Look at all of those filing up the escalator at the westfield mall in San Francisco. That is where we find today in the bays pete suratos to explain how an officer of injured and what may have triggered the whole thing. Pete . Reporter good morning to you, kris and sam. San Francisco Police are investigating what may have caused this massive brawl inside of the westfield mall last night. Well show you that video of what took place. See san Francisco Police running up the escalator trying to diffuse the fight. They say the brawl started inside the mall roughly around 7 00 p. M. When about two dozen people started fighting in the Food Court Area of the mall. Police say some folks tried to run away from the cops with reports of chairs even being thrown at the officers. It took about 30 cops to respond to the. One of those officers suffering minor injuries like you mentioned, but the officer appears to be okay. Several people were were detained as a result with one person being arrested. Due to this incident you are looking at, the mall had to close up early last night but its expected to open up during its regular Business Hours this morning. A man hospitalized after being shot in a porsche just off highway 101 in San Francisco. Police say shots were fired about 10 00 last night and it happened at the bottom of the say sar chavez off ramp. The driver of that porsche lost control of the car, crashed into a pole, and then into at least three other cars. The suspect was able to get away from the scene. The victim in the porsche was taken to the hospital with a gunshot wound to the chest. Police are not sure if the victim and the suspect knew each other. New video in this morning of the cleanup after this weekends activities in San Francisco. Here is what it looked like a few hours ago at civic center and city hall. Hundreds of thousands of people took to the streets over the weekend. This morning we hope to get a better number how many people turned out for this years festivities. Families, friends, and the community festooned in the colors of the rainbow celebrated the pride of San Franciscos Lgbtq Community though there were voices of resistance from the movement close behind as well. San francisco did go on with a traditional gay pride parade sunday. You might remember there wasnt a pride parade in l. A. This year because it was replaced by an antihate rally instead. Right now to washington, d. C. , this morning where President Trump and the Republican Party right now trying to get to work to pass the senates version of Health Care Reform this week. Democrats say the bill will not Fix Health Care problems but will only make matters worse. Today we expect the Congressional Budget Office to release its score on the cost of the senates version. This is big news. In the meantime republicans will have to walk a fine line to try to get the bill passed. If too many changes are made hard line conservatives might not support it. If there are not enough changes, republican senators against the bill might not come onboard. Senate Majority Leader Mitch Mcconnell says he wants a vote this week, but other senators, including members of his own party, say this process is moving too fast. I dont have the feed back from constituencies who will not have had enough time to review the senate bill. We should not be voting on this next week. President trump says he is fully behind the senates plan. Developing this morning today will be the Supreme Courts last Public Session before justices begin their summer break. Were looking live right now of the court this morning. Now several cases still are in the balance along with a possible decision on President Trumps travel ban. Justices are expected to decide on whether or not to immediately enforce a temporary 90day ban on visitors from six mostly muslim nations. That decision could come as early as 6 30 this morning and well bring it to you live as soon as it happens. There are also several other highprofile cases the court has not yet ruled on and its possible Anthony Kennedy today might announce his retirement, although that is pure speculation because kennedy has said nothing about that publicly. Right now an investigation into a major hack. Several ohio government websites were hacked with proisis messages sunday morning. This is what it looked like for at least seven government websites displayed messages supporting isis and criticizing president donald trump. Web addresses for state offics s of corrections, medicaid and casinos were among those hit by the hack. Also affected the websites for the Ohio Governor and first lady. State Officials Say that no personal information was compromised in the hack, but it did affect all of the servers and they had to be taken off line. Right now a live look from mt. The Transit Agency wants opinions as a plan is in the works that would increase fares cents. And by january of 2018 fares would increase by about 50 . That fire yesterday forced closures and evacuations in Santa Clarita about 30 miles north of los angeles. The flames burned through about 800 acres of land. Palo alto police are going to place fliers on the rvs to warp them about the impending changes. The damage left behind after a car slammed into a motel pool in southern california. Police may have found the remains of an uber driver who disappeared from San Francisco on mothers day. We first broke the news last night. Today in the bays bob redell with the emotional reaction from that missing mans wife. Bob, good morning. Reporter good morning to you, sam and kris. The family will be providing a dna sample to the medical examiner to confirm whether or not the body parts found this weekend here in hayward belong to piseth chhay seen here in a foe it toe held by his grieving right rattana. Chhay disappeared on saturday morning the sherr s office in Alameda County found body parts after employees complained of a foul smell. That is connect ed to bob tang,a longtime friend of chhay and according to Law Enforcement a person of interest in this case. Police say they found tangs car abandoned at sfo after he skipped out on an interview with them last month and believe he has fled to cambodia. The body parts are so mutilate ed and decomposed they can only be identified through dna. I just hope and pray its not my husband. Breaking news right now. The family of this man castile reached a nearly 3 million settlement with the city of st. Anthony, minnesota. A Police Officer shot and killed castile during a traffic stop. His girlfriend, you might remember, was streaming the aftermath on social media. Ten days ago a jury acquitted that officer of manslaughter. The incident and more recent acquittal sparked outrage in minnesota and around the nation. 6 33 right now and Contra Costa County residents are reportedly going to have a chance to be directly involved in the process of replacing their disgraced District Attorney. Former District Attorney Mark Peterson resigned after pleading no contest to felony perjury. A grand jury accused him of miscon. The east bay times reports before a permanent replacement can be hired there will be a public forum. That hearing is scheduled to take place in august. Authorities in San Francisco are locki looking for the person who set fire to a popular San Francisco playground. Firefighters responded after midnight yesterday to the play structure in golden gate park. The damage could go as high as 1 million. So far investigators say they dont have any suspects. In about ten hours opponents of a new proposed School District in the east bay will hold a rally. They are up locki inlooking at creating a new School District. The county board has until the end of august to approve the proposal. Some dramatic new video this morning, a swimmer being rescued by helicopter after he was stranded on a rock in the middle of the rapids. It happened on saturday near lake spalding. You see the man had there waving for help on that rock. A rescue technician is descending there into the steep canyon of the river while the chp flight officer maneuvering that basket carefully down to him he recalls the ter foterrif his rescue. The feeling that the current had on me was like the start of a roller coaster. Im 64. Ive never felt so small in my life. Amazingly he was not hurt. He says he is appreciative of the rescuers and all the work that they do. As we see all of the snow melting and flooding takinging place in california. Here is another example. About two dozen people started fighting just before 7 00 last night. As you can see it spread to other levels of the mall. About 30 Police Officers responding to the scene here running up the escalators trying to keep shoppers safe. One Police Officer was injured but is expected to be okay. Police say some of the people involved in the fight tried to run away which led to more issues. One video even shows a chair being thrown at a Police Officer. It did complicate matters and we had to try to stop the situation as soon as possible and thats why you see us moving to multiple levels in order to stop and detain these individuals that were involved in this incident. Several people were questioned in this melee. One person was arrested. Happening right now rescue crews are searching for a San Francisco father who vanished after saving his daughter from drowning in the delta. This happened sunday afternoon near brandon island state wopar. Witnesses say a man and his daughter were kayaking when the kayak flipped and they both went under water. The father did surface and a person on a nearby boat pulled her to safety. Then the father slipped back under water and there has been no sign of him since. Investigators say neither of them were wearing life jackets at the time. Whats that sound, you say . Some scary moments for passengers on a flight from australia yesterday who feared for their lives when their plane started shaking violently for about an hour. Air asia is calling it some kind of technical issue with an engine. The pilot turned the jet around over the indian ocean and returned to perth in western australia. They did land safely to applause from passengers. All new this morning, heads up for parents. Chicken nuggets designed for toddlers right now are being pulled from stores this morning. Californiabased company over hill farms incorporated recalling 54,000 pounds of frozen chicken byproducts after bones were found in the food. The u. S. Department of agricultures food safety and Inspection Service announced a recall of those products sold exclusively at target after customers complained about the problem. Happening today President Trump welcomes the indian Prime Minister to the white house in what could be a rather challenginging visit. The two have conflicting goals. The two are scheduled to meet and discuss Economic Growth and reform. Bernie sanders has reportedly hired Defense Attorneys in the wake of an fbi probe surrounding bank fraud allegations. According to politico, sanders has hired two attorneys, one for himself, one for his wife jane sanders. Assisting in the investigation centered around a loan secured by sanders wife that helped to cover the cost for an expansion at Burlington College in vermont when she was president of the school in 2010. Sanders is a vermont senator. He told the Washington Post that his wife is innocent. Nbc news is just reporting that the u. S. Just agreed to hear an appeal from a colorado bakery that refused to make wedding cakes for samesex couples. This issue has been brewing for years now, involved florists, bakers, photographers, other business who cited religious and free speech in refusing to serve gay customers in the wake of the samesex marriage decision. Those claims have not fared so well in court. Also just in, scotus refuses to review right to carry guns outside of folks homes with two dissenting justices who would hear that case. Well continue to follow that one for you as well. Again, eyes are on the Supreme Court this morning wondering if the Supreme Court might say anything about the trump travel ban. We thought there might be a ruling. Scott mcgrew, so far nothing. Its the last day of the courts term. We thought we might hear comments on the ban whether the court would take up the case, whether it would allow the white house to enforce its ban during the court case but so far nothing out of the Supreme Court. We would have expected word at 6 30 our time. Its worth remembering those travel bans were suppose d to b temporary. The white house said it needed to pause travel from certain countries to given the white house time to adjust the screening. Now those travel bans never took effect but they had those 120 days either way and theyve long since expired. All eyes on the Supreme Courts swing vote as well. Justice Anthony Kennedy as rumors swirl he may retire soon that would allow President Trump to appoint another judge. Hes from sacramento. The president issued a whirlwind of angry tweets reacting to the Washington Post story that the cia had proof that vladimir p h putin himself ordered russian spy agencies to attack the american election. The driver was in a porsche, lost control of the car after the shooting, crashed into a power pole and at least three other cars as well. The suspect, meantime, drove away from the scene.
