In seattle, four people are death after a charter bus crashed into a duck boat tour vehicle. Dozens more were hurt when the duck boat slammed into the side of the bus on a bridge. At least two other vehicles were involved in the crash. Firefighters and paramedics set up atrial area at the scene. They treated at least 50 people right there on the bridge. We were coming around the curve and he was pointing out the harbor and next thing i know, we hit this bus and just spinning around. And people were being thrown out of the duck and things like that. The chinese consulate says the victims who died were all Chinese Students at a local college. The cause of the crash is under investigation. We have new information this afternoon about a missing family from benicia. The couple Adam Buchanan and molly and their 7yearold son gavin havent been seen since september 11. Its when they went to the cabin in the foothills. Its . The georgetown area east of auburn. The cabin burned down. There are human remains inside of it. This is remnants of the fire retardant dropped from up above down on to the flames. The cabin is behind this gate. I took a walk around the Property Line and through the woods to get a closer look. The cabin was burned to the ground. Its almost unrecognizable now. Charred rubble on a foundation in the backwoods in El Dorado County. While investigators work to formally identify the remains of the three people found inside the cabin, kpix 5 has learned investigators has learned they are focusing on Adam Buchanans 16yearold son at home in the bay area at the family home in benicia when investigators arrived with a search warrant. Detectives impounded a white pickup that was parked out front. The Sheriffs Department says the teenager was detained for a short while, while detectives searched the home for evidence. I candies close that our detectives have contacted him, yes. Reporter whats the situation with him . Is he not a suspect . Is everyone a suspect until we know what happens . At this point theres nothing were ruling out. Reporter we asked the buchanan family attorney about the young man. Was he up there at one time . Im not authorized to speak to that. Okay. Reporter kpix 5 has learned investigators here in El Dorado County have been asking neighbors to check their Surveillance Video for a white pickup truck leaving the area. And, in fact, one Business Owner says he found two video clips of the white pickup and handed them over to investigators. I will tell you this, detectives are a bit frustrated. Even though the family attorney has identified the buchanan family, the detectives are still waiting for experts to go through the rubble here to go through the remains and identify them formally and until then, their investigation is stalled. The boy ran on to mitty road just after school let out yesterday afternoon and a car hit him. Kpix 5s devin fehely is at the school right now. Devin. Reporter this terrible news spread as things do today on social media where sadness and grief and disbelief finally galvanized into a unique show of support for the young man and his family. With one of the classmates in the hospital fighting for his life, students at san joses Archbishop Mitty High School wore white in support for the freshman lucas angelo and his family. It was a tragic accident. No one is at fault. And we are hoping and praying that things will turn around. Reporter the 14yearold darted across the street and was struck by a car. The accident has sent shock waves through the schools closeknit community. So upset. Crying for hours, so was her sister. I cant imagine how the friends are feeling. Its just it breaks my heart. Reporter paramedics rushed lucas to the hospital. Police described his injuries as critical while friends have posted on social media that he suffered a traumatic brain injury. You send your child to school and expect them to come home safe. Lucas is not in this incidents. Reporter parents here at the school say this is a communities of faith that believes in the power of prayer. And they say that is exactly what they are doing for this young man and this family. The Bay Area News Group reports the 80yearold woman nearly crashed into the same gym earlier this year stopping just feet from the door. Reporter now this whales body has been on the move east bay Regional Park saying its a juvenile about 25 feet long. But they dont know its species. It washed ashore on rocky beach nearly 200 yards south of the Alameda Creek channel. U. S. Fish and wildlife tell us they first got reports of the whale near the san mateo bridge on saturday. And the tide brought it over to this area by the no name trail in fremonts coyote park. We are told from experts it is very rare for these animals to get washed up in this area. We dont get whales this far down in the bay. Its far too shallow. Yeah. So its very unusual. Reporter unfortunately for hikers and runners east bay Regional Park says that they are actually going to let this whales body stay here and decompose let nature take its course. The city of palo alto has closed one of its Public Libraries for the next two days because of a bedbug infestation. The pests were found in a couple of chairs at the Mitchell Park branch yesterday. The city says it is not uncommon for bedbugs to turn up in shared public spaces. A Pest Control Company is now treating the problem. It doesnt horrify me. Im a little surprised that in this brandnew beautiful library, we have bedbugs. [ laughter ] but, if i were a bug id probably want to choose this library to live in. Its pretty nice. It is. The chimpanzee was going like this. Reporter 50 kids from the Lake County International Charter School in middletown were the guests of honor at the San Francisco zoo. The school survived the fire. But many of the kids homes did not. And its been tough on everybody. Just to be able to get out and get away from that and have a break from that, you know, is really healing for them. Reporter while the zoo itself was fun, what was really great was being with friends again. The schools director says getting together and sharing their stories has made them feel less alone in coping with the traumatic situation. Because were all a big family and its affecting many people. Its not just a few people. Its a lot of people. Im so excited to be here with all my friends and here and see that they are okay from the fire. Reporter its not the kind of thing any kid should have to worry about. But if letting off a little steam at the zoo was meant to take their minds off it, it looks like it worked. In San Francisco, john ramos, kpix 5. The valley fire displaced more than 1200 people. Well, students at an east bay Charter School got quite the surprise today. Oakland Police Officers showed up and they had 10 bikes replacing ones that were stolen. On monday it seems students from a bike mechanics class found about a dozen of their nearly rebuilt road bikes gone. Several toolkits also missing. But today oakland Police Officers stepped in and some of them donated their very own bikes. Its our way of giving back to the community. These Young Children are doing the right thing. They have a robust Bicycle Program where they fix up bikes and donate them to local charities. We want to be part of that. Some were their personal bikes but most came from the Police Departments bicycle recovery units. Apple fans are camping out to get the iphone 6s coming tout tomorrow.
