Thats how one lawyer described what was going on inside the courthouse yesterday. And again today, they plan to strike for day 2. Now, they say they deserve more pay, more than the two 5 pay raises that the court is offering them, in six months. Now, yesterday, they picketed and the court really felt the impact. One lawyer told us that his cases were in limbo, likely to be rescheduled. Some of the workers say they really want the court system to feel what its like without them. This morning our judge was having to fill out the paperwork himself. And with the small number of people we had on this morning, thats something he could accomplish. But theres no way he is going to be able to do that with 100 folks. Reporter so one of the cases delayed because of the strike is the highprofile case of the suspect in sierra lamars disappearance and murder. Many of the workers on strike, they helped the judge fill out the paperwork to push these cases through the system. They also processed search warrants so that they can be served. So again, this morning, santa clara Court Workers plan to walk the picket line behind me at 7 30 a. M. We also want to note that there are nine courthouses countywide. Now, we are also told that many of the court cases will be on hold. They will be postponed. But the most important ones like criminal arraignments are still happening. New this morning Salinas Police are looking for a woman accused of kidnapping her 6 yearold despite not having custody. Officers wants the publics help finding the woman last seen on tuesday running towards south main street with a young son in tow. The boys name is richard martinez. He is about 4 feet 2 inches tall. Roughly the same height as yvonne. Salinas Police Department believe the boy went with his mother voluntarily. Today a judge is expected to sentence a San Francisco chinatown figure to life in prison. Raymond shrimp boy chow was convicted in a murder and racketeering case earlier this year. Cal fire is using helicopters to drop water over the flames and while some people have been told its time to leave home, we have heard many locals who have seen wildfires before are not evacuating. The quake injured 200 people in august 2014 and caused more than a half billion dollars in damage. Among the latest aftershocks was a magnitude 3 tremor on tuesday. A fastfood worker says his good deed got him fired and now his story is take the internet by storm. 19yearold alex was fired from a jackinthebox restaurants in bakersfield after he was caught on Surveillance Video giving a military veteran free tacos and a coffee. His story went viral after he posted about it on facebook. They were leftovers and would be thrown out. He said he wasnt written up or given a warning but fired after his shift. I got emotional because i was talking in the speech i was talking about my parents and some of the sacrifices they have made. They came into this country with absolutely nothing and had that American Dream and so many people share that experience.
