Senators are back on capitol hill today to continue debates on repealing and replacing the Affordable Care act. Reporter just hours after they decided by a narrow margin to open debate on the gop Healthcare Plan to repeal and replace obamacare, it was rejected. Some senators called the proposal a more restricted substitute than what they want and it was rejected in a 5743 vote. This means gop leaders need to regroup and come up with yet another plan to present to the senate. A little more than a week after being diagnosed with brain cancer, senator john mccain returned for the vote, urging his constituents for bipartisan shipp. I voted for the motion to proceed to allow debate to continue and amendments to be offered. I will not vote for this bill as it is. Although hours later mccain did vote to repeal and replace obamacare. Nine republicans voted against it falling short of the necessary threshold of 60 votes. Someone could call saying your loved one was in a car accident, and unless you pay the ransom they will be kidnapped and harmed. They insist you cant hang up before paying the ransom. Police say those virtual kidnappers are trying to get you to pay before you can call to check and see if your loved ones is okay. Victims say the scam seemed all too real. They specifically threatened to put a bullet in the back of my childs head. She called me mom. Im terrified, please help. Reporter police say variations of this scam have been around for years where the scammer says someone you love is in trouble but theyre fine. If you get a call like this find a way to get a hold of that supposed victim to see if they are okay and call police. And police also say that these kidnappers could be getting the convincing information about your child from social media things like the childs name or where they go to school. Reporter we are in front of Oakland Police department and this is one of the local Law Enforcement agencies that could be paying the price because last week oakland city leaders voted to cut ties with immigration agents. But attorney general Jeff Sessions is saying any sanctuary city may not be receiving any of that federal grant money. He is banning sanctuary city from that money. Under the new rules the department of justice will withhold certain federal grants unless cities do two things, give immigration authorities access to local jails in order to interview inmates suspected of being in the country illegally, and when the department of Homeland Security makes a request, local jails need to alert immigration agents at least 48 hours in advance of releasing inmates. Those would be in violation of city policies including oakland and San Francisco. San Francisco Mayor ed lee said in a statement, this is not the first time the federal government has threatened San Franciscos federal funding. What has not changed despite each new threat is our commitment to our residents, sanctuary cities are stronger and safer cities. In san jose, a Court Hearing is set today for the suspect in the murder of an 88 yearold woman lovingly called miss flo. She was punched and kicked to the ground in her home last september after Authorities Say suspects broke into her home and demanded money. She didnt have money. Things got violent. Its unclear how 19yearold johnny brown recently arrested is allegedly involved in the crime but miss flos neighbors stress whoever is responsible needs to pay. If they did it, too bad; they belong where theyre at. Thats how i feel about it. This is my friend. You know . She never hurt a soul ever. Authorities have now made four arrests in this case. Two women are also accused of trying to cover up the crime by tossing evidence. Palo alto police are warning about a new phone scam. It was september 2010 amber nelson was walking with adolfo bravo near the ashby bart station in berkeley when someone shot him during a botched robbery attempt. She planted a garden near the spot where it happened and just came back to visit with her new partner and young daughter. Nelson says her life is whole now but because nobody has ever been arrested, she still seeks closure.
