Tomorrow will be a very wet wintery day for parts of the aye area, the snow level as low bay area, the snow level as low as 2,500 feet and its snowing right now at mount hamilton, elevation 4,000 feet. It has been pouring for the last several hours. This one spot has been getting a tremendous amount of rain, otherwise just some scattered showers, but the rain picks up for all of us tomorrow morning, the commute and going back to work and school. Tomorrow afternoon the light rain turns into a steady soaking rainfall that will be with us at least 24 hours. Rain here means snow in your sierra but not your average snowstorm, over the next three days up to 6 feet, not inches, 6 feet of snow in the Higher Elevations of the sierra, bear valley 69. 7 inches predicted by thursday morning, the first of two big storms. The inspection will determine if the puc can simply repair mountain tunnel or whether it will have to build a new one. It would be close to the original one, but once that went into service youd have two tunnels and we are looking at that as an advantage as a redundancy in your water system is always a good thing. Reporter a new tunnel would cost 620 million to build and would take several years, but if inspectors determine the tunnel only needs repairs, it could mean more hetch hetchy shutdowns in the future. For now your tap water will come from local reservoirs and two local Water Treatment plants in pinole and san bernardino. Customers shouldnt notice a difference. Were using different parts of our system. All our reservoirs are high quality water sources.
