Anne makovec joins us to break down the costs involved. House republicans have been wrestling with this for the last week and they are poised to vote today on president trumps Healthcare Plan effectively dismantling the Affordable Care act. There is a new analysis in the meantime that shows the gop plan would impact our states ability to pay for healthcare for the poorest californians. According to the California Department of healthcare services, 18 million californians are now on some version of medical, the states Healthcare Program for the poor. The medical program would lose more than 24 billion annually starting in 2027 under the p al california would lose 400 million annually beginning in 2020 for its inhome support services program. That keeps the disabled and seniors in their homes rather than institutions. Now, the analysis did not explain how the state would deal with the federal cuts. State Health Officials say they would have to look at changes to eligibility, benefits or provider rates or possibly all three. So what are the latest numbers on support for the new plan in dc . Last night 31 republicans say that they are going to vote to oppose the American Healthcare act which is president trumps answer to obamacare. And that is enough to sink the plan. Some say it goes too far in taking back protections, others say it doesnt go far enough.
