He was slapped in handcuffs and put in the back of this black suv as nearby for the gun. Dps says he may have ditched it in the area where he was caught. Back out here live, dps cleared the scene about 45 minutes ago. The name of the suspect has not yet been released. Thank you. What a difference a year makes. This time last year, adot started tearing down homes in ahwatukee to make room for the freeway. Fast forward to today, for that megaconstruction project that will be the extension of the 202. You know, to get to this point, theres been lot of back and neighborhoods were demolished to make room. One of those lawsuits was filed by the Gila River Indian Community and residentings. Theyve been trying to stop this freeway. A judge ruled that this expansion could happen but a local group says theyre going to appeal that decision. Theyre calling it an unbelievable travesty of law. The state on notice to answer a civil lawsuit filed in the freeway shootings case. That is because yesterday year since merritt, jr. s arrest. His lawyer is taking swings at the state in a civil suit. They put the state on notice for 10 million in damage and now not naming a price but instead a price decided by a jury. His lawyers say his life is not close to what it was before the arrest. People still confront him in the street. But this street specifically is going be blocked off for a few hours. Mcso says they are investigating a homicide, a deadly shooting that happened over the weekend at one of these homes. They arent saying much about the suspects or victims or what happened here. We do have calls placed in to mcso and were hoping to get more information as the morning progresses. We know deputies are going to be out here for a while as they continue this deadly investigation at this home in guadalupe. Thank you.
