We did see that storm system that came in yesterday, all throughout the day we saw foggy Road Conditions and right now, its looking like those scattered showers are sitting off to the coast. We may see the possibility of a few of those moving in throughout the Early Morning hours but pushing forward ahead to about 10 30, were going to see those clearer skies and were going to see for the most part nice dry conditions through your saturday evening. Look at this, by about 12 30, we dry out completely and that is snow in the mountains. Were talking sierra snow and if youre not up there, you have plans to head up to the snowy areas, you may want to take some extra time and be extra careful on the roads because Christmas Day, also expecting to see more snow and expecting to see another round of nice clear sunny conditions. Now, we were tracking the possibility of seeing a few scattered showers into late Christmas Eve but it looks like storm is going to miss us, those residual areas of moisture left over actually purked to the side so those chances have increased even less. He traditionally grants leniencies around major christian holidays. Most of these pardons are given to people convicted over a decade ago for nonviolent crimes. President elect donald trump took his threat to expand the countrys Nuclear Arsenal to a new level. In a statement to msnbc, mr. Now, todays highs are going to remain into those 40s for the most part, were talking a high of about 49 degrees in San Francisco. 47 for santa rosa. Down to los gatos and san jose, the microclimates are looking very similar because we arent tracking any major rainfall for today. Future cast, youre seeing a combination of green and white on this map. The green that you see right here is that residual, leftover moisture that could be bringing the possibility of a very few light scattered showers to areas like the Santa Cruz Mountains and also the north bay. And of course over to my left, you see snow in the forecast and thats because we are expecting anywhere between 2 to 4 feet of know in the sierra mountains. Pushing ahead to about 1 00, all of that rain disappears and we start seeing nice Clear Conditions also out on the roads as you head into sunday, if youre making an Early Morning sunday drive, youre going to see nice Clear Conditions as well. We might see a little bit more fog, cloud cover early in the day but by about 9 30, we were seeing a possibility ofi seein some rain. Were seeing the chance for some maybe late night showers. Today in the bay visits angel island and how an old building is getting a second life to help tell that story. Reporte at angel island, people say the walls speak. Reporter though its surrounded by millions of people, angel island is one of the San Francisco bays most tranquil places. But the peaceful scenery belies its role in early 1900s history when the island served as a purgatory for 1 million immigrants. Youd come over on these hopes and dreams and get here and the immigration station is your first experience. Reporter old restored barracks tell the stories of immigrants from some 80 countries, including japan, china, and germany, who were detained in the islands immigration station between 1910 and 1940. Whereas ellis island was built largely to welcome immigrants to america, angel island was built as a place to exclude people. Reporter among the 120 decaying buildings left on the island, its original hospital was nearly a ghost. There was so much water leaking in through the back of the building, it was pretty much like a river running through the building. Didnt have much time left on it before we were able to intervene. Reporter but like the dreams of those who ended up on the island, the building is getting a new life. This is very exciting for us. Reporter catherine of the angel island immigration Station Foundation never been open to the public. Reporter is working with state parks in an effort to restore the hospital as a living museum. This is where they actually did surgery. This was the womens ward. We hope that it will look much the same as it did when the hospital opened. Reporter the buildings windows boast very unhospitallike views. Oh, yeah. Reporter making the perfect setting for a reflection room. Just kind of sit and reflect. Historically, this was the kitchen area of the hospital. Reporter the work will also restore some of the buildings less celebrated features. There were two entrances in the hospital, one for sagss and one for nonasians and weve restored it to the two entrances as it was originally built. Reporter there are a few modern updates. Its amazing to see the restoration. There were people who died in the hospitals. There were people who were born in the hospital. Reporter but the stories told by the restored building will go beyond the sick and the infirmed. The hospitals really going to give us a chance to really explore bigger themes of immigration to the u. S. And ourselves as an immigrant nation and that tension continues today.
