Jessica is live in danville, as people stake out their place on the parade route. Jessica, what is it looking like out there . Ann, right now, looking like a ghost town. Nobody is out here. But what you will see, is hundreds of chairs, like this, all lining the street here in downtown danville. Take a look over here. You can some kitty chairs. They put tape around. It hopefully no one shows up. And obviously, that is not really a good mechanism to keep any thieves away. But people are very trusting out here. Because the chairs are all lining the streets without a problem. People have been claiming their spot here, since 6 00 p. M. Yesterday. And the city opened it to allow people to put out their chairs last night. And the city also asked not to use chalk or tape to claim their spots. But we did see some folks breaking the rules to get a good seat. Parade goers here say hunting for the right spot has become a fourth of july tradition. People will wander around, it is almost like finding the right slot machine. They are kind of walking in front of their place, until boom, and then everything is down. Blankets, chairs, ropes. Now, if you are headed out here today, the city wants you to know, downtown, the street here will be closed from 6 00 a. M. To 2 00 p. M. And traffic may utilize danville boulevard. And also use san ramon south of Sycamore Valley road west. The parade will run from 9 00 a. M. To noon here in downtown. And as you can see, in just a couple of hours, we are going to see hundreds of folks here, coming back to their chairs, where they have claimed their front row seats here for the parade. It will include150 patriotic entries from floats to marching bands. Reporting live in danville, kpix 5. People are gearing up for the parade also in morgan hill. Some are using chalk to write their names or the word reserved along the sidewalk. Others are lining up camping chairs for the best view. The parade starts at 10 00 a. M. Fireworks on the green, opens up at 5 00 tonight. And napa, the parade gets under way at 10 00 this morning. And marches down second and third streets. After the parade, there is a festival at the oxbo commons. The fireworks kick off at 9 30 tonight. And one of the biggest Fireworks Shows in the bay area is happening tonight, in San Francisco. And crews are setting up nearly 10,000 fireworks. On the embarcadero and set up two barges and one at pier 39 and another at aquatic park. To serve as launch pads. Tonights show starts at 9 30. If youre planning to watch fireworks at the almeda county fair, be sure to arrive early. Officials changed the rules this year. They will be closing all of the entrances and parking lots at 6 00 p. M. Got to be in by six. An effort to make the crowd size more manageable. Police all over the bay area are cracking down on illegal fireworks. In oakland, they have increased patrols in areas that new technology has vmap have mapped as high risk historically as high risk for celebratory gunfire. And one has taken out the lawn while wfear that fireworks with fear that fireworks will start a fire in her yard. Some residents say the police dont stand a chance. I think there is not enough of them. Enough police . Yes i think it will goat worse. If you hear get worse. If you hear celebratory gunfire or fireworks, call the nonemergency line and they will direct patrol to your area. There are places around the bay area where setting off fireworks wont get you in trouble. Jackie ward is live in pacifica with the details. Reporter the city of pacifica is one of those places where you can buy, again, certain, thats the key word here, according to a web site that sells what is called safe and sane fireworks, these fireworks dont explode or have aish effects. And they include things like sparklers, and snaps, and smoke balls and fountains. Paives pacifica is only one of the few places in the bay area that sells these along with petaluma and a few others. According to the sf gate, a lot of those who sell the fireworks partially do so to help offset increased Public Safety costs during the holiday weekend. For example, nonprofits in pacifica that sell them, including 8 surcharge, and Pacifica Police wrote in the report to the city council that it costs their department about 33,000 to protect the city through july 4th. And the National Council on Fireworks Safety is reminding people to be smart though as you celebrate today. Follow local laws. First and foremost. And use adult supervision. And wear safety glasses and use fireworks outdoors, and never relight a dud figure. They suggest you wait 20 minutes and soak it in a bucket of water. Authorities gearing up for a busy day on local rivers. Crews have been training for possible water rescue. Firefighters have already made 46 rescues on the Stanislaus River this year. Nine of them happened this week. And Officials Say the rapids could still be dangerous today. A lot of people are also expected to cool down, at the beaches in tahoe. And the snow melt is causing some problems. And the lake swallowed the beaches thanks to massive snow melt and the record breaking winter and making finding a spot to relax on the sand tough. To get v. I. P. Seating on the sand, people had to get up early, and others were forced to set up camps on the docks and it is just a big change from last year. There was beach out another 20 yards or so. Getting into emerald bay is easy now with the high water. It is expected to be busy at tahoe for the holiday and officials want to remind visitors that beach or no beach, fireworks are forbidden. Skiers and boarders are loving the extra snow in the mountains. This is the only fourth time in history squaw valley has been open for the fourth of july. With temperatures in the 80s. People have been hitting the slopes in their bikinis. Im looking at california and we went skiing and then swimming in the lake. You cant get any better. Thats why we love california. With three lifts open and squaw valley is seeing thousands of visitors a day. The resort says it will be open on weekends as long as there is enough snow. That is so cool. To be able to do both things in the same area. And you see these guys, skiing, and boarding with no shirts on, you dont want them to fall because that could be cold. It could hurt.
