Tonight a new storm is on the horizon that is expected to pack a punch this weekend. But first absolute chaos in the race for the white house, punches, protest and bloody police as a donald trump rally goes off the rails. Weve seen clashes at trump events before but nothing like what happened in chicago earlier tonight. We heard from the republican frontrunner a short time ago. He says dont blame him. Was ca vent. For it was a routine rally that quickly careened out of control. Protesters and Trump Supporters clashed inside the venue and outside with police, this officer bloodied. It all started when the Trump Campaign announced it was cancelling the event for security reasons. Thank you very much for your attendance and please go in peace. The crowd of thousands erupted. We want trump we want trump fighting broke out, pushing, shoving. Some got even more violent. We love trump at least one person charged the podium. Power to the people power to the people the trump protesters say they wanted to make a statement. Im happy they didnt allow this in our city. I think its a bad precedent because it will encourage more bad behavior. Chicago police say postponing the rally was a mistake. [ audio difficulties ] the republican frontrunner says the violence isnt his fault. Nobody has been hurt at our rally and ive had 45,000, 35,000 people. Two officers including that one with blood running down his face suffered minor injuries. Five people were arrested and this just into us. Trump canceled a rally he planned for cincinnati sunday. Now a live look at pacifica where a huge tree came crashing down on Marina Del Mar avenue. Yes, there is a house under there. Fortunately no one was home. This is one of the windiest areas in pacifica. There are some trees under the citys control, but they have not been pruning them. When trees are unpruned just like a boat sail it catches the wind, so theyre much more prone to come down. The tree took out power lines along the way knocking out electricity to hundred of customers, 18 hundreds of customers, 18 people are still in the dark. Flooding fears in the north bay tonight, keeping a close eye on the Russian River which is nearing capacity. A look at the last 48 hours shows we have seen significant rain, guerneville up nearly 5 inches, santa rosa nearly 4. Then down in san jose again the last 48 hours not even a 1 4 inch. We did pick up more rainfall tonight there. The south bay saw the most rain this evening. Well add that to these totals tomorrow, so these numbers will definitely increase. We have more rain on the way. In the meantime the wind advisory has expired. We are seeing breezy conditions upwards of 21 mileperhour wind in oakland, 11 in vallejo and antioch, and we see issues with downed trees and power lines. Anticipate that throughout the weekend. A Flash Flood Watch is in effect. The Flash Flood Warning has expired, but well keep a close eye on the north bay. All it takes is a couple good downpours this weekend and we could see flash flooding or. Ing in some of those rivers. Well talk about how much flash flooding in some of those rivers. Operation Officials Say the water behind me will begin receding around 2 a. M. Theres no doubt that the Russian River is swollen and its quite clear no one is parking here. In guerneville tonight there is a momentary sense of relief after storm after pounding storm gave way to something not seen in the Sonoma County city in the past few days. Im driving home. Its sunny. I had my windshield wipers on. We thought it was going to be crazy. I rushed home from San Francisco thinking we were going to be inundated. Reporter the bloated and brown Russian River crested 6 feet below flood river, but you can see the difference even a day makes. They said it would be flood stage tonight or tomorrow, Early Saturday Morning it would be 3 feet above flood stage. Reporter while the skies are calm and the river is fit for a duck and not flooding homes now, there is concern that could all change in 24 hours. We dont know what to expect tomorrow. Were a little bit worried about tomorrow. Reporter Sonoma County officials do not have their Emergency Operation centers staffed. They say they are monitoring it. Heres another view of the Russian River. One guy instagramed this video. That used to be his backyard. The driver that snapped this pic said looks like they arent going anywhere and hes right. This landslide took out a caltrans truck on highway 1 and ft. Bragg. The wall of mud poured down around 3 a. M. Today and nearly pushed this driver and truck over the guardrail. The employee is okay and the highway is closed until further notice. In pacifica this beach near a crumbling cliff side is closed tonight. Tomorrow morning crews will start demolishing this red tagged apartment along espalanade avenue. It will take up to five days to tear down. The Silver Lining tonight . Bay area reservoirs are filling up to levels we havent seen in years. Reporter im devin fehely in lexington reservoir where a week of drenching rain caused the water levels to rise dramatically. They added an astonishing 1. 4 billion gallons of water in the last week, but lexington is still less than half full. In morgan hill the reservoir is over capacity, so much rain accumulating water going over the spillway. The runoff is flowing into fielder creeks that have been dry for years. Reporter Surveillance Video shows three man and a woman huddled around the pinball machines january 16th in full view of other patrons. You cant see what theyre doing, but when workers checked the machines later, they had been vandalized and emptied. I was angry it happened and concerned about the other businesses in the area that also had gaming machines. Reporter she circulated pictures of the four to other bar owners. Lo and behold its the same people hitting several different businesses. Reporter altogether five bars in oakland and alameda including this one have had their arcade games, vending machines or pool tables emptied in the last six months. Surveillance video shows what appears to be the same people, though its tough to tell exactly what theyre doing. This bar owner later discovered hundreds of dollar missing from their dart machine. Oakland police tell us theyre investigating, but allison wants to spread the word on her own. We need to take action as a community and hope to get some arrests in this case. So far no suspects have been named. A deadly hit and run outside the broadway tunnel in San Francisco. Tonight the mayor makes an appeal for any leads. Witnesses do say a windowless white van plowed into a man crossing the street. That man was thrown several yards and died on impact. The driver sped off. Police are looking at Surveillance Video in the area for clues. San Francisco Police were wrong to arrest a public defender outside a courtroom last year. Cameras rolled as jamie till lot son was handcuff Jami Tillotson was handcuffed at the hall of justice. The attorney was trying to prevent police from photographing her client in an unrelated burglary investigation. A report released today by a Police Watchdog group concluded her actions did not warrant arrest. The police chief apologized. Its not known if the officers were disciplined. Reporter two dead on a stretch of i80, police help this man after a bullet struck him in the arm, his car window blown out. Police say all eight shootings were gang related and targeted. In one or two cases investigators believe the gunmen staked out the victims, followed them and pulled up alongside their cars before pulling the trigger. Police say gang members have started taking their violence to the freeway thinking they can get away easier. Also most drivers are focused on the road and not on their surroundings, so fewer witnesses. It could take a little longer to collect the evidence. However, well get it. Reporter all eight shootings remain unsolved of one happened Near University avenue exit, one in vallejo, the other between San Pablo Dam road and apian way. At least two innocent victims were caught in the crossfire. People are just shooting out their window. The bullets are going through the cars. Reporter the latest shooting was two weeks ago where the driver of this car was shot. He drove off the freeway and died. The chp says the freeway is safe, but a lot of drivers are nervous. They say these gang members arent Sharp Shooters and bullets dont have names. In san pablo im da lin, kpix5. Police have arrested eight known gang members, though none are expected in the freeway shootings. California parents could be paid to spend time with their kids. A state lawmaker proposed a bill that would require employers to give parents three days off paid to attend School Related activities every year. I think its a good idea for more moms to be able to spend more time with their kid definitely. End up with kids more engaged in their school, parents who understand better what their kids are working on and you have a more productive workforce in the future. The bill would only apply to those with more than 25 employees. Oaklands jack london store has been sold, the whole thing. The Purchase Group bought more than 300,000 square feet. They worry el nino storms could cause mudslides that completely cover up these hydrants. Reporter living across the street from a hydrant used to give this man a sense of comfort and safety. That was one of the things that got me to buy the house in the first place. Reporter now what do you think . Im concerned. It doesnt seem ready to be used. Reporter many neighbors feel the same. Fires in the Oakland Hills are notoriously difficult to fight. We saw that in 1991 when more than 1,000 acres burned. Tonight we saw hydrants on and near skyline boulevard like this. A kpix5 viewer strapped these for the he snapped these photos of several more. We need to get it up and cleared out. Today is not a good day. Reporter tonight the Oakland Fire Department said its now aware of about a dozen hydrants partially blocked by soil erosion or debris. Long Term Solutions like building retaining walls around hydrants fall outside its jurisdiction. The city also lost a dedicated hydrant Maintenance Worker several years ago. The city says residents can expect to see firefighters out to take care of the problem in the coming weeks. In the Oakland Hills betty yu, kpix5. The Fire Department says theres never been an incident where it couldnt access a hydrant. The Department Says its keeping a close eye on the hydrants in question. Well, we are still tracking some residual showers on hidef doppler this evening, though most of the rain has moved out. Heres a loop over the last three hours. The last few hours most of the rain has been over the south bay. A closer look shows all we have left is a couple showers, light rainfall over the foothills east of san jose and allen rock, but more rain is on the way. Right now outside temperatures are mild, currently in the low 50s for most folks pretty much areawide. Satellite perspective shows this is just the beginning. The area of low pressure that brought us todays rain has now moved in happened. We will get a brief break before this next area of low pressure moves into the Pacific Northwest and ushers in two more bands of rain keeping us unsettled through the weekend. Lets time it out with futurecast starting off now, again showers tapering off. As we advance onto tomorrow morning, we see our next round of rain, carried in the morning hours, 3 00 in the afternoon the next round of rain begins in north bay and slowly makes its way south. Could see periods of heavy to moderate rainfall tomorrow afternoon and evening, scattered showers overnight. This is sunday morning around 9 a. M. , more widespread light rain throughout the bay with pockets of moderate showers especially over higher elevations. Wind will pick up with each round of rain. Sunday night still seeing scattered showers though beginning to taper off, lingering showers through monday morning. Futurecast over the next 48 hours, we could see over 2 inches in ukiah, over a 1 2 inch possible in san jose and San Francisco over the next two days. Winter storm warning in effect, snow levels lowering to around 4,500 feet, snow fall from 24 to 48 inches by monday. Keep that in mind. If youre heading to the high country this weekend, you will need chains. Expect some travel delays. Overall breezy tonight, leftover showers, off and on rain saturday through monday morning and much drier and warmer next week. Tomorrow temperaturewise 50s and 60s areawide, unsettled and relatively wet saturday, sunday into monday.
