Geer im proud weve been able to take the nugget and make it a sustainable property property. But then came an unsolicited offer from marnell gaming. Marnell we were looking around for properites that may be a good fit for us and the nugget just kept coming up. The nugget was a perfect opportunity. Like the ascuagas the Marnell Company is a family group with a long history in nevada gaming, all of it in the south. They currently own two properties in laughlin. Marnell notes after years of flat revenues, northern nevada gaming has been leading the state and with a diversifying economy, he sees good times ahead. During his ownership ascuaga was known for his frequent walks around the property, talking with customers and employees. It wasnt just public relations. It was his manaqement style. He was listening. Marnell says he plans to do the same. Marnell ive made the mistakes of going into markets and you think you know what you should do and where you should take the property. I think god gave you two ears were going to listen to the community. Were going to learn from the team and the customers and were going to take it slow and be cautious and do good things every step of the way. And marnell says theres a lot here to build on. Specifically he mentioned the showroom as needing an upgrade. He says employees will see few changes, accepting everyone the day his Company Takes over. Of course all of this still needs approval from state gaming officials. Hes currently licensed in the south, so that should happen some time in the months ahead. As many know, this is been involved in the thats one reason polling isnt common at this timethere arent enough people who have made caucusing a tradition. While both local republican and democratic headquarters have been conducting caucusing training for the more its difficult to gauge which candidate will come out on top on february 20th and 23rd. Been polling in nevada since last december. Its a fact that has some in the National Media taking notice. Rachel maddow show courtesy msnbc and so no polling firm wants to screw up their average by proclaiming some sort of prediciton about how that race is going to go in nevada, when is predictable. The very nature of caucusing. As in the mockus, a mock caucus, those who have a preference going in could have their minds changed once inside. Another reason, pollsters wont do a survey until iowa and New Hampshire are finished with their events. Nevada is tough as it as a diverse and transitory population. Pollsters use land lines which makes gathering the information here tough. Prof. Fred lokken tmcc Political Science especially as you continue to go west americans are continueing to give up their land linessyou have to have people that are and as you move west, we are cynical, and we love to take a call because youve been bugging us, and lie to you through our teeth, because we dont want you to call us again. Lokken says another reason for limited polling, there is no agency, business, or institution that will pay for it. All of which makes the nevada caucuses and their results, truly the wild wild west. But lokken says make no mistake, we still have a major influence as to just who ends up in the white house the last poll taken by Gravis Marketing showed donald trump and Hillary Clinton the favorites in our state. Amanda tune in to good morning technically, theyre described as ripples in the fabric of space and time. But theyre also thought to be the holy grail of modern physics. Rachel crane exlplains a big breakthrough by scientists. For over a century, physicists have been trying to confirm the existance of Gravitational Waves. One of the last remaining pieces of einsteins theory of relativity. Einstein proposed that accelerating masses, such as two neutron stars or two black holes, cause distortions in the fabric of the universe. When those masses eventually merge, they set off a cataclismic event that shoots off he predicted that these waves travel across the cosmos at the speed of light, changing the shapes of the matter they encounter. In theory, these waves would eventually hit earth, but their detection has eluded us. An observatory called ligo has been using the most sophisticated optics, lasers and seismic isolation since 1988 to find them. Mit and caltech operate twin detectors that are located in livingston, louisiana and hanford, washington. The detectors are shaped like an l, and they shoot lasers down vacuum tubes that are twopointfive miles long. If Gravitational Waves pass through the detector, the distance the laser beams travel changes by a very small amount. Im talking ten to the negative nineteen meters or less. Why does all this matter . Well, unlike electromagnetic radiation, like radio waves and visible light, Gravitational Waves are unimpeaded by matter. So as they travel through the universe, they dont interact with matter. They slice right through it and remain pristine remnants of the past. Waves, we may be able to understand some of the fundamental questions about how our world works. High pressure will keep the weather dry and mild, with occasional high clouds through the weekend.
