Weve steaked out the entrance to the Santa Clara County main jail hoping to get Laron Campbell back to where this jailbreak started, a week ago today. We also expect to hear from the Santa Clara CountySheriffs Department hoping to reveal details about how agents tracked campbell to antioch where he was arrested without incident last night. He was cussed at 9 00 last night. Neighbors were watch iing. Its kind of scary because you dont expect that stuff to happen when youre sitting outside and you see a bunch of cop cars and officers in full gear. Its a little nerveracking. Reporter we were first on the air to report the jailbreak thanksgiving Morning Hours after campbell, Rogelio Chavez and two other inmates cut through the steel bars and repelled down on clothing and bed sheets. Two were apprehended immediately and back in the cell that day. Chavez and campbell took off. Acting on a tip yesterday afternoon, Santa Clara County deputies swarmed a gas station at 7th and kooes. On monday deputies ascended on a gilroy hotel where they arrested 35yearold emily vaca of san jose who admitted to helping chavez while he was on the run. Chavez is still at large this morning, but with 20,000 in reward money for information leading to an arrest, the public is definitely watching, and accordings to the Santa Clara CountySheriffs Department, theyre also talking, getting a lot of tips on possible sightings. We hope to hear the latest on the manhunt for him and get the details of Laron Campbells arrest later this morning, going to the Sheriffs Department later this morning. This is new video just in to our newsroom this morning. Today in the bays bob redell is in redwood city where that chase ended. Bob, we understand two people were arrest ed. Reporter correct. Chp arrested the driver of that speeding car and his passenger after both men tried to hide in this caltrans Equipment Yard off 280 at the farm hill boulevard exit. Chp tells us around 2 20 this morning, one of the officers pulled over the driver of a black acura because he had been speeding and the registration on the car was expired. As the officer approached the vehicle, the driver sped off southbound on highway 280 with chp in pursuit. At one point speeds reached 110 miles an hour. A few minutes later the driver exited off 280 in farm hill, got off the interstate and had engine trouble. The car became disabled. Both men ran across the freeway to the caltrans yard. Both men were arrested with no one getting hurt. Chp is looking into whether that passenger is a wanted parolee. Live on the peninsula, bob redell, today in the bay. Bob, thank you very much. Coming up on 6 05. Also new this morning, emergency crews on the peninsula responded to an accident early this morning that appears to involve a car and a pedestrian. For a while this shut down traffic at El Camino Real in san bruno near the Golden Gate National cemetery. Witnesses say there were clear signs that a pedestrian had been struck. No real indication the driver had stayed at the scene. So far San Bruno Police have not issued any kind of statement. Theres some kind of Police Activity this morning happening in antioch. This is video just in from the scene. Officers at a home on winding way, not far from hillcrest avenue. Witnesses at the scene reported seeing crime tape. Right now deputies are offering no details. Well update you as soon as we get more information. Prayers continuing right now for a local Police Officer injured on the job. Now the man accused of critically injuring that Police Officer with a skateboard last week during a chase is expected to enter a plea in court. Here is the good news, South San Francisco officer robby chon who suffered major head injuries after being hit with the skateboard on thanksgiving day, doctors say hes showing signs of recovery. He was responding to reports of a man acting irate. Investigators say the suspect struck chon with a skateboard during that commute. The husband of a woman kidnapped said hes disgusted with people questioning whether her disappearance was real or not. Gadi schwartz has more on what happened. Reporter we are here in redding, california, where were taking a look at the kidnapping of sherri papini. Well talk to investigators released yesterday by her husband in which he described the injuries his wife discovered. He described seeing her in the hospital bed after she had been branded, she had been starved and tortured. Were also going to talk to it vaers about several clues including one clue in particular that they say they just cant figure out. Investigators are now speaking to different investigators in other states about other possible cases that have similarities to this kidnapping. Department of labor, Occupational Safety and health administration, commonly referred to as osha. It looks like the company has been cited for four violations in the past four years nationwide. With none of those violations were in california. In 2013 a performer fell nearly 1 o 00 feet 100 feet after her wire shredded. Theyre not ideaing this employee. Quite a square yesterday for people going to the movies doing shopping. Police evacuated the popular metreon after a man pulled out a gun in the theater. Police swarmed the venue at fourth and mission a little before 8 00 at night. The chronicle is reporting a witness said the suspect was yelling and behaving erratically as the previews were wrapping up before a showing of allied. Another witness says after the suspect pulled the gun, the man stayed seated as other people were running out of the theater. One patron who had been hoping to see the late show instead felt lucky he wasnt inside when all this went down. Scary. Glad i wasnt there. With everything thats going on now in the world or in the united states, its a terrible thing. Police arrived on scene and quickly detained that man. The theater was closed for the rest of the night. Shes facing a challenge from ohio representative tim ryan who comes from an area with working class people, more similar to many of the people who voted for donald trump in this last election as democrats try to reposition themselves for two years from now for the midterm elections. Mick no mistake thats what this is all about and whether or not the democrats feel they need new leadership to make gains in the house. Pelosi promised about expected about 25 more democrats. So far theyve picked up about six seats. Still some districts, believe it or not, that are still counting. Its not where they wanted to be. The central question seems to be can a big city liberal democrat appeal to many of those rural working class voters who were such a force in this last election, or are they more attracted to someone like tim ryan. One important thing here, nancy pelosi raises a lot of money for democrats, 141 million in this last election cycle. She goes away, some of that faund raising could go away as well. The voting is under way right now for that and several other leadership positions. Happening today in the bay area, a protest is planned against Stephen Bannon and his role in the donald trump presidency. Trump appointed bannon as senior counsel earlier this month. A group of jewish activists will protest. Bannon was a Founding Member of the controversial Breitbart News organization. The protest starts at 4 30 this afternoon on california stleet in San Francisco. If tragedy hadnt struck, today would have been the championship match. Instead, no match and no soccer team. Right now investigators are taking a close look at the black boxes recovered from the deadly plane crash carrying a brazilian cocker team. It went down in colombia late monday night right before it was supposed to land. The few players who were not on the flight, in shock as are so many soccer fans around the world. Only six of the 77 people on board that plane survived the crash. Vigils and moments of silence were held last night. A Flight Attendant told rescuers that the plane ran out of fuel. Chp says that chase started during a traffic stop, went seven miles before the car pulled over. Chp says the suspects then ran across the freeway lanes into a nearby caltrans yard.
