A phoenix mother who is already on lifetime probation for child abuse is now under arrest again. Investigators say this time she beat her daughters. Donna rossi is live. Some of the did he thainls case are just disturbing. Reporter very much. So this is being held here at the estrella jail. The other suspect is this man. He is being held in the towers jail not far from here. This is a very disturbing story, one that if not reported, could have ended in the death of a child. A call to the child abuse hotline landed child safety workers at this apartment near 43rd avenue and thomas to check on a nineyearold that was reportedly being abused by her parents. Police got involved arrested Melissa Lloyd and michael duggar. Both denied ever using physical discipline. The couple is now charged with 17 counts each of child abuse, 16 scants for the nineyearold and one count for a second victim, her 10yearold sister. Police found the apartment nearly uninhabitable with bedbugs and roaches throughout. Records indicate the nineyear old was malnourished, had an infected blistertype injury on her back and bruises all ov indicated a number of recent and healing fractures of the arms, legs, shoulder, and ribs. Records indicate the 10year old admitted that her parents choke her nineyearold sister until she passes out and then say she is faking it. Two others defended their parents. At the time of her arrest Melissa Lloyd was on lifetime probation for a previous conviction of child abuse. The Court Documents there were at least four Young Children in that home. All of them been removed and placed in state foster care. The little girl who received the majority of the abuse we are told from those Court Records that she was removed from her parents when she was just two weeks old. State workers then returned her to her parents when she was about two years old. Reporting live in phoenix, donna ross sir, cbs 5 news. New tonight, police have identifieth discovered shot to death after their car crashed near a phoenix home early yesterday. Police say 20yearold Ronnie Roscoe and 17yearold Manuel Sanchez had been shot several times. They were likely shot within a few blocks of where they crashed. So far no suspects been identified but police are still investigating. Sierra vista police say a man killed his roommate and then, get this, stuffed the body in a suitcase in a closet, and then went on to host a the next day. Detectives say 50yearold keith white, seen here, later confessed to a killing to a relative who then called police. White has been arrested on suspicion of seconddegree murder. Right now Glendale Police are searching for a man who they say stabbed a family friend. Detectives say kelly kearns got into some kind of fight at their home near 63rd and camelback. Police tell us kearns pulled out a knife, then allegedly farrow and took off on a bike. Just 14 days now left until president ial election. Given the recent problems at the polls here in arizona, the feds will be keeping an eye on anything. The Justice Department says it will monitor the States Election and a u. S. Attorney will oversee everything to make sure federal voting laws are enforced. The Department Says it is to ensure free and fair elections. Kareems attorney asked for a new trial today. He was convicted of helping support isis. A state lawmaker accused of misusing food attaches has pleaded guilty. Cecilia velasquez was indicted for allegedly stealing more than 1700 in benefits. She reached a deal with the state pleading guilty to a misdemeanor. Reporter the middle of the pregnancy doctors discovered a massive tumor. It was a big shock and we were scared and i had just suffered a miscarriage the prior year. To think that i might lose another baby was very hard. Robbed the baby of blood. She would not have made it without this surgery ree. Reporter the doctor and his team at texas Childrens Hospital in houston performed an emergency fetal operation on the baby. At almost 24 weeks doctors pulled almost half of her body out of her mothers uterus and removed 90 of the tumor. Then came the challenge of putting her back in and closing the we have to get the tumor away, but then we have to make sure that the baby can stay safely inside for a number of weeks afterward in order to have any chance of survival. Reporter she was essentially born a second time 12 weeks later. Shes doing great now. Were practicing rolling over. Reporter doctors will continue to monitor her all the way into adulthood. So far she is reaching all of houston. Time to talk weather now, and the october heatwave continues. After having one day of cooler temperatures we warmed right back up today. 92 was our high, putting us above the average of 85 for this time of year. We started off with temperatures in the 60s. Lets talk about this heatwave and break it down just a little bit. So far we have had 21 consecutive days of 90 degrees or warmer, and for the entire month weve had 22. Month of october that weve seen temperatures like this. And, oh yeah, we are going to be adding to that. Take a look at the forecast versus the records over the next three days. The forecast is in the yellow column. The record is in the orange column. So as we head into tomorrow afternoon, were forecasting 95. We will get very close to the record. On thursday we could tie the record if we hit a high of 98. Some of the models are saying we could hit the triple digits weve seen numbers like that. And then as we head into friday we start to cool things down ever so slightly. No worries about breaking any records. Here is why were seeing all of this. Weve got this ridge of High Pressure that is pushing back in over the Desert Southwest which is once again sending the storm track up into the Pacific Northwest and then down and over the northern rockies. So were not getting that cooler air, and we are not getting the storm systems to push into our area.
