patient tried to rape a nurse atd napa state hospital i happened yesterday in the hospital. it houses mostly patients sentenced there by the criminal court. a source tells abc 7 news the patient grabbed the nurse, trying to choke her. two other patients stepped in to stop the attacker. the suspect now being held in jail. the nurse appears to be okay physically but shaken up. this follows other violent attacks on staff there over the years. we have a crew following this story at 11:00. >> more breaking news now. cal train service about to resume in san francisco. police have just neutralized a situation near the tracks. the 22 nd street station shut down while police tried to catch an armed man above that station. police just caught him, and cal train is reopening the station but trains will be backed up had sometime now because of the hour-long stoppage. a major pile up clesed a busy freeway near antelope valley. you can see dozens of cars here. a drive rammed head on between santa clarita and lancaster, three victims we're told are in critical condition. all northbound lanes have been closed by the patrol there. is no estimate at this time on when that freeway will reopen. >> now in marin county today 79-year-old got up in front of a jury and gave an opening statement like a lawyer might have done. he is representing himself for murders of victim all of them prostitutes with matching initials in first and last names i'm not the monster who killed these women, he said. i dated and danced i don't kill people. abc 7 news reporter has more information. >> over three weeks i've traveled up and down the state read more than a thousand court documents and found mem that can connect this new victim to the suspect. tony remembers september 1993. >> i said what is the matter? >> keith is scheduled to testify in august. the da is deciding to wait until how the marin trial turns out. her parents died last year and never knew remains were found 15 years ago. another sad part of the story. >> a lot of shoe leather you put in on this. >> i sure did. >> victim of a disturbing assault during a high school home coming dance took the stand today in the trial of hear accused attackers. prosecutors say as many as 20 men assaulted the girl just 16 years ald at the time. the prosecution took jane doe back to the night the 16-year-old left a dance early because she didn't feel well. the night of what prosecutors called a brutal gang rape that went on for hours in a dark courtyard. jane doe answered questions in a ras py voice spoke directly at the dpeens table, two suspected attackers. she said a friend approached her as she was about to call her father. she said he asked her to join skmim three others in a picnic table in the courtyard. jane doe said she recalled seeing a bottle but didn't remember drinking from it. she told the court she remembers very little. i remembered not seeing anything. my eyes were closed and i was holding on to my necklace and getting kicked in the stomach. the prosecutor asked did you consent to have sex with anyone? no. did you dwrimpk those boys? no. she said i got up to stand up. and i woke up the next day at the hospital. a sex response nurse testified her face was swol skbren her body, including again talls were badly bruised. she testified when she awoke i felt very nauseous as if someone took my inside and stuffed it back in. prosecutor showed photographs of hefr injuries. her back covered with lacerations, bruises, dirt, and vegetation from being dragged on the ground. she told the court i felt a burning feeling they told me they put cigarettes out on my back. the defense attorney suggested jane doe contradicted her testimony asking if she told police she didn't feel that she was violated that night. jane joe's -- doe's answer?
