We had a few sprinkles. They lasted just a few seconds and the sun is coming back out. The big question will it be too wet r said they do have a plan in place just in case it gets really wet. Were talking about 64,000 students going back to school. We have 80 schools out there. They do have a plan in place in case it does get too wet. Each principal has a plan and of the district has folks on standby as far as maintenance goes. They have groundskeepers and extra people on standby this morning. Also, school buses, if the roads get too wet and her alternative routes. And some schools are prone to flooding. They have sandbags in place already this morning. Those could bubble up and lead to stuff like this. Air15, looking at heavy rain falling near the deer valley airport. It is a very isolated shower but it is heavy enough to leave wet roads in that area. Deer valley, you will be impacted in anthem you were up next as this batch of heavy rain moves to the east and northeast. Right now you can see on radar the airport is now getting east and northeast. We had some heavier showers along the i17 and loop 101 interchange. Those roads will be wet but you notice the heaviest rain is pushing to the northeast. That will continue to track toward higher terrain and eventually cave creek, it could bypass you, especially to the west. A few sprinkles building behind this but not much so far. We are seeing another area of showers in nort that will also move to the northeast heading along the loop 101 carter in the Northeast Valley. We had another popup shower, justin mentioned he felt sprinkles in mesa. Those were very brief and quickly fizzled out before moving up toward loop 202. We have a chance for showers through the morning. As we get daytime heating some of that will create produce very heavy rain. Know that storms will be possible through the day today. 84 degrees is the temperature right now. We will make it into the upper 90s this afternoon with all of that monsoon moisture. Any storms that develop will have the potential for producing flooding rain and flash flooding. We have Flash Flood Watches posted across the entire state through 11 pm. A 50 chance for storms today. Storm changes gradually drop tomorrow but there is a or isolated threat friday before we start to dry out as we head into the weekend. I want to head back to the north valley where were seeing a couple crashes. You can see adot moving our camera. They are showing the backup on the westbound side of loop 101. They had to stop traffic to clear this crash. It looks like traffic is moving again. You can see the crash on the lefthand side. Moments ago they let traffic move again. Loop 101 westbound near 35th. This crashes near i17 in the westbound direction. Lets go over to the traffic map. Besides that you are seeing slowing in the eastbound direction. That is the busiest part typically in the morning. From 59th avenue until you hit i17 you will see sluggish conditions in the eastbound direction as well. North valleys drivers need to take it easy this morning. We have seen some crashes in the past couple of minutes. Looking at the desert drive times on i10, this is eastbound from 101 to the 17, about 17 minutes. Slowing starts near 75th avenue. Besides that, the rest of the valley, looking at the 51, 101 come east valley is very quiet. We will look at some of the spots where you could see delays in a couple minutes. Virus. Much of the valley is quite this morning with the exception of the north valley. As we go through the day there is a chance for showers and thunderstorms throughout the day. It has been a busy day from the live desk and a violent morning. We have been tracking officers on the hunt at this moment, stemming from a in a north phoenix neighborhood. Police are trying to nail down a suspect description. Last time the shooter was seen, he was speeding away in his car after he hit one of the victims. You can take action to protect your homes with sandbags. This is the list of the fire stations in mesa that have sand and bags ready. A reminder to bring your own shallow.
