This is highway 101 near mill valley. A common trouble spot when the high tide is in. Crews blocked off highway one the offramp this morning. Also in mill valley chp shut down the westbound lanes of miller avenue during high tide. And you can see the cars slowly crawling by in the eastbound lanes. Pg e says nearly 500 people in the bay area are without power right now. Most of those customers are in the east bay. More than 13,000 customers in the bay area lost power at the height of the storm. This is a live look at sfo where the Rainy Weather caused significant problems for travelers. An airport Spokesman Says there were 108 cancellations today both arrivals and departures. Right now, there are still delays of one to three hours. In San Franciscos sunset district, this massive tree came toppling over into the middle of the road. The 37th near lincoln. Authorities were on the scene overnight removing the tree to open the street. Also in San Francisco, this suv crashed into a home early this morning. You can see the car landed on its side near silver avenue and princeton street. The car is totaled. No one was injured. A fatal crash blocked westbound highway 24 in oakland this morning. The cars were completely crunched. One person was hospitalized and a female driver was killed just before 6 a. M. All lanes reopened about an hour later. In daly city, wet weather contributed to an accident that blocked two lanes of northbound 280 south of serramonte boulevard. The car landed on its roof on the side of the road just before 3 a. M. And a deadly crash in the east bay seemed like a rain related accident but theres a lot more to the tory. Police say this mangled pickup truck was stolen. And the accident was really part of a chase. Kpix 5 reporter ryan takeo on the owners of the vehicle who took matters into their own hands. Reporter two brothers were following the speeding truck that was heading about 70 miles an hour. It took out and hit two power poles. Heres one of them right there. Just imagine the impact that it had going 70 miles an hour. In fact, as we come back around here, crews are still here on scene. You can see Police Headed toward the truck with their guns drawn because they did not know if the suspect was alive. He was not. The 41yearold died in the crash. The evidence against them Tenderloin Hotel video showing the undercover officers barging into rooms, then in some cases allegedly intimidating and threatening suspects before stealing their computers, money and other valuables. One of the officers Attorney Says the governments case is weak because the cops are doing their job in a tough environment. Part of the job is that you cant sometimes put on a Public Relations persona when youre dealing with drug dealers and pimps and the scumbags that they have to deal with in this kind of an assignment. So, yes, these guys are are real officers dealing in very dangerous and volatile environments and they have to have a tough exterior. Reporter a second indictment accuses officer edmond robles, Sergeant Ian Furminger and another officer not in court today of stealing marriage from evidence and telling informants to sell it and split the proceeds with them. The attorney questions the validity of the accusations. I know one of those informants attempted to extort one of these officers. I have grave concerns about the reliability and the credibility of the informants in that case. Reporter attorneys for a few of the officers insist the governments case is weak. Other bay area headlines, a Hazardous Materials scare closed part of Valley Medical Center and San Jose Hospital this morning. A patient brought into the emergency room said he was exposed to an unknown chemical. The emergency room was shut down for a time. Later it was determined there was no danger. You can blame the rain for this mornings bart delays. Many trains have to run in manual mode due to slippery tracks. But the main problem was deep inside the transbay tube. Service had to be delayed because computer equipment got wet. Water seeped in through a ventilation system. Its happening. Youll pay more to cross the golden gate bridge. The board voted to start increasing tolls a dollar at first, eventually jumping to 8 by 2018. Chp has arrested four men for a freeway shooting in the east bay. The evidence was clear a series of bullet holes in the windshield of a truck. Kpix 5s da lin on what led to the quick arrests. Reporter thats right. Yeah, the chp is thank the Alameda County sheriffs deputies for spotting a suspicious vehicle last night. About two hours after that 580 shooting last night, sheriffs deputies spotted a car driving in Castro Valley and they thought it matched the description of the suspects vehicle so they called the chp. The chp went there, arrested four men inside that suspect vehicle. They found three guns, two of them confirmed stolen guns. And the chp pretty confident that those four men were involved in last nights shooting. Now, i got a chance to talk to the victims sister not too long ago. That sister telling me that both the victim and her are relieved that the four men were arrested last night. And they feel pretty confident that they can feel safe now. Coming back live now, the chp is not releasing the names of the suspects. But they say that those suspects will be charged with weapons charges and later on could be charged with shooting obviously related to that freeway shooting. Live at the chp in Castro Valley, da lin, kpix 5. Well, not just us, very heavy rain in Southern California tonight and a rescue from the surging los angeles river. Take a look at this. Crews from the citys Fire Department saved a man and two dogs from waters near dodger stadium. Firefighters got them secured and into a lifeboat. Heres another look of the same river. You can see in the time lapse video water level going up significantly in a span of a few hours. By the end the water is nearly up to the road level. Sections of Pacific Coast highway closed tonight for potential rock slides. Boulders fell on the pch narrowly missing drivers this morning. The mud slides have led to mandatory evacuations in some areas hit by recent wildfires. Jeff nguyen shows us had the situation in glendora. Reporter this is one of the spots in glendora that we have have been keeping our eyes on, because water is flowing down this area. You can see the speed at which its moving. You can see the water picking up as it passes by my foot. Now, all of this is coming from that canyon right above. It is kind of socked in right now from all of the fog. But this morning was the first time the mud flowed down the streets. The rocks were so huge, it basically took out this fence line right here. I want to give you a sense of how intense that mud floe was this morning because when you look at this lamppost, you can see just how high the mud got. Now, when you look down the street, you can see that rocks, mud and debris covering that street right there. They have had a number of bulldozers from the department of public works coming in to clear this out. The reason for that is because this is a Public Access road that leads up to some catch basins above. So they need to keep this clear. But for the folks who live in the homes right here, the last thing they want to do is to see any of this end up inside their homes. In glendora, jeff nguyen, kpix 5. The wet weather here means snow in the sierra. With blizzardlike conditions, drivers are being told to stay off the roads. And if you have to be on them, drive slowly and, of course, use chains. Good storm, nice call. This is great news. I know there are travel troubles, its slow to get from point a to point b. This is exactly what we need. Its not so much we are seeing widespread flooding but its a nice dent in the drought. Beginning of february we said we need a normal february. Up until wednesday for the previous 8 months, san jose got 2. 67 inches of rainfall. Since wednesday, the past three days, you have had 1. 63 inches of rainfall. Thats helping you out big time in the south bay. We are certainly not out of the drought. But all of this in the month of february has helped considerably. Winter weather alerts through tonight we are looking at additional snowfall anywhere from five to 20 inches depending on the elevation. Great news for skiers and the snowpack. Gusty winds and poor travel south winds to 40 miles per hour. Heading to the beach, one, youll get wet. Also south of San Francisco west swells 15 to 18 feet breakers up to 20 feet. Extreme caution anywhere south of San Francisco to monterey, High Surf Advisory in effect. All of this put together, from this one storm, and it is strong. It is a very strong very tightly wound storm. You can see it clearly rye there, that big counterclockwise swirl. Its now moving inland and will move inland to our south but remain close enough to us that well have a chance of showers, those heavier showers that you have had all day long tonight and first half of saturday. As the storm leaves tomorrow morning well dry out the rain the wind go away. Most of your weekend will be dry but High Pressure is building in to our south. Well have whats called a zonal flow which means we are going to have things moving basically from west to east and the rain no rain line will be just to our north and i wouldnt be surprised at all if throughout the week we see showers at times and cloudy and humid conditions. 11 p. M. Tonight, showers. Tomorrow morning showers. But futurecast shows bay tomorrow afternoon you will be able to get outside and enjoy some drier weather after enjoying this rainfall.
