Many of them with very close family ties to the philippines. So it seems only natural for the students here at san jose state to want to help out in between their classes. Students at san jose dug into their wallets to help aid typhoon survivors in the philippines. Besides money, students are also collecting food, clothing, and supplies. Theyre working with the bay area nonprofit project pearls. The lbc Cargo Company and the Philippine Red Cross which will get the supplies and support directly to the victims. Were collecting canned foods, dry foods, any nonperishable foods or foods they will be able to have over there. They set up tents and collected items for passing students throughout the day. It was 85 organize and supported by philippine american student organizations on campus. Many of these students have relatives in the philippines and feel a personal connection with the victims who right now lack adequate food, water, shell and the medical care. Personally, i want to do whatever i can to help. Reporter just a few minutes ago we saw students loading up several big box of supplies, probably a couple hundred pounds worth. But they want to collect a lot more. For that reason, theyre going to be out here two more days.
