Kpix 5s Jessica Flores is live in san jose with the latest. Reporter were on taylor and 7th street, as you can see behind me, theres still a heavy police presence. They are investigating this shooting from last night. What we do know is that two people were shot, one killed. This morning at least one of the individuals may be connected to the Oakland Fire Department. Early this morning, the Oakland Fire Department they are in mourning. Youre looking at video. Around 2 30 a. M. , this is taken of a procession of oakland firefighters heading to the Santa Clara Valley hospital where at least one of the victims was taken. Now, the shooting happened nearing the gordon [ indiscernible ] in san jose. When police got on scene, they found the two victims with life threatening injuries. One of the victims was pronounced dead at the hospital. The other at this hour were told is listed in stable condition. But were still learning more this morning. We do know that one person has been detained but it appears the search is not over. They are still canvassing the area between jackson and taylor on 10th and 11th. There are more details to be learned. Well update you later. It is believed these two individuals shot, one killed, here in san jose last night. May be connected to the Oakland Fire Department. Reporter this is one of five neighborhoods where a lot of Property Owners have yet to apply for this permit according to the department of Building Inspections. And were talking about very specific buildings here. So were talking about buildings that are three stories or soft story wood framed properties that have five to 15 units or a building thats two stories and has a basement. The Citys Department of Building Inspections says more than 1300 Property Owners who need to apply for this permit havent done so and a lot of them are in the western addition, castro and noe valley, marina, richmond, north beach chinatown areas. The department of Building Inspections says 3500 buildings altogether are in this category. Safety comes at a price. Retrofitting can be hundreds of thousands of dollars. Now, if they dont get one of these permits, the dbi says they will put earthquake warning placards on the buildings and also notices of violation. Reports are emerging that he was here on this street whenever the attacker drove down with a van and hit him. He is believed to have been holding his 5yearolds hand at the time and his partner saved the child but he couldnt escape. Thats unfortunate to hear. Jane, authorities have also been giving updates throughout the morning on the conditions of the victims. What else have you heard . Reporter we know now that in the two attacks because of course there was one here in barcelona and a similar van attack in a coastal town just about 60 miles away, we know now that 130 people have been injured. 17 of those people are believed to be critical. Now, the police the authorities here in spain say they have made a fourth arrest today. Its not clear if that arrest is the driver of the van. Earlier in the day, they had said that they are still chasing one wouldbe attacker. And that person they believe to have been the driver of the van here in barcelona.
