Now at 3 00, we are learning more about a deadly crash in solano county, involving a family visiting from mexico. We have the latest in the newsroom right now. Reporter four people have died and police are looking into whether drunk driving played a role. Three young adults died almost immediately. We just found out one member of that family visiting from mexico also died. This happened last night at 8 00 p. M. Three people around 20 years old were in a honda accord, when it veered off the roadway and heat an east bound chevy suburban headon. Nobody in the honda survived. And in the suv was that family of seven visiting from mexico for a week. One family member, a 70yearold woman, died. The six others, including two young girls, were taken to the hospital by ambulance. Theyre in stable condition. Police are investigating what led up to this. The chief says crashes in this area happen often. This stretch of highway has been notorious for decades. Ive been working in this county 26 years, and this is probably the worst crash that ive seen on this stretch of road. Chief, what makes this roadway so hazardous . Complete conjecture. I think people who see this wide open road and theres not a lot of traffic normally. So they get very brave and theyll pass, not anticipating traffic coming, traveling equally fast. So even though the speed limit here is 55, and it reduces as we get to trilogy, people see wide open roads and they just go for it. And it off ends like this. Reporter we dont know the specifics of what led to this crash. The chief says that they did find open alcoholic beverage containers around the honda. But its not clear yet if the crash was caused by alcohol since they dont know the blood level alcohol of the blood alcohol levels rather of the driver. Sarah . Anne, thank you for the update there. San francisco just declared that state of emergency locally related to monkeypox. That move is meant to streamline resources to respond to this faster, but counties are still waiting to get more doses of the Monkeypox Vaccine from the federal government. That has been going on for a while now. Santa clara county is expecting a little over 700 doses, but they dont know when they will get them. San francisco is expecting 4200 doses, that is a lot less than the 35,000 they asked the feds for. Still, the Health Department says its ready to vaccinate people once doses arrive. Luckily for each of our allotments we have been able to get, we have been able to turn them around significantly quick and get them out. So of the 7800 doses we have already received, we have been able to put dosages into peoples arms just under 6800. When we anticipate the next allotment coming in, well be doing the same thing, rolling it out as quickly and efficiently as we can. It is about selfassessing where you put yourself and at risk. If you find you have symptoms, see your medical provider. That is the most important thing to stop the spread, if you have symptoms. Any time you have a sore or rash, you can expose it to somebody else. So really be aware. If you are looking to get vaccinated, look at where your community Health Department is. Were going to see that fog remaining stubborn and spreading back across the bay, some coastal drizzle on the coastal facing slopes around the bay area. But just trace amounts of moisture there. Near normal highs continuing through the weekend, and into next week. Noticeable level of mugginess for inland portions of the bay area over the next couple of days. Its that monsoonal moisture, we can track that with our forecast models. You can see it kind of pooling here over las vegas and especially over far Southern California and into arizona. Monsoon season under way there, but some of that moisture is speaking up towards us. Theres going to be enough to yield the potential for a couple of popup showers, maybe an isolated thunderstorm. It does. Look like the greatest threat will develop over the bay area, so thats good news for us. Some of that moisture is heading our way by early next week, its coming from a tropical system. This is what at that time is going to be hurricane frank. We are not going to get nearly the amount of moisture associated with that. Just a little bit of that sneaking up towards us, fuelling that chance for a couple of popup thunderstorms. Future cast, simulating the density of lightning. Maybe a couple of popup storms over the sierra. A little more than activity over the high sierra, maybe Northern California on saturday with more activity developing in the second half of the weekend. Its not the bay area, but we dont want to see those lightning strikes, especially dry lightning striking, anywhere in california with such dry vegetation in place. There is the fog right now.
