Were expecting nice sunshine to peek through, current temperatures in San Francisco looking at about 47 degreess n the 60s. Were actually expecting to top out into the upper 50s. So if you are going to be out there, i want to say today is still going to be one of those days where you want to bring on fall jackets and sweaters. Oakland a nice sunrise, 46 degrees and your overall highs today along the coast and peninsula are going to remain in the 50s, even out near the north bay. Also expecting to see the lower 60s. So we did climb into the 60s yesterday which we topped out in the 50s so today should be a nice little change in the pattern. As far as rain, were expecting a dry weekend ahead, but he are tlak tracking the possibility of a few showers into the workweek ahead. Well check back with you in a few minutes. Were going to begin this morning with breaking news. An unknown number of people are dead and several others are now in the hospital after a fire erupted at a dance party in the east bay. Now, about 75 to 100 people were inside. Fire officials tell us there are casualties but just how many they just arent sure. At this hour, crews are searching for the missing. The fire started around 11 30 last night at the 1300 block of 31st avenue in oakland, just north of the 880 near the fruitvale b. A. R. T. Station. The party was advertised as a rave. According to property records the building is zoned as a warehou warehouse. The Oakland Fire Department tells us crews are still working to get a full picture of what happened. The fire that burned for four hours. Obviously, it did burn through the roof so its very dangerous in there right now for our crews to go back in. But once we determine its safe, we will go back into the building. Now, an artist collective taking place at the building next door also burned down. Before he escaped, Laron Campbell had several felony cases pending including kidnapping Armed Robbery and carjacking. Both he and chavez face 30 to 40 years in prison. They branded her. Keith papini tells 20 20 says he remembers rushing to meet his wife sherri at the hospital after she was found beaten and shackled more than 100 miles from their home. I just ran past everybody ayinde throw open the curtain and she was there. And her poor face. I just hugged her. I just held her. Sherri papini was miss forge three weeks. Keith said the search felt endless. At one point she feared she was dead. We were heading back after we did a few mile search and we look up and we start to see some birds circling. And i started walking and i just went to my knees. But sherri was found early thanksgiving morning, keith says shes talked briefly of the alleged abductors. She literally lived through hell. What exactly happened remains a mystery. For now, keith is just happy to have sherri home. Had such great support from my family, my friends, the whole community, the whole world reached out. A 50mile stretch of california coast has been cleared for commercial crabbing starting today. California department of fish and wildlife says the area between point ray as and salt point is now safe to catch crabs. The area has been off limits after high levels of acid was found in the crab area last year. Now, fishing grounds north of salt point through the north jetty of humboldt bay will remain closed. Those high acid levels almost wiped out last years crab season. Caltrain is taking the holiday spirit for a joyride. It has a train all decked out and ready to roll. The festive caltrain holiday train was unveiled yesterday at the king street station in San Francisco complete with snow, of course. It will be rolling down the peninsula this weekend, stopping at several stations. And its all for a good cause. And being summoned to a student conduct hearing. According to the notice to appear, the instructor accused him of disrupting class by shouting out a political comment and then confronted her in an aggressive manner. The dean sent mesa a letter noting that his plans to pursue a career in Law Enforcement could be impacted if he didnt agree to drop the class and either withdraw or accept an f. So, to me, thats a threatening ultimatum. Reporter mesa denies doing anything wrong but says he felt like he had to agree to the terms of the deal because hes set to start at a police academy. The college would not comment citing privacy issues. I think this is discrimination at its finest. After the election, fears of racism and mass deportations have increased. Yesterday San Jose City leaders tried to calm those worries. The chief of police made it clear that officers do not and will not ask victims or witnesses about their immigration status. And leaders answered questions about the rights of both document and undocumented immigrants. The event was held at the Mexican Consulate in san jose, but it isnt just mexican immigrants who are worried. Some people in the muslim and Iranian Community have come to meet with me, and they asked me about the city creating a list for deportation. It doesnt exist. It does not exist and it will not exist. City leaders hope immigrants get the message that san jose is not in the business of enforcing immigration laws. Many other people in the bay area are still feeling the bern postelection. Senator Bernie Sanders spoke to a soldout crowd yesterday afternoon at uc berkeley promoting his new book. Students and everyone concerned with the outcome of the election urging them to stay involved. Despair is not an option. It is not an option. Memorials will take place tomorrow for 28yearold William Simms who police say was gunned down outside a bar three weeks ago. Police believe he was killed similarably because he was black. Today a public gathering will begin at 1 00 outside the bar. At the same time, the family will hold a private service in an east bay church. Simms was a promising Young Musician. Last night his family was holding out that two suspects will be caught soon. I hope theyre caught and theyre convicted and theyre brought to justice. A lot of victims want to know when the suspect will be out in the community they want realtime Information Available to them and want to know where the offender is going to be on parole or probation and want to make contact with the supervisor of the offender just for peace of mind. Along the coast, we should be topping out at about 59 degrees in half moon bay, San Francisco also in the upper 50s, and as we head down to the south bay, los gatos, san jose in the lower 60s for your weekend ahead. Now, we are seeing a cold front that did move in, but its a very dry cold front which means not enough to produce any rainfall as that High Pressure continues to dominate. Thats whats going to make way for a very nice, dry weather pattern. Futurecast right now looking way ahead, the models arent showing a lot of activity over the next couple days so this nice sunshine should remain in the forecast through the start of your workweek ahead. We have more details now on that breaking news. At least nine people are dead and 25 more are still unaccounted for this morning after a fire erupted at a dance Party Last Night in the east bay. Oaklands fire chief says this the worst fire in the city since the Oakland Hills blaze 25 years ago. Now, about 75 to 100 people were inside that dance party. Several of those people are now in the hospital. At this hour, crews are still searching for the missing. The fire started around 11 30 last night at the 1300 block of 31st avenue in oakland. Thats just north of the 880 near the fruitvale b. A. R. T. Station. Now, party was advertised as as rave. According to property records, the building is zoned as a warehouse. The Oakland Fire Department tells us crews are still working to get a full picture of what happened. Right now theres limited access to the structure, but its too unsafe and not only that, theres a lot of heavy wood from when the roof came in thats going to have to be removed. Its going to take a while for us to finish up the search. Work space for artists next door also burned down. We want to show you a live look now at the aftermath of that fire.
