So rescue 10 according to the documents arrived on the scene and drove around her again because she thought that she was already dead. Now, rescue 10, 14 minutes later, moved the plane to the left wing. At that point, the girl was already covered in foam and she was hit by the rig. But it still wasnt over. At 12 01, a second rig hit her because she was covered in this foam. They didnt see her. And she was hit on the way as this truck went to refill water. And allen, the coroner did [ signal breakup ] alive after that plane crashed. Very sad. Run over twice. All right. Tara mergener in washington, thank you. In burlingame, a public viewing of the ntsb hearing was broadcast at the crowne plaza hotel. Now, a half dozen families of passengers on the asiana flight did reply they would come. But none showed up. It was mostly employees. They are required to have the public viewing close to the crash site. Pilots overrelying on cockpit automation is a serious issue and we are told sometimes pilots are reluctant to intervene when something goes wrong. Something called the automation dependence. People have begun to be so dependent upon the automation in these cockpits, they are losing some of their basic stick and rudder skills. Reporter he says when the ntsb wraps up their investigation, he expects [ signal breakup ] safety recommendations to the faa, boeing and Asiana Airlines. The suspected bank robber shot by deputies today in marin county could be the man they have come to call the cotton ball bandit. Started this morning with a robbery of a bank in novato. But it ended in san rafael following a chase right across from northgate mall. Ryan takeo is there. An interesting link between the location and the suspect. Ryan . Reporter thats right, allen. The chase ended right here at this curve in the road. Now, if this is the cotton ball bandit, he would know this area weather. The fbi says the nicknamed robber hit up this and held this up Wells Fargo Bank just a couple of months ago. The police chase started after a bank robber held up this bank of the west in novato this morning. The chase ended in san rafael with the suspect crashing his car. He was shot when police say he pulled a gun. Right now investigators are trying to find out if the suspect is the serial bank robber the fbi calls the cotton ball bandit. I think we all heard the gunshots. Yeah. It was, uhm, not like you expect it. Not the way it is in the movies, thats for sure. Reporter wells fargo employees Hannah Williams and another may have been victims of the robbers earlier holdups. Both heard several gunshots this morning outside their bank. Were not sure if its the same guy, but we were robbed on october 30. Reporter he is linked to at least 9 robberies in the past year. The fbi says most time he wore a hat or beanie with a cot ton ball on top and most of the robberies were on a wednesday morning like today. And youre right, it is a wednesday. There have been a couple of days when he did strike on a wednesday, i think it was a thursday, but thats part of what were looking into. Reporter this afternoon, we learned eight agencies worked to catch their man. The police had been quietly placing banks under surveillance. The fbi admitted the operations goal was to catch the cotton ball bandit. Call it a mathematical equation, a calculation, but we are going to do the best we can using our techniques to catch a menace to society. Reporter thats as close as they got it tying todays suspect with a string of robberies. What is your hope if this is him . That its not going to happen again. Reporter the suspect is out of surgery and Police Expect that he is going to survive. We expect to hear from them tomorrow whether or not todays suspect is the cotton ball bandit. Live in san rafael, ryan takeo, kpix 5. The Sonoma CountySheriffs Department says its initial review of the deadly shooting of a 13yearold boy shows the deputy did not violate department procedure. Erick gelhaus shot and killed andy lopez in october thinking the replica gun that the teenager was carrying was an actual assault rifle. The review is still going on but so far the Department Says there are no signs gelhaus failed to follow procedure when using deadly force. A massive war house fire in concord sent a nasty smell of burning plastic across parts of Contra Costa County prompting a Health Advisory which was lifted just before noon. The fire broke out at around midnight on stanwell drive near the Buchanan Field Airport in concord. Ann notarangelo is live. The fire is under control, but how is the air right now . Reporter in fact, the fire is out. Fire crews have left. There is still a haze in the air. Still, theres a strong stench of that burned plastic. In fact, people across the east bay have been complaining about the smoke. Dramatic pictures of a concord warehouse going up in flames. Contra costa Fire Protection district says the building never stood a chance. The fire is too dangerous for to us go inside. The building is starting to collapse. Reporter this was the all phone company. Firefighters say it was two buildings with floortoceiling metal shelving loaded with plastics and computer and telephone components. They did installation of new telephone systems for, you know, businesses and that kind of stuff but they also recycled old telecommunications equipment. Reporter crews were using so much water, they called the Water District to increase pressure and were told they were maxed out. Its an old building with no sprinklers. They dont know if the fire alarm was working and a Burglar Alarm was the first indication something might be wrong but dont know what set it off. Earlier in the evening the owner of the building was notified that the Burglar Alarm went off. He has had a history of false alarms with the Concord Police department. So he said, well, lets leave it alone for now. Reporter the fire sent a noxious smell into the air and the county Health Department issued a Health Advisory between 9 a. M. And 11 a. M. And have sent air samples for further testing. Plastics have potential carcinogens and things like that in them, so they are things that its worth knowing whats in that. Reporter theres no indication of arson. However, its still under investigation. Nearby homeless encampments will be checked and the Fire Department also says the building was bankowned and the business was planning on moving. The Fire Department was able to retrieve the security cameras from the building. They were drenched with water though but they are hoping they can dry them out and maybe those cameras will pinpoint the cause of the fire. In concord, ann notarangelo, kpix 5. The Health Department hopes to be able to actually determine what was in the smoke within the next 24 hours. An Elevator Company has been fined 54,000 by cal osha for a workers death at the new 49ers stadium. The ceremony included readings of his writings and speeches from students and local leaders. Mandela thrived on seeing people who dont see eye to eye, to shake their hands and he led by example.
