The Russian River in guerneville will crest tomorrow evening at 7 00 notice eveninin the evenin. We do expect moderate flooding there. All the water is headed south into napa, along the napa river. So we do see a crest there about 3 00 tomorrow morning. We do expect minor flooding. This is still two on the storm scale. Areas are still seeing water, and it does turn breezy. Later tonight, the napa river is expected to inundated this bridge. Vineyards are flooded, trees are down and debris is visible flowing downstream. A Flood Warning still in effect from 101. Well continue to have ponding on the roadway. We continue to have a Flood Warning in effect from campbell to los gatos till 6 30 in the morning. Its going to be some tough travel, not only tonight but even tomorrow morning. Well still have ponding on the roadways. Much of the region still under a flash flood watch. The potential is there at least through early tomorrow morning. If the downpour does move onshore it could cause another area of flooding. Even a rapid rise in a creek, and potential for rock or mudslides to occur. The rainfall, danville, 3. 5 inches of rain. Over an inch in San Francisco, nearly 3 inches in santa rosa. You can see why were having issues out there tonight after what was a wet weekend. On sunday, not to be outdone, the sierra has a winter storm warning in effect for heavy snow. This is feet, not inches, 2 to 3 feet at 4500 fefeet. Gusts at 60 Miles Per Hour does mean whiteout conditions. Back here at home, this storm system still at a two. A moderate system. Areas can still get flooded. Thats why its packing a punch, even though showers are losing their intensity. The threat is still there for downpours to develop. As we approach midnight, there is a chance that another line could develop bringing downpours, and thats why the threat of flooding is in the forecast. Even tomorrow morning were more settled, but the showers are more isolated in nature. Overnight tonight, upper 40s to mid30s. A cooler night on the way than yesterday. Hat first i thought it was thunder. We were in the kitchen, and you could see stuff coming through the roof. Reporter hows the snohouse . A mess. Reporter a truck outside was crushed. A golf cart was damaged. The tree now resembles a spiders web. Part of the home was so damaged that water is now leaking into the living area. The Building Department was called to the site. So was pg e. The tree belongs to a next door neighbor. Its a heritage oak measuring about 40 feet. Its kpleefed a combination of the soaked ground and gusty winds caused the tree to tomorr topple. In oakland, abc 7 found flash flooding. This is pretty common there during heavy rain. Our latest storms have dumped so much water in Northern California theyve made for dramatic before and after images. Kristin zee shows us just how much of a difference the rain has made. I thought the greatest difference was to juxtapose. I uploaded too different pictures of this reservoir, on the left from last september, look how low the water level was. So much of the reservoir bed exposed. On the right, the same reservoir today. You can see the water level dramatically higher. Everythings covered. What a difference. Lets take a look at the Russian River in the north bay. On the left, february 2014, it should have been a raging torrent. It wasnt. On the right, the river right now, almost the same spot at memorial bridge, raging water overflowing its banks. Now lets look at the transformation in the sierra. This is the truckee river. It was totally dried up at tahoe city. On the right, the same river today. The water, fast and furious. You know whos loving it . Tahoe ski resorts. I jux at thtaposed one more set images, hardly any snow in march of 2015. On the right i grabbed it just this afternoon, practically blizzard conditions that will dump another 16 inches of snow. Which one do you prefer . Kristin zee, abc 7 news. In a matter of months weve gone from drought to flooding and avalanches. The one on the right is what it looks like today. The dark red areas show areas of exceptional drought. The white areas are those areas no longer in a drought. The state recommends we continue to limit water usage, because so much of the state is still considered to be in a drought. That is really encouraging, but it shows you how far we have to go. Lets update forecast. Well get the latest Drought Monitor coming out early thursday morning with all the recent rain, were surely going to see that white area expand in coverage, getting more and more areas out of the drought. The next storm will arrive wednesday night into thursday flooding even though its a light storm. We would see more areas get more flooding. Wednesday night into early thursday is when the storm system arrives. Its not impressive in nature. But any little rainfall can make a huge issue after the days of weather we have seen.
