Its a rockslide partially blocking the southbound lane. This is a twolane road heading through the area so be prepared for just a brief delay getting through there. Those are some of the hot spots this morning. Highway 4 already we had a major accident this morning. We are just hearing from the chp that all lanes are now open before bailey but you will certainly see lots of activity off to the righthand side several cars involved in this accident. So far, traffic at the bay bridge Holding Steady with just a brief delay there. But very strong winds for our bridges. Ill have more kcbs traffic in less than 10 minutes. Flooding, downed trees and Power Outages are all possible today as roberta said, and drivers can expect slow going traffic during the commute. It is not expected to reopen until 6 30 this morning. A power pole is down so a messy situation in the north bay. Theres a problem in calistoga involving a rockslide which partially shut down highway 29 in the southbound direction just as you approach livermore road in calistoga. Those are some of the hot spots this morning. Its already been very slow for the westbound highway 4 commute. There was a major accident that happened about an hour ago. All lanes are now open. It happened in bay point involving several cars. Thats been cleared up but westbound along 4 stacked up leaving a street and stays heavy through pittsburg up the willow pass so very long delays there. The bay bridge toll plaza commute is still okay. A lighted commute oakland into San Francisco. Its very wet and going to be a very blustery commute heading across our bridges. Take it nice and easy. Its an advisory for the north bay mountains until 10 00 this morning. At 4 00 this afternoon, we have a high surf warning that goes into effect. Our local beaches, some of the swells up to 18 feet, pounding our local seashore causing some localized flooding there, as well. And thats why we have that right now Coastal Flood Advisory that goes into effect for tomorrow for mill valley and sausalito for those flood prone areas. You know where those are. So keep that in mind for your friday. Meanwhile, this is the front. Its moving across the northwestern section of the state of california and as it does so, its going south. And you will notice as the front passes we see a little bit of a lull around lunchtime but here comes some more wraparound moisture, a lot of rain associated with this system, a lot of gusty winds and also, because this is a cold front, not el nino, but a cold front, as that colder air overrides the warmer air, theres a potential for a thunderstorm popping this afternoon and in the evening hours. Up to an inch of rain throughout most locations today over 2 in the ukiah area. We have a winter storm warning in effect for the high sierra. We are anticipating up to two feet of snow above 7,000 feet. Numbers, hm, doesnt even really make a difference today. Those numbers are coming down into the 60s. We are buffeted by the trees so we are not getting any of the heavy winds that anne is getting yet but we are bracing for it. So this area got some serious flooding back in 1998 and 2012. So everybody is on edge when a big storm is on the way. Folks were really confused along the san fransesquito creek yesterday when they got a text warning say the creek was about to spill its banks even though the storm was a full day away. It turns out there was a bad sensor that triggered that false alarm and authorities have since apologized. This front contains winds up to 50 miles an hour, downed trees a possibility, downed power lines a possibility. Right now the heaviest activity you can see it by the yellows and reds. This is the front. Its been dumping up to 3 4 of rain in the past few rush hours. We have a cell a heavy one into san ramon impacting 680 south over towards the sunol grade. We have some heavy rainfall thats now falling with gusty winds around the Altamont Pass. Here you have your peninsula rain showers. Green is a light rain, yellow is the more moderate rainfall and then we start to see the areas of orange thats a heavier downpour. Golden gate bridge at this particular time it is not raining but the winds have been gusting up to 45 Miles Per Hour. All our bridges will be impacted by this storm for the morning commute. Temperatures currently in the 50s and 60s. The winds have been increasing really ramping up to 13 in san ramon now, 15 concord and vallejo, 22 in novato. 23 in the napa area. And traffic is backed up from about the foot of the maze. We are getting reports from phone force members calling into kcbs saying the winds are very strong heading across the bay bridge this morning. Chp has issued a sig alert for the north bay. This is in guerneville 116 gravenstein highway shut down both ways at first street. You have a couple of things going on. You have a large downed tree and downed power line. Right now you can see by the shades of yellow and red, that is the initial front. Its now traversing into the eastern portion of the bay area. So youre beginning to see a little bit of a lull around the santa rosa area. Some of those burnedout areas middletown, um, also right around cloverdale and clearlake well keep a watchful eye for the potential of mud slides because you picked up a lot of rain in a short amount a. This is the front, concord, clayton and walnut creek, stretching around 680 as you commute into san ramon heading south towards the 580 680 corridor heading through pleasanton into the sunol grade. It is a mess this morning with pockets of moderate to heavy rainfall. Youre saying what rain if you are in the san jose area. Very light precipitation. But the winds have been ramping up. Peninsula, we have a little dry spot from sfo into the city by the bay, otherwise were picking up now a cell with some pretty moderate rainfall in throughout the highlands and also the san mateo bridge. We do have a high wind advisory in effect until 10 00 this morning in throughout the north bay mountains and this red area, we have a high surf warning in effect way upstream way to the north 30 feet as far as your swells are concerned. Locally, 15 to 18 feet. In a could cause some coastal flooding so we have a Coastal Flood Advisory in effect for mill valley and sausalito but this goes into Effect Tomorrow morning with high tide. Here it is. Its a classic cold front. This has nothing to do with el nino. Behind it a lot of unsettled air mass and thats why well pick up some rain showers in and out of your afternoon all the way into your friday. Heres your lunchtime. We see a little bit of a lull around the central bay but upstream we have more rain showers.
