They tell us that at this point, southbound 880 is looking okay in terms of flooding. Right here the bay bridge toll plaza, westbound traffic still flowing well getting into the city. I believe there is. Reporter tasers are used in every major city in the u. S. In the Police Departments except detroit and San Francisco. Now, back to this lawsuit that is expected to be announced today, we are expecting some very strong words and well be hearing again from mario woods family. As we check on the rest of the commute, if you do plan to make the drive along the golden gate, 101 traffic right here is still looking okay. We see the leading edge of the second cold front again having nothing to do with el nino at all. And that begins to descend on the northern portion of our bay area late on saturday night. It will continue to be unsettled today. But boy, what a lot of excitement. I cannot wait to see if we have snow atop Mount Hamilton. I bet we do. Get the rock skis. You need a rest. Even that trip to vegas that he paid for after the team won the title. I have been jumping a little better this season because my pockets are a little lighter. [ laughter ] Michael Crabtree is probably feeling a little heavier in the pockets. Two days ago the raiders inked him to a new fouryear contract extension. Now, i wrote in my blog that this was a huge move for the culture of the franchise and yesterday, Charles Woodson backed me up. You hear that people, you know, dont want to come to oakland, you know, dont want to play in oakland. Um, but i think things are starting to change. You know . And he will be i think a great ambassador, you know, for the team. Yeah. Big sign for the raiders. Playoffs out of the picture for the 49ers. We know this. But they clearly are very competitive in the locker room ping pong table. Listen to the background noise yesterday. Go, go, whoo ah whoo you have that 23yard line. Oh, whoo heck of a long time [ screaming ] that last guy on camera not distracted by the noise was the kicker field austin. A little locker room frivolity. They look pretty loose. Im dennis odonnell. How long will it last . And it may loo the storm lingers after bringing hail, lightning and high winds to the area. How long will it last . And its pretty stuff but this snow is packing a big punch with dangerous driving conditions in the sierra. What you need to know if you are planning a weekend trip. Did you say punch . We have a onetwo punch right here in the bay area ill tell you which day this weekend it will rain. And we have a traffic jam on 580 in the westbound direction where there is flooding and an accident blocking multiple lanes. Ill tell you how bad traffic is with kcbs traffic. Good morning, everyone. Its friday, december 11. Im frank mallicoat. Happy friday, im maria medina in for michelle griego. Heres a live look at 101 at lucky drive. Thats in marin county. Rain there has caused flooding forcing drivers to plow through the water and even hydroplane. This is all from a storm system thats continued to soak our region since yesterday. And the storm did some damage in guerneville. A big tree came crashing down on a parked car. The tree also brought down power lines at armstrong woods road. Part of highway 116 was closed for about 2 hours because of that mess. Lots of reports of thunder, lightning and hail. We captured the wild weather in hayward. A crazy commute coming into the city this morning. I dont think its going to change. Now about that video now you saw the lightning and you count. The lower the count, the closer the cell. So it was on top of that person when they shot that video how brave was he all right, good morning, we have noticed a few lightning strikes off the coast this morning. But all that has dissipated. We still have the potential of a thunderstorm in your forecast. This is wraparound moisture from the cold front that came through the bay area between 5 and 8 00 yesterday in the morning bringing gusty winds. You dont see this very often, the green is the light rain, sure we have the yellow which is a moderate rain but the highlights in pink and purple that is snow thats falling in the Mount Hamilton area so when the sun comes up well be sure to let you know if it is sticking with some beautiful pictures hopefully. Moderate rain off invernesss coast and all this will head onshore within the next 20 minutes. Its wet at the Golden Gate Bridge and you will notice the difference as you head out the door. The temperatures are 11 to 15 degrees cooler. Thats because all this cool air is associated with the cold front. Well talk more about what you can expect this weekend coming up in a matter of minutes. But right now, here liza battalones. Good morning. Its a busy commute out there and there is an accident in the clearing stages along 580 westbound where we have had problems with cars hydroplaning and this new accident 580 westbound near the 980 interchange as traffic is stacked up for over a mile approaching the scene. You can see traffic down to 24 Miles Per Hour this accident blocking three lanes of traffic. Also a new crash delaying the commute just leaving the walnut creek interchange southbound 680 near south main. A flooding is going to be an issue along 880 especially northbound approaching broadway. Thats where chp has issued a traffic advisory and in terms of traffic delays, 880 still flowing well in both directions. The bay bridge toll plaza, the metering lights are still off. Traffic is slow just in the lanes there from about the 880 overcrossing. Meantime, well go back to the live pictures of 101 near lucky drive where there is deep standing water across all lanes of the highway. Now, roberta says it will certainly get worse later this morning with high tide scheduled to 10 30. Theres a look at kcbs traffic. Now to frank. Thank you, liza. The storms are providing a whole lot of fresh snow in the sierra with up to 3 feet on some of the highest peaks. Reporter na nguyen with a closer look. Reporter just off highway 50 here just south of kyburz, just a few miles down, but that way is actually youre going to start thinking about if youre coming up 50 this year youre going to need chains. We passed chains a mile down. Unless you have allwheel drive you want snow tires on all the cars if you are coming this way if you dont have chains. As we were driving up here, you get a mix of rain, fog and snow. We started to see snow near 3,000 feet at pollock pines. Up here its falling, getting pretty, sticking to the ground here and if you come over here its snowing here and it looks so pretty along the fence line actually and along the trees. So again if you are coming up this road, though, bring your chains. This storm from thursday is wrapping up. It was warmer but we are expecting a colder one sunday and lower snow levels. So be prepared if you are driving out on 80 or 50 this weekend. Back to you. Thank you. We now know four people were killed last night when a medical helicopter crashed in kern county.
