Today garvin thomgs shows us what she did when flooding hit san jose. Reporter ever science coyote creek flooded almost six months ago, there has been a lot of blame for who hasnt been at fault. There hasnt been a lot of praise, but when it comes to deb cramer, its definitely deserved. The shown zone you will start in will need one bag. Reporter deb cramer believes in the power of the humble lift. Over the past years, organizing chienups for her nonprofits keep coyote creek beautiful. Deb has relied heavily on lists. What it is that needs to happen. Check lists to make sure she has the equipment she needs. I have a team of leaders. Email lists to make sure she has the volunteers to do the job. So we need you to get a vest. So deb knows the power of them to get her day job done, but had no idea what her lists could mean in a disaster. And not until, that is, until there was one. On february 21st, coyote creek overflowed its banks, flooding homes, neighborhoods and parks. The very next day, deb went down to the creek she knows so well to survey the damage. And was stunned by what she saw. Thats when it was like, okay, so i called the mayor office, and i said, hey, palm, im here. Let me know if you want any help. Reporter palm ferrara is with the city of san jose and had worked with deb in the past, so he knew she could help, but even he was surprised just how much. I mean, were beyond grateful. Its just, i dont think i can ever thank her enough. We dont sister to worry about that. You see, within a matter of days, deb provided a checklist of equipment she would need from the stid and she tapped her list of willing volunteers. Over the course of four days, you got about 1,200 volunteers, just to go into three neighborhoods. Reporter and over the next three days, another 800. Thats 2,000 volunteers in just seven days. They went into homes and down to the creek, going a long way to returning life to normal along its banks. There you go. You got a pair. Deb is quick to deflect any praise, saying she is simply a good organizers, others, though, are more generous, believing on the list of people the city has to thank, deb should be right near the top. Even though the worst of the flooding is long in the past, deb says the impacts of the creek are still lingering, she and her volunteers are out there cleaning to this very day. Incredible. We have much more ahead on today in the bay coming up, muni riders keeping a close eye on their surroundings, who police say is attacking passengers. Also, have you been stung . We have the reason the bay area has seen a 60 increase in wasps over the past year. Welcome back to you, its just shy of 7 30 on your saturday morning a live look outside as fog covers the Golden Gate Bridge. Nothing new, we see that a lot as the sun shines in san jose, it is one of those day, today the microclimates are in full effect. Thank you so much for joining us. We have a look at that microclimate forecast. I know who loves this weather, people who wake up bright and early. Get it done. Its the weather they had for the San Francisco marathon. So kind of like that, but its going to heat up, so go out now, because the current temps are pleasant along the coast, in the 50s, nice and cool at 59 degrees the south bay right now the water temps, 56, ocean beach 58, santa cruz 57 and i would say that tomorrows probably going to be a better beach day than today is, look at this Doppler Radar, showing that fog thats hugging the coastline. We will see this burn off. We have that High Pressure building over the bay area. That will warm us up nicely as we head into sunday and the start of the workweek, its kind of going to kickstart a bit of a warming trend in the bay area, San Francisco, right now, nice and foggy, of course, those temperatures will climb into the 60s by midafternoon and then in inland spots, we will be warmer out there, East San Jose, climb nook the upper 80s, by about 2 00, well be at 81 degrees so we will see a nice contrast between the coast and inland spots. Were talking about maybe ten, 15 degree difference. Some spots will see a 20 degrees difference for tomorrow. So i would say few want to be on the warmer side, go in the spots, if you want to be on the cooler side, have lunch in San Francisco, we will have a closer look for your forecast today, also few head into sunday coming up. Already always options. Exactly. Thanks. People who ride muni buses are being warned. In less than two weeks, there were two cases of passengers getting assaulted and robbed. And police say both incidents involve groups of young people attacking the passengers. We have more on the recent trend of violence. Reporter people who ride the bus in San Francisco are already on the lookout. Some say they wear ear buds but they arent on. Yeah, i cant we heard and i am aware of my surroundings. A pair of assaults and robberies are giving people reasons. One of the women punched her, someone stole her phone and the group took off. Yeah, thats kinds of surprising. Thats concerning. Reporter she didnt think she had to have her guard up around women. Im surprised four women against another woman. Reporter last week police say a group of ten young men attacked a muni rider at market and van ness, assaulting him, steaming his phone. Investigators are reviewing video from the buss if both cases hoping to identify suspects. Muni says it works closely with sfpd and crime is actually down system wide. Even though you hear about this case today, we are encouraged by what weve seen over the crime stats that have been coming in. And a lot of that trends is due to working with the police. Reporter workers say the violence is a disturbing reminder to be aware. Thats kind of shocking to me, also not surprising, as far as it is the city.
