And then they put together a band called the band of gypsies and did their thing on New Year's Eve. 1969 News Night 1970 at the Fillmore East. And they had a whole session the whole thing the whole procession they had the Harlem Boys Choir I believe it was due to some opening act type stuff and then they did 4 sets now you can find it online and and figure out what was going on because. Back in the day only one album was release of the band of gypsies one night tracks not one night but one album a side a and b. . And. We knew people it was more this a bootlegs came out some other goodies. Made you know surface and then around 30 years later in 1999 the family had then gotten the whole that Jimmy's catalog and released a double cd of his stuff from that one session and Egyptians the 2 nights and then just last year they finally got serious and released the entire 1st set of the band of gypsies on an album called Machine guns I mean Hendrix Fillmore East 1st show 123-1969 and that's a masterwork my future but I'm out of that. Jimi Hendrix special Ricky visit here having a good time just getting going this craziness you're hearing. Is some old very obscure stuff Jimi Hendrix Ballad of Jimi s p v 085. By some folks that had the roots with the animals and the British invasion and they brought Jimmy to Europe gave an album gave me the band give me a tour and he toured the world in the Jimi Hendrix Experience 3 long here rock stars Jimi was the black one. And around 1989 after 2 and a half years of that Jimi said I want to go my own direction you have a lot of struggles with this band which is a man's death. Signed $1.00 contract with him. Which led to. Some legal problems when Jimmy went to Europe and got discovered and came back and the inevitable resolution to those legal problems with Jimmy old a different label one album and that one out and became the band of gypsies Jimmy's effort to really get into. A sound that I think he felt would be connected to the more connected to his roots and so I'm going to play the opening track from the machine gun session That's Jimi Hendrix in the Fillmore East to fight 1st show 123136 and their opening track is called Power of soul just imagine what was happening in 1969 I mean obviously the war and all the crisis but soul music was King and Jimmy and Buddy Miles doing a lot of vocals. We're basically talking about how much soul is in all of this music. About that could be a fake to be headed straight. For. And I'm loving that feeling that All Along The Watchtower alternate take vailable on a disc called South Saturn Delta that was for good when that drops maybe 10 to 20 years ago which is still current But Cramer has a visual engineer I went back and really wrapped up a lot of Jimmy's loose ends unfinished States and the Jimi Hendrix family is really packaging the music has been packed in the music and really effective way so you can really hear what was really going on back in the day yeah All Along The Watchtower Jimmy owning another bob dylan standard that's just how it is we also heard Bootsy Collins That's from an album 5 years ago Bootsy Collins. Funk Capital of the world that was called Mirrors tell lies and I love the way he brought Jimmy back to life with the voice and everything and he came to I think it was. Learned some of the craft from the master back in the day Jimi Hendrix I don't give him credit for being the the wise knowledgeable person that he is and so we got a clip here from. From the band of gypsies sessions and he gives an interesting shout out this is on the but they say the 4th set which is the 2nd set of the 2nd night the band of gypsies you can find this on live at the Fillmore the double disc.
