North of rome. Reporter tonight, rescuers are in a race against time clawing through the rubble to find survivors. Rescue teams have been working with dogs in the town. One of the dogs seems to have alerted on this rubble. They put a listening device in there hoping against hope. Reporter dozens already rescued from under the huge piles of stone and wood. This man speaking to an 80yearold woman pinned beneath a collapsed building. Can you breathe, he asks her. Telling her to stay calm and we are waiting for help to come. And help did arrive. She was eventually saved and brought to a hospital to recover. And this afternoon more signs of life in the rubble. Rescuers pull a little boy and then a little girl out of the wreckage, both survivors. Overwhelmed residents banding together with rescue workers to help anyone still trapped. Moving debris like an assembly line. This team working in near silence tirelessly to hear anyone who might be calling for help. Officials say the death toll is steadily rising. At least 159 now declared dead. Those are the hardest moments. Its been just over 17 hours since the quake. Theyre still pulling bodies of the out rubble. It rocked central italy after 3 30 this afternoon. The shaking at this Hardware Store near the epicenter. You couldnt see anything. Some people grabbed their phones. We made our way got garden. Reporter many people spending their night outside. The quake so strong it was felt nearly 100 miles away in rome. But it was when the sun rose that people saw the full breadth of destruction. The view from above shows some of the devastation. A mayor saying his town isnt here anymore. The before and after pictures of main street a testament to the destruction. This is reduced to rubble. We walked through the ruined streets through the devastation and the aftershocks. Now with nowhere to go, some residents taking refuge in a tiny field as officials bring in backhoes and bulldozers to get to anyone trapped before time runs out. This mans relative is still stuck under a building. They made us live just like that, he says. Theyre left under the rubble. The search for survivors is underway in myanmar following a magnitude 6. 08 earthquake there. The quake was centered near the former capital of pagan. Right now the death toll is at 4 with nearly 200 ancient buddhist temples destroyed. It was felt as far away as bangladesh and india, sending residents into the streets. He continues to punch her dragging her to the ground and hitting her repeatedly. The woman didnt fight back. She was defenseless. The attack happened on washington street. Police say the man earlier approached the woman while she was walking in the park but she did not speak to him. She told police she had never seen the man before. She had not encountered him before that. She was clearly on a walk in that area and saw him run up out of the corner of her eye and he said words and started attacking her. Thats unmanly. Thats inhumane. Yeah. Thats awful. Im very surprised. So were going to have to have a gathering and be able to pay for some guards. The womans nose was broken in several places. The man got away. San Francisco Police are looking into the fact that a medical emergency caused a taxi driver to cash. A shoe shiner and his assistance were injured. One is in Critical Condition the other is listed as fair. They are also looking into if there was a mechanical problem. Some rubble is on scene today. The cab driver reportedly apologized for the crash. Saturday police say they busted the gang of thrones. The sweep resulted in nearly two dozen arrests, including a member of the police department. Reporter the neighbors took their complaints to the city council and the vice mayor and they took the concerns straight to the top and found next door ceo receptive. When it comes to the content that people are posting, we care more about quality than quantity. Reporter being receptive didnt necessarily translate into quick action.
