Hopefully nobody is hurt. We are already seeing the backup near that road. Make sure to take extra time. Earlier there was a 10minute delay on bart. Right now there is no delay. That delay has been cleared. S as far as the rest of the day, the rain could change the map drastically. Ill toss things to you. From all that rain gear to major snow in the sierra. The victim worked nearby but was not affiliated with the college. Investigators are still trying to figure on out if she was struck while still in the crosswalk. It took hours to basically dig out the freeway. I was up here yesterday morning. It was akin to going down a ski mound. The berms were coming out into the roadway. Caltrans had to shut it down, dig it out and get it reopened 1 45 this morning. Ski resorts are reporting six feet of snow from this recent round of storms. Looks like from some of the webcam r webcameras, picking up a couple feet. Sugar mound too has to dig out. If youre coming into the sierra, yes, we will have a little break in the valley. Usually they linger in the mountains. Be prepared coming up here. And with another major storm coming this weekend, be ready for it. It looks like it is kleining up to be a very wet, snowy and rainy system. All of the above. That leads to the a number of problems in the sierra. A drive got pulled over for doing 65 where the speed limit is 30. We talked to a driver who spent 200 on chains that he purchased in the sierra that he probably could have bought at a box store for 25 in the valley. The Atmospheric River has shifted a little bit farther south, giving us a chance to prepare for the next storm system moving in, which is set to arrive early saturday morning. Once again, the rain gets heavier with the target over the Santa Cruz Mountains. Thats where we see the heaviest rain. It will head over the south bay as a shift of the moisture moves over the south bay. Another storm system expected between tuesday and wednesday of next week. With this one moving in over the weekend, we have the potential of getting three to six and a half inches of rain for some of our hilltops. Also heavy amounts of snow. There will be quite a bit of rain mixing in with the snow. That could raise the concern of flooding. We warm up this weekend with the storm system moving in. Dry weather today and tomorrow. The only two dry days in the sevenday forecast. Well, it looks like there are a lot more cars hitting the roads. Everyone seems to be paying attention to the roads because we are not seeing any major accidents thankfully. A quick check of your drive times. Northbound 101, highway 87, 18 minutes. The fire started at the apartment complex on lanakai drive. Three units were damaged. The person who first reported the fire believe it started in the fitch of one of those units. Chicago authorities weighing possible hate crime charges in connection with this disturbing video. Police say it shows four people going and beating an 18yearold mentally disabled man.
