, its possible we squeeze a thunderstorm or two out of this later tonight. In the meantime, as this low approaches the skies will lower and the rain will come down. Its not going to amount to much, about a fifth of an inch to half inch in the wetter spots. So wet weather returns tonight over the bay area. The good thing is we are kind of pushing it off a little bit so its not going to be in the middle of the evening commute except up north where as i say santa rosa already is getting a little bit wet. You can see by 11 00 tonight, that the main band, the front, will be extending right across the central bay area so thats at 11 00. Well have the rain on the roof as you head to bed but aside from that it should mostly clear out by commute time tomorrow morning. Streets will be slick and there could be a lingering chance of a shower or two. As we run the loop on the futurecast, how much rain we expect, not much. About a third of an inch in santa rosa. 13 in San Francisco. But by the time you get down to san jose, just. 04 rain. So not a lot but it will perhaps produce a few more little green hills out there in the bay area which are well overdue. Rain tonight then possible, thunder, leftover showers tomorrow but not much there. Temperatures tomorrow mid 60s for the most part. Extended forecast we look for a chance of showers tomorrow morning, and then by the end of the week, we are going to be looking at sunshine coming out a little bit of a chance on sunday. And then sunny and warm next week. Sound good. Thanks.
