I think we have to be very vigilant and careful with people that are voting. Reporter trump election rhetoric causing another split with Speaker Paul Ryan, who disagrees with the notion. Is paul ryan hurting you or helping you . Well, i dont want to be knocking paul ryan. I think he could be more supportive to the republican nominee. Were doing well. And this morning, allegations of a quid pro quo. The implication here that a Top State Department official was trying to protect Hillary Clinton from the political fallout of having classified information on her private server. The state department and the fbi say it never happened. But republicans say not so fast. The stars were out for a big Hillary Clinton fundraiser overnight in new york. Billy crystal, Sarah Jessica parker, barbra streisand, just to name a few, all raising at least 2 million. Newly released notes from fbi interviews about clintons private server, in them, what republicans are calling this bombshell. An fbi staffer accuses a Top State Department official of pressuring the bureau to declassify an email found on that server. The fbi staffer telling investigators that the request amounted to a quote quid pro quo. Adding in exchange for marking the email unclassified, state would reciprocate by allowing the fbi to place more agents in countries where they are presently forbidden. The fbi and state department say the deal never happened. There was no quid pro quo and that the email in question remained classified. There was no quid pro quo. Reporter donald trump pouncing. This shows corruption at the highest level. And we cant let it happen as american citizens. Reporter clintons team still feeling confident about the election, expanding efforts in republican territory and in arizona three big name surrogates, bernie sanders, chelsea clinton, and the heaviest hitter of all, michelle obama, all headed there this week. Clinton herself still off the campaign trail, behind closed doors, george, shes practicing for tomorrows debate. Big event tomorrow night, cecilia, thanks very much. Lets talk to matthew dowd about all of this. We know the Clinton Campaign now going big into arizona, making some kind of a play in indiana and missouri, as well. So the question, is this smart politics or overconfidence . Well, i think its a little bit of both. I think its fairly smart to force your opponent shes now playing on her opponents side of the field. And the clock is on her side. The clock is running out. She has a lead. But it is demonstrating a little bit of overconfidence. Because shes not put away oy ohio. And has not fully put away north carolina. And she has not put away florida. So she has to protect those states, because she wants to win one of those states. But i think she has a real shot of carrying arizona. Even though she doesnt need one of those three big states she wants it for security going meantime, lets look ahead to tomorrow night. The final president ial debate. Lets talk a little bit about what each candidate has to do. Donald trump, we have seen what hes doing. Hes going to try to provoke a mistake from clinton. She has almost wrapped this race up. Shes got a Huge National lead. She has a lead in almost every state. He has to win but he cant just have a bare victory but a big victory. And he has to hope that for some reason, that debate, she does something that all of us are going to be talking about for the three days following. The danger for her would be sort of overcautiousness. Well, i think shes going to go in and she knows that running out the clock is what she needs to do. If she goes in like she did in the first debate, like she did in the second debate, and does well, shes going to win this race. Okay, matthew dowd, thanks very much. Reporter youre looking at Fairbanks Police officer allen brandts dash cam, responding to a call of shots fired sunday morning. The first thing he sees is a man on the right walking towards him. Then suddenly the same man rushes to the drivers side of the patrol car with a gun raised, shooting the 11year veteran and times in the lower part of his body and once in the chest. Sergeant brandt was wearing body armor which protected his chest area. He sustained injuries to his legs and shrapnel in his left eye. He is awake, alert, and in stable condition. Reporter the suspect is seen one last time calmly walking away after stealing the patrol car and dumping it a few blocks later. This Morning Police say an urgent manhunt is on. The alleged attempt on police, one of several targeting officers in recent weeks. In vallejo, california, this officers with guns drawn chasing a man they say tried to attack them while they were having coffee sunday. A man with a rifle just tried to ambush us at starbucks. Carrying a rifle. Hey, shoot him Reporter Police say 41yearold adam powell was wearing body armor and had a handgun and an assaulttype rifle on him. Came up to the glass and pointed a rifle at us. Reporter the gun apparently jamming as he approached. Officers chased him shooting and wounding powell who was also a person of interest in the shooting of his 2yearold son injured earlier that day. We presume that this was a premeditated ambush on our officers. Reporter in alaska, Sergeant Brandt is very lucky to be alive. Now lets go to amy with the other top stories, starting with more trouble for air travelers. Three top airlines suffered major computer problems overnight. Some passengers couldnt make online reservations or check in with southwest, jetblue or Virgin America for hours. The airlines say it was a technical issue, not a hack. The system is now back up and running. Well, russia has agreed to an eighthour ceasefire in syria to allow civilians to flee from eastern aleppo. Ten more children were reportedly killed in air strikes on monday. Those air strikes have now been halted. A former vice chairman of the joint chiefs of staff faces possible prison time aft pleading guilty to lying to the fbi. Retired marine general James Cartwright admits making false statements during an investigation into a leak of classified information. Under a plea deal, prosecutors will recommend no more than six months behind bars. Cartwright is a former abc news contributor. And a man in arizona learned the hard way when you lock yourself out of your house, the chimney is not a viable option. He was stuck for four hours until fire crews pulled him out. In her interview with fox news she is very clear she is her own woman and no one will make her do anything she doesnt want to do. Robin and george. Okay, linsey, thanks very much. Cokie, as linsey pointed out in the piece right there, real echoes of Hillary Clinton both in 1998 and 1992, question today is how effective was it . Probably not terribly effective, in the same way that Hillary Clinton wasnt terribly effective in those interviews. Story alive, for one thing. But another is that Melania Trump is, in some ways, not terribly recognizable to a lot of voters. During the Republican Convention i interviewed a number of republican female delegates who basically said that they couldnt relate to her. She was too beautiful, she was too rich. And that they didnt see her as an authentic person. In the same way that people see michelle obama, for instance. She was very much goingft it seems like that was part of the strategy in having her come out and speak, cokie. Well, in some ways i think that that in some ways was her most effective part because it was about her as opposed to being about her husband where she said they went after me so why not . But, again, that brings up her past. And gives people excuses to put out nude pictures of her, which is not terribly helpful to the campaign. Would say to be effective is see her publicly accepting her husbands apology. Well, which, of course, she did in the statement and now shes done publicly, as well. But, again, i dont think that that is something that people would expect her to do anything else but accept his apology. But, you know, look, looking at voters who basically say they dont care. Weve got weve got a very partisan electorate right now, what i do think might be true is that it might have energized some of Hillary Clintons voters to say we dont want this man. I know, raddatz was here picking up on what you were just saying, cokie, Martha Raddatz was here, she spoke to voters who basically said, it doesnt matter. It doesnt matter what he did. So is a bigger deal being made out of it than it really is . Well, i think that no, i really dont think so. I think even if it doesnt matter to a lot of voters who are very firmly set in their place, that it has started a national conversation, robin. True, true. Little bit empowered by. That theyre saying, this is this is not okay. And theres a whole twitter site, not okay, with thousands of women on it now telling their own stories. He is saying that they dont have integrity, so i asked one of the Republican Leaders hes talking about last night, i moderated a debate here in florida last night between the senate candidates. And i asked marco rubio about this. Listen to his response. Theres been a lot of question about the legitimacy of this election. Donald trump has said this election is absolutely being rigged. This election is not being rigged. And ill explain to you why its not being rigged in florida. And why i hope he stops saying that. Why he should stop saying that. We have 67 counties in this state. Each of which conduct their own elections. I promise you there is not a 67county conspiracy to rig this election. Well, and that heres another thing, robin, when you talk about this, local Election Officials in much of the country are republicans. In fact, in the two biggest battleground states, ohio and but, jon, what do they do to ensure the elections are fair and because of what donald trump is saying, do you think this year theyre extra careful . Reporter oh, yes, i think there will be an eagle eye on all of the election largely because of what donald trump is saying. But really, this was the case before donald trump uttered the word rigged. I mean, i was down here covering the florida recount in 2000, believe me, after that process, people did a big scrub of the lawyers for both parties, this is something that has been looked at very carefully for a long time. Good point there, jon. All right. Well, thank you, jon. Now to outrage over a 911 dispatcher accused of hanging up on more than 800 emergency calls. Shes now facing two misdemeanor counts with potentially more to come. Legal analyst areva martin joining us now. Investigators say she may have than the 800 that they e know about, including one that ended in a fatality. But have you ever heard of anything like this . No, michael. This is an outrageous case. This woman Crenshanda Williams may have hung up on thousands of callers, and as you said, two really serious cases. One involving an Armed Robbery where there was a fatal shooting. And a second one involving a woman who became unconscious. Her husbands calling 911 talking to miss williams trying up on him. Now, fortunately for this woman, shes revived and she has survived this ordeal. But these are very serious accusations against someone who was entrusted with a very serious job of providing emergency assistance. And she just said she didnt have time for the callers. Accusations, areva and also charges. Two misdemeanor charges. What do you make of that . Well, i think the law thats being used to prosecute miss williams wasnt really designed for someone in her situation. Dispatcher whose job was to provide assistance. But at least she is facing some jail time. Possibly up to a year. And her supervisors are also being disciplined. Boy, thats the last thing you expect when you call 911. Areva, thank you. We move on to the controversy surround a top ranked tennis player. Australias nick kyrgios banned the rest of the season when he seemingly just quit during a match. Take a look. [ crowd booing ] doesnt even try for it. So, Patrick Mcenroe, lets talk i mean, when youre wamping this, you horrendous. You played at the top level. Of the sport. Thank you for saying that. They banned him for the rest of but they gave him an option, that if he goes to see a sports psychologist and gets some help, which i believe he needs, that he could get the ban reduced and be ready to play at the Australian Open start of next year. I think that was the right decision by the tour. Maybe that will take him to the next level. It should. It could and i think for him hes got to look in the mirror and realize that hes got a problem. I think he realizes that and he has said in some Facebook Comments and some twitter comments that he realizes he because initially, he was very combative. He was yelling at people in the crowd. Richard besser joining us now with that and lets say right up were talking and youve got nearly 10 of americans have this. An 1 in 3 are sort of socalled prediabetic. So thats a lot of people right there. How much exercise do people need to reduce this risk . So this is really interesting. They looked at 28 studies that followed thousands of people over many years to try to address that. And what they found was if you do the 30 minutes five times awea ek greatly reduces the amount your risk of getting type 2 diabetes. If you do more than that, your risk goes down even further but what really grabbed me was that if you do less, if you do only ten minutes a day, you get some benefit compared to people who do nothing so every bit helps. You shouldnt be put off by the fact i dont have enough time. Right, but more is more and timing was also very important in the study, correct . So, a separate study looked at people who had type 2 diabetes and said, okay, youve got your 30 minutes to do, do you do it as one block or do you break it up . So they had people for one period of time do it in one other period of time, they did ten minutes right after eating a meal. And what they found is, if you do the ten minutes, just go for a tenminute walk after you eat your meal, it greatly reduces blood sugar. 22 lower blood sugar with just a tenminute walk. No, she with our dinner she just started her initiative with lets move so focused a lot on vegetables, we had a lot of vegetables and i see that mario dinner as well so this initiative about healthy and better food for our country is definitely coming through on this menu as well. Jarrius robertson is one inspiring teenager who caught the eye of his Favorite Football Team and mine. Im talking about Orleans Saints. Who dat nation rise but hes got the strength, you know, he is a little guy but has the strength of someone like you a hall of famer. Well talk to him and have some surprises for him but first jarrius story. Hi, brother. Reporter jarrius jair isnt your average new Orleans Saints fan. Im your size. Reporter what you call a have wheels. Well put one of those in. Touchdown. Reporter he attends practices and games and even shows them a little tough love. Youre trying to do stuff thaw cant do. Youre trying to be mr. Showoff. Reporter this quality time with his Favorite Team keeps jarrius spirits up as he faces a serious illness, the 14yearold has been battling chronic Liver Disease his entire life which has affected his physical growth and hes currently on the waiting list for a liver transplant. In the hospital for 7 to 14 days is kind of rough for a kid. Reporter he met the st. One year ago during one of his extended hospital stays at ochsner hospital for children. Im scared of him. You should be. I got down in a threepoint stance and said you want to go and he said, ill hurt you. Im good. I hear you do a mean drew brees imper nation. Anything to get the word out that becoming an organ donor can help save a lot of peoples lives. Thats rue. Throughout the whole ordeal, there for us, they have been our inspiration, our backbone.
