Get the kids ready with mostly clear skies and milder temperatures. This will be the last dry day they will have this week at recess. A mix of sun and clouds and mix of warmer temperatures. At 1 00, getting ready to head home, it will be partly cloudy and warm. We will talk about the timeline of this approaching storm system at 6 07. Now as we head over to mike, a crash over the bay bridge. One off the bay bridge on the shoulder from what i understand. It is is eastbound near the toll plaza. What i will report first is that westbound 880 is your connection. We see slowing already developing. Thats where the commute builds up. Travel time builds up a few minutes because of the slowing on the approach. It should be yellow. My computer will update. A live look at the incline itself. From the backup at the toll plaza, past Treasure Island. We now have lighting at Treasure Island. We had issues there. Mike, all of these folks back up here at the toll plaza will not see the lights out. They are headed from oakland to the San Francisco side. From our traffic camera, as you can see, some of the lights are still out. This is the these are the lights that are out lower deck heading east from San Francisco to Treasure Island. The last 30 minutes, it seems some of the lights came back on Treasure Island in the tunnel and in the eastern tower as well. Caltrans knows about this problem. It could be a similar fix. They just dont know at this point. It happened january of last year. Heres how it looked from a drivers perspective. It was a little eeri coming over the bay bridge this morning. The lights were out over the western span and the tunnel he was on the bridge around 3 30 this morning. Now this has been going on at least two and a half hours. The lights are not out for the whole span. Sunrise is coming up in 50 minutes or so as you head out this morning, you might miss entire spectacle. Caltrans and the california Highway Patrol are aware of this problem. They are trying to make sure no one gets stuck in a crash because of the problem. We will have to see when the lights come on and whether that will happen before sunup at 6 al. Thank you very much, kris. A live look at the oroville dam. Federal emergency officials issued a disaster declaration to he repair the two damaged spillways. Evacuation orders have been lifted. Officials are warning people they may have to evacuate again if the repairs you see them actively working on here, if they dont work. Heres where the situation stands as this hour. More than 100 construction crews working around the clock dropping 1,200 tons of rocks on the emergency spillway every hour. They are also using drones to monitor the situation. The reservoirs water level is dropping and they hope to continue to use the damaged main spillway to drain the lake ahead of the rain expected tomorrow. New details on a homicide investigati investigation. The man suspected of killing another man in a parking garage had a prior record and he was wanted on a parole violation at the time. It happened blocks away from the great mall in lupitis. Arrested after a chase. He is set to appear in Court Tomorrow afternoon. A suspected bank robber led police on a wild manhunt a few weeks ago is expected to face a judge. Cruz vargas is accused offing a bank in scotts valley, and leading police on a chase on highway 17 where he ditched his car. He ran into the woods. Despite an intense manhunt, he somehow managed to escape. Deputies caught him the next day in san jose. New details have been leased about the oakland warehouse fire. Oak land released 600 cases city records related to the warehouse. Now we are learning from reports the link between the ghost ship landlord to Police Activity at that warehouse. Documents show in september 2014 he reported a fire in front of the property. Three month later a Police Report shows he and a tenant got into a fight over rent. Both men were arrested. Finally in march of 2015, Police Responded to a music party. The report says it didnt have proper permits to host parties. It is 6 06 now as you head out the door. Mostly clear skies. A trial date has been set for six of the seven people. 30yearold pierce was killed in a shoot anything west oakland in march of 2015. The mother of three had just picked up two of her sons from the Charter School in the area and was hit by gunfire as she tried to protect her children. Police say the shootout stepped from an argument between two groups of people. Six of the suspects are set to stand trial on emergency charges april 3rd. Happening later today, a ruling is expected to a defense motion in the case of a Minnesota Police officer charged in the death of philando cast e castile. They asked the judge to dismiss the manslaughter case against their client. He was shot by the officer during a traffic stop last july. This is the video that his girlfriend live streamed the aftermath of that situation on social media. Of course it gained national attention. South county courthouse in morgan hill is reopening after a suspicious package was delivered yesterday. It was a small white box which say is had an odd shape to it. One year ago the city of walnut creek expected joanne hernandezs newly installed home depot windows. The city said three did not meet egress requirements for the fire code. Meaning she might have trouble getting out in an emergency. So joanne called home depot to tell them the windows failed. She had the company sent out a manager twice to look at the problem but nothing was ever done to correct it, to fix it. After several months, she reached out to us for our help. We contacted home depot, and it went to work immediately ordering new windows that would pass egress and arranging for installation as soon as possible. In a statement home depot told us, ms. Hernandezs windows passed permitting, so we were surprised that they didnt pass inspection. Regardless, we apologize for the delay in replacing them and appreciate the chance to make this right. Crews are spending a massive amount of water in an urgent attempt to reduce lake water level. This winter storm, the rain so badly here in walnut creek that the road surfaces on southbound 680 and highway 24 are breaking apart. As you mentioned, since december, chp has received complaints from 55 drivers of damage to their windshields. Namely from pieces of road popping up and hitting the vehicles. Fivemile section of southbound 680 and one mile section of highway 24. Local Caltrans Office submitted an emergency request to headquarters for repairs. Until then, caltrans maintenance workers are having to sweep the troubled spots more off leaving some drivers frustrated. You either fix it and the happens again or leave it and it starts cracking even more. Caltrans should have a better idea in the next day or two as to when all lanes might reowe. Repair crews are building a reinforced trench for the safety of drivers intended to catch debris loosened by recent storms and prevent it from getting into lanes. People who mute to the valley are anxious for 17 to return to four lanes. Crews say dont expect it too soon. Were not working 24 7. There are some safety reasons why we dont work overnight. And of course we will have to is suspend the work. Those safety concerns were heightened by the death of a worker hit by a construction truck last week. 6 37. Happening today, an accused serial purse snatcher is expected back in court. Terrell anthony nor national targeted at least 14 women in what was a string of violent purse snatchings. He targeted at least 14 women between october and december of last year. Investigators say the robbers targeted older asian women. In some cases they were followed home and then attacked. Police arrested norman back in january. He so far has not entered a plea. A teen was beaten with his own skateboard. It happened near the Eastern Entrance to golden gate park. Investigators say the teenager got into a fight with two other men. Thats one one of the suspects took the skateboard and hit him on the head. Police say burglars targeted four homes over a one mile radius during a sevenhour window on monday. Right now no information what the burglars even look like. Police say they were e in a car on the citys west side yesterday when someone opened fire at them. A 2yearold boy and a man who is a known gang member died at the scene. Authorities say this marks the third time in the last week that a child has been shot in chicago. So far this year, 50 people have been killed from gun violence. 700 died last year. A woman arrested for vandalizing the davis center. She is charged with breaking windows and a beacon at the mosque last month. Surveillance video led to her capture. She has also been charged with a hate crime. Lead investigators could take the stand today. And a proposed bridge toll increase for contra costa.
