Breaking news tonight, Police Arrest a man in connection with a string of arson. Our betty yu is live at the San Jose Police headquarters tonight with the very latest. Betty ken, the sant hose Police Department made this announcement in the last hour. This serial arsonist is accused of setting 13 fires in under a week. This is a sketch of the suspect Police Released over the weekend. Its based on witness description and surveillance video. Right now, we dont know the mans name or whether he resembles the man in the sketch. The circumstances that led to tonights arrest are also not known at this point. He will be booked in the Santa Clara County jail much to the relief of fearful residents who have been on high alert this past week. This happened in neighborhoods east of downtown san jose in the Early Morning hours. The San Jose Police departments covert Response Unit located the man tonight. They made the arrest, again, in the serial arsonist case, and the Police Department will have more details on this investigation tomorrow morning. The homeowner told police two men wearing ski masks came up to them outside his house on monday and pulled out guns. He says they forced him back inside and tied him up. The robbers took cash, jewelry and other items. The victim was able to free himself and call police, but not until after the men had left. And a close call for dozens of People Attending Church in hayward. A car came careening through the building out of nowhere. Thankfully, no one was hurt, and as Christin Ayers tells us, its mostly thanks to a Musical Instrument. About 30 seconds before, we heard a loud boom. It sounded like a car accident outside of haywards new Bridges Presbyterian Church on busy patrick street, but when Ralph Morales who runs the food program here came closer, this is what he found, an elderly pa rigser had pressed the gas instead of the brake yesterday afternoon launching her white toyota camry up a walkway and into an sanctuary tearing off the double doors and taking out an organ. How did this happen . Miraculously there were no bodies, just a big mess. The car came to a stop at an altar just beneath the massive crucifix. Even though the place was full of people, morales says not one person was hurt. Witness say if the car had hit the church just 15 feet from where it did, it would have run into a line of 70 families who had come to the church for free groceries. Morales says there would have been more damage had it not been for a Musical Instrument that has been here for 30 years. Anna warner shows us more of what firefighters saw that day from their point of view. Essentially two large openings, one in the middle of the fuselage and one in the front. The truck and helmet cam videos show firefighters risk their lives to get near and inside the burning plane. Historically, the rate for cats at this shelter has been at least 90 . Many of the dogs that end up at the stockton shelter start their lives here running wild off mlk and South Stockton scrounging for food and fighting to live. In just five minutes of searching, we found this chihuahua recently pregnant hunting for food in a parking lot. Stockton has the dogs and cats but not the means to get them into good homes. Dogs in the shelter often had to be euthanized within a week to make space for new animals. Knowing there was not a positive outcome for those animals. At the San Francisco spca, the problem was reversed. Theres not enough animals within the city to meet the adoption needs. The shelters teamed up. San francisco provided a fulltime vet and vet tech to stockton, a first in the San Joaquin County facility. The animals suddenly cared for, not sick, ready for a home. In 2013, 1,000 pets from stockton were adopted into bay area homes, a case of lady and the tramp come to life.
