A tenminute desert drive time. There is if you are traveling eastbound from the 101 until you hit the 17. I want to give you where we are have a crash. Its not a huge traffic impact. This is i10 eastbound right at elliott road. It was blocking some lanes, but everything is off on the right. Watch out for that. We are hearing of a crash . Scottsdale that has shut down a portion of the road. Well give you details on that. First on abc 15. Happening right now, we have a Community Alert for people near 32nd street. Have you heard about this. Its a haz mat situation going on right there. Justin was first to tell us about these injuries here. Hes been on the scene for us this morning. Justin, originally it was three. Then it was four. Then five. Now six firefighters. What is the situation . Hey chris, we just got that update. I can tell you that five of those officers. They have some sort of respiratory problem. When we first got on here, just this very thick haze of basically chlorine was all over this area. We are at 32nd right now. Those firefighters were taken to the hospital. We have another firefighter that was injured. They believe his knee was injured as he was trying to put out this fire. Basically what we have is this pool supply store. It caught on fire. There were crates of chlorine in there. Basically, the Fire Department said that when that water they were using to put out the fire hit that color lean, chlorine, it basically expanded. They have quite a big mess they are dealing with right now. The important thing is they dont believe that the air quality is a threat. At this point, but they said they are going to be out here all through the day trying to clean this up, trying to figure out exactly what started it. As for 32nd street or mcdowell from 32nd street to 36th street, it is completely completely shut down. They dont expect that to open until sometime around 10 00. Live in phoenix, abc 15. There is a question that this shooting could be linked to this phoenix serial killer. This is a story we are following very closely coming out of phoenix. The manhunt is intensifying for the serial street it shooter. A person was shot and killed in 51s aver and mcdowell. This is the same area of several of those serial shootings. This is the aim same area targeted by the serial street shooter. Here is what we know. Around 9 30, a man was shot in near his car. Detective sass i the victims did not live at the home where he was killed. This scene is less than two miles from the 67th avenue where a man well garcia was killed. Its also less than two miles from the triple murder off of 67th avenue in berkeley. Ellis and her 12yearold daughter were killed in their driveway just listening to music. Back out here live right now, detectives are trying to street shooter. They are trying to nail down a description of that geta getaway car. Well bring you that at home. Five minutes after 5 00, we are waiting to learn more information as police are looking for two men and a woman who workers say are accused of carjacking. Employees told her they believe they got everything on Surveillance Video so hopefully we can help police track down those three people and get a good look. We put approximate this on abc 15. A man in his 40s was rushed to the hospital with lifethreatening injuries after he was stabbed. He was stabbed right in the neck according to officers. We have some video as we take you to the scene. Roosevelt. To be more specific, its right off moorland. Officers say he had been stabbed in the neck. No witnesses were on the scene. Right now, they dont know if this person was robbed or assaulted or a fight or dropped off at this location. A lot of questions remain at this hour as that person was taken to the hospital. You used to go what . In the middle of the night. Words Jessie Wilson. In is all thanks to newly released body cam footage in april of this year. As we reported, that is when neighbors found jessie. He was just down the street from his buckeye home. It hits you hard when you hear his voice. Its been exactly a month since the tenyearold went missing. We broke the news about the home in 2011 on tuesday when police found two kids had been tied to beds after reports of child abuse there. One neighbor seeing those straps. Reporter even before Police Charged her with Second Degree murder, she told that her boyfriend put a gun in her face the night he died in may of 2014. Struggled because i wasnt going to let go. Reporter prosecutors say it is all a lie saying that for 13 months she pretended she was pregnant with his child and the fight broke out when he learned the truth. This may slow you down especially through the west valley where we are seeing the more widespread rain through this morning and the more consistent rain adding that rain, or rather making those roads much wetter. It certainly could be a slick we know this could be an impact to traffic. Right now, raining not parts along the 10 along goodyear near avondale also raining not sun city and parts of glendale. This is impacting spots along grand avenue, and you can see also the 17 up in anthem. Really, that is where the most widespread rain is. We do have some scattered showers near the loop 202 and the u. S. 60 in the southeast valley. And we have some storms moving through qu the potential is there for this batch of rain to sweep across the valley as we go through the morning. There is more off to our west. These rain chances staying elevated through the morning commute. Scattered showers for your drive into work. Watch for those wet roads, those slick spots, possibly some ponding water on those roadways especially in the west valley. There is a chance for some isolated storms. We are starting to see less lightening. This is more of a shower event as we go through the morning commute. By this afternoon, especially if we manage to clear out think we will after this morning rain, we could see more storms move book the phoenix metro. Its not going to be as hot either. Temperatures will only make it in the low 100s in most valley cities today. Storms will fire up back across the terrain. As long as we manage to get enough clearing in the valley which it does look like we will, we could see some storms move back boo the metro by this evening, and that could make for an interesting evening commute. Today is going to be a great day handy. You can see exactly where the rain is falling. Temperaturewise, we are going to see those temperatures drop especially as we head into the weekend. The only snag we have on the freeway is still this crash. It is i10 eastbound at elliott. Everything is off on the right hand side. Traffic is picking up just a little bit but just kind of stay to the some extra space. Besides that, take a look at our traffic map from the speeds you might be seeing as you hit the road. Well switch over and give you a look. Heading in towards the 101 or the 10. That is the one crash. And you will see maybe some wet spots or slick spots on the 17 and the 101 not impacting your speeds. We will take a closer look that the issues that you could see. And carlos football. I wanted to start you off with some positive news here. Lets talk about the rain that has been moving to the valley. That is coming not p. Dont let your guard down. We have some more storms moving out. That is tracking east, so we are not in the clear. Possibly a wet commute for forecast next, mallory. Lets give you a quick look at the roads. West valley drivers could be dealing with some slick spots as you mentioned. Not doing bad as far as your speeds go. Valleywide, youre not going to see too many issues. Off of the freeway, we have road closures. Mcdowell road closed in both directions. This is because of that fire, that hazmat situation at the pool supply store there. It sounds like this could be closed through your morning commute. Your smart route is going to be abc 15 is outliver. Six firefighters injured. Five of those firefighters have some sort of respiratory problem because of all of the chlorine in the air. Lets take a look at that video. Loaded up into the ambulance. That was the sixth firefighter being taken away. You can also see them hosing off some of those firefighters trying to get that dangerous chlorine chemical off of those firefighters. Whether i got here, i could tell you that there was real when i got here, i could tell you there was a thick haze of that chlorine. Firefighters say it wassic trimly dangerous. We just extremely dangerous. Our weapon of choice was water. Most chemicals dont like water. They dont react well with water. Chlo them. Its kind of funny if you put it in your pool. Once it is super heated and you put water to it and you vaporized it and it is super heated in the air. Reporter those firefighters have respiratory problems. They were taken to the hospital as a precaution. Another firefighter has a knee injury. The good news out of all of this is that the residents in this area, although it for at first there was a smoky laze in the area. It is okay to be here. They fine. Mcdowell street is expected to be shut down for rush hour. Thanks for that update here at 5 33. It has been more than a month since that serial street shooter in phoenix has struck. This morning, there were concerns that this guy may have struck again. Katie conner has been following an incident that has happened. 51s avenue. Katie, lets get to do you. You have brand new information on this investigation and the questions ou asking. I just talked to an officer. He says it is just too early to tell if it is connected to the serial street coshooter. There are some erie similarities. Crime tape is blocking off the entire street of where the shooting happened late last flight. It happened around 9 30. Neighbors told police they heard gunshots and a car screech ago way. When officers got here, they found a victim in a driveway near his car which is similar to the four murders connected to the serial street shooter. On the lefthand side of your screen is where Manuel Garcia died in a driveway on june 10 00. On the righthand side of your screen is the scene of a triple murder on june 12th. Two women and a 12yearold girl were killed sitting in their car listening to music. Detectives are trying to identify this victim. They do tell me that he did not live at the louse where he was killed, so again, as soon as we learn more about the suspect description, well pass it along to everyone at home. Reporting live in phoenix, 5 35 now. First, he confessed to his priest, and now hes coming clean to detectives about being addicted to child pornography. Detectives found more than 200 miles of files of the 38yearolds computer. And he admitted the downloading for the last four years. He knew it was wrong he con fin faded with his priest. Neighbors say it was like he wouldnt expect to get a speeding ticket, let alone Something Like this. That is not the john that i know. So very disturbenning and disheartening. He delivered pizza for a living. Detectives have not connected his victims to anybody he might have let in person. Well, was it intentional or an accident . We are hearing from a glendale man who is under investigation for animal cruelty. Back in june, a sixmonthold Chocolate Lab died in the left outside on a balcony. Told police it happened out of ignorance that he didnt have any bad intentions. We messed up. And he said for me and i am paying for every single men. It seemed like my kids cried. The road closed southbound between Thompson Peak parkway and legacy boulevard due to a crash in scottsdale overnight there. We are working to get some more details regarding the injuries and what exactly happened here. It actually happened north of bell. Four people have nonlife threatening injuries. It is the latest information we have receiveed. There are reports that the call at one point was on fire. Still working to detail that. I want to pass along that Traffic Alert as well. Breaking overnight, we take you where one person was killed. And it happened right there along mill avenue and baseline road. It started as some sort of fight between two groups, it sounds like. Two men were shot. One was injured. The other died. Officers arent quite telling us details about the suspect. One witness saw a suspect kick off on a motorcycle. 5 37. New progress made in one of californias wildfires. It is in 4 containment there. The weather in the dry brush is helping that fire to spread. The blue cut fire about 70 miles to the east of los angeles. The flames we know have burned through over 25,000 acres while more than 1300 crew members are working on that fire. Some of them are going doorto door to try to save pettings because the homeowners are just not allowed to go back into their neighborhoods at their homes. A live look right now this morning from the blue cut fire. Again, this looks to be a helico root route to that area. Not a lot to see as they pan the camera around. There is some fire, some of the flames and some of the smoke. Certainly it doesnt look too bad from above. Looks can be deceiving as the blue cut fire continues to burn this morning. I am on the northwest side. And i am in the 60 in sun city. It looks like this area may get a little bit of rain where we were on the 10 earlier. Let me flip the camera around because look how dark these clouds look and heavy. It looks like they are ready to dump some rain. We are going to be out here ready for that as soon as it happens so we can bring that to you. We are seeing a few lightening strikes, not as much as we saw before. This is somein to continue to see. We have had these widespread showers across the west valley. Now you can see more widespread action is really northwest of deer valley, and were starting to see those showers really break up across spots like glendale. So not as wet as we have earlier. As allison and i have more rain out to our west and southwest. You can see another cluster of showers and even storms. And those are also tracking to the east, so towards the valley. That is where it is important this morning to not let your guard down. There is that potential for scattered showers here for the morning commute. And of course, we have those thick clouds out there. We could get, rather, some scattered showers under some of those thicket clouds in the morning commute. We have that 30 chance for rain through that 6 00 hour. After that, those storm clans start to trend down, and well actually get a li lull through the middle of the day, even some clearing in those skies. By later this afternoon and evening, those Storm Chances are gradually going back up especially if we manage to clear out these clouds quick enough this morning. Temperaturewise, we are sitting at 89 at phoenix sky harbor. Were going to warm up back into the hundreds, but its going to be a slower warmup with our temperature up to 94 by 10 00. Then well still be in the 90s by lunchtime as those clouds are clearing out. Your high today is 105. So about four degrees yesterday. And over the next few days, Storm Chances go down. The freeways are quiet, i am seeing some flashing lights on u. S. 60. This is u. S. 60 westbound. It is right at rural road. Not looking like a huge traffic impact. I didnt think the Census Bureau did personal visits. Is this a scam . Or maybe this one from preston. My wife and i received what we thought was an opportunity. We have done some research and didnt find much on this company. The company is hero energy based in china. The email says preston is a suitable match. Preston said warn others in the valley if this is the final contestant from cathy who received an email from the United States office of personnel management. It talks of a malicious cyber intrusion against the u. S. , and we have learned that determined that your Social Security number and other personal information was included and shes supposed to go to some website. So two are real. One is a scam. It turns out there is a legitimate census, the American Community survey that is going on right now, and there was a cyber intrusion where personal it is unclear if it is weatherrelated or Something Else that happened. You are seeing the weather rumble through that area. And that is where some of the strongest storms were. Earlier this morning. That could be a weather issue. We had a lot of lightening in that area too. Now, as we are kicking off the day with, of course, that daylight finally. Youve can still see those dark clouds behind me, and i have spotted a few flashes of look out in the western direction out near the australias. Most of the lightening has really kind of diminished and mostly just rain. Still seeing a lot of those thick clouds as we look live. Let me show you what is on abc 15 desert doppler. That rain is not as widespread across the west valley but still tracking showers in the northwest valley. We have scattered showers in the glendale area and goodyear impacting spots along the 10 too. This is why i said this morning you really have to keep an eye out and give yourself extra even though we are not seeing as widespread of rain, there is still a chance of showers. We know that could be a bit of a slow down. Mallory will have an update on roads in just a bit. And a lot of that rain. River now up into anthem but still impacting spotting not sun city west. I mentioned another batch of showers moving from sun city. Goodyear. And out to our west, there is more rain out. Also some storms. And that is tracking eastbound. And so it is going to move back chance will stick around here for the morning commute. Well keep that chance at 30 through about 7 00 a. M. After that, those storm trances chances gradually clear down. I am expecting a bit of clearing not those clouds. That is going to continue the potential. If those clouds manage to come around longer. Again, i am seeing signs of clearing by midday. That means by this afternoon, we would have to watch for storms across the higher terrain and the rain chances elevated for today. A high of 105, but temperatures a little lower than they have been the last few days. Storm chances stick around for the weekend. Well talk about that and the lower temperatures in just a few minutes. No big complaints on the roads as far as your freeway go. This is an 11minute drivetime from the 202 until you hit shay boulevard. We have this road closure. I told you about this crash earlier. Youre going to to legacy boulevard. You can use Thompson Peak or hayden instead to get around that southbound closure. The rest of the valley, your delays are staying steady on the 10. This is right at 19th avenue.
