Theyre having so much trouble battling this fire. The hot, dry conditions as well have been tough for firefighters. There are more than 200 firefighters on the linetion this morning. I know some of them personally that were called from their homes last night to head to this fire. It is burning massively in that area. Well check in with meteorologist rob mayeda this morning as well. Well corporate this conversation right now. Talking about what is essentially a perfect formula for a very dangerous situation. Temperatures in the 9s, all the dry brush, the wind will be a real issue. The fire started at the peak heating of the day. We saw the dry conditions. Unfortunately the same thing well repeat. Right now not too bad, temperatures in the 60s. You see the areas of red showing up, that means mid 90s around the loma fire today. Another thing to watch, the humidity levels at times in the teens. Now, in terms of the smoke, this morning its being pushed to the south. Well see a little bit of a wind shift today out of the northwest that could pour more smoke into morgan hill. One of the reasons we have a sparetheair day. Again, this is not helping, mid to upper 90s, a late day sea breeze, cooling tomorrow. But dry and very holt around the bay area. The trend today from 4 00 to tomorrow, were beginning to see cooling over the next 24 hours. Look at the humidity levels this afternoon, expected to be in the teens in the hilltops. Thats not going to help firefighters. Wind speeds will pick up a little bit out of the northwest. Thats part of the onshore push of air which will eventually bring some cooling to the bay area. You can see today a spread of temperatures, upper 90s inland, but watching the low clouds reform on the coast and during the day tomorrow, big drop in temperatures, inland spots, upper 80s. By the time we get to thursday now, look at the numbers, 70s to low 80s inland, and the marine air making a bigtime come back. Todays highs, mid to upper 90s, well above average along the south bay. 70s to near 80s. Thats where the cooling will be.
