The disease is airborne and can survive for 1 to 2 hours outside the body, which makes the bart connection all the more concerning. Bart cars have ventilation systems. They do circulate air on a regular basis. For Public Health providers, a nearly extinct disease is back again for one reason. This individual has been vaccinated and was exposed to measles, would not have been affected or brought the disease to the United States and all of this would not have been happening. Your average sneeze can send germs 3 feet all the way out to 12 feet, sending 100,000 germs per sneeze. The potential for spread of this disease here in the bay area, very, very high. Live, andrea, kpix5. Thank you. Back in 2000, the cdc declared that measles was eliminated from the United States. That means there arent seasonal outbreaks. But it is still widespread in other countries. 189 americans were infected last year. 28 of them got measles abroad. Tonight, people say they got their moneys worth after a gun shot a would be thief. Joe vasquez is there to show us a picture that really tells it all. Joe. Ken, this burglar had a really bad day. First of all, his buddies abandoned him. They drove the get away car that way, leaving him to run up a steep hill that direction, his baggy pants were so saggy, he is tripping over them. That then left the Security Guard and enabled them to catch up with the thief. This is the suspected burglar. Moments after he was shot in the leg by a Security Guard. This is a neighbor declaring victory. Go for it. You know, if it means taking this guy out, fine, it will be a hard lesson for all of his accomplices. According to police, as soon as the burglars spotted the security patrol, they spread out dropping the loot along the way. The Security Guard seen here talking to cops in the back of this police car followed one of the burglars and eventually confronted him. He says the bad guy pulled a sharp object that turned out to be a screwdriver. The Security Guard shot the suspected burglar in his leg. Neighbors here say crime has been getting worse for the past three years. Just a block and a half away, burglars recently shot an 81 yearold woman in the shoulder. Another woman was pistol whipped. Im glad he did. Ill tell you the truth, i would have shot him in the leg. He would be dead. The Security Guards duty is to observe and record. Watch and write it down. The bart officer warned a man of what he is about to do and then, he tases him. It happened the night of january 29. Someone called bart police to complain that this man was drunk and harassing riders when an officer tracks the man down on the train, he repeatedly asks him to get off. The man, who has now been identified as robert, doesnt listen. So he is tased once. And minutes later when hes on the ground, again for five full seconds. I saw the video. The officer was extremely patient. Admitted that the officer who did the tasing is fairly new, but he defended the officers actions, saying the second tasing seemed reasonable. Ingly saw the suspect still kicking. We showed the video to don cameron, a former bart Police Officer who is now a tactical trainer. I think both tasings were appropriate, because he wouldnt listen. Some of the people on board the train that day do not agree. And the video they can be heard telling the officer that asberry did nothing wrong. The woman sitting next to him insisted asberry was harmless. But San Francisco resident told us that does not justify what the officer did next. I dont think the second tase was necessary.
