Overnight, chp looked more like the california herding patrol that had to deal with this very unique situation here on the okayed side of the tunnel as these goats made it on to both the eastbound and westbound direction of highway 24. This happening around 124506789 morning. There were about 50 goats in all, forcing officers to shut down four lanes of traffic for about 25 minutes. Its according to chp laws that we understand one driver accidentally hit several of the creatures hard enough to cause front end damage to their vehicle, but remarkably without killing the goats. In other words, its our understanding all the goats survived. The officers herd them up the lane on the north side of westbound 24, herded them to a locked caltrans parking lot to regroup them with their owner and the other 100 or so goats, its not clear how they got out, if there was a break in the fence or the gate was opened. Clearly the officers did remarkably herding skills as they were able to get those goats to safety. You can see the goeats on the westbound side of highway 24 in oakland. The call came in after 2 00 in the 1,000 block of lake haven in sunnyvale. We are off the lawrence highway and 101. Embers were lighting up the sky. Crews were able put out the flames, preventing any further damage. Those crews say the potential was there for the fire to spread. Several homes on the other side of the wall at the gas station were spared, thanks to the quick work of the department of public safety. Investigators are trying to determine how this fire started. The owners son is owner of this car behind me. He rented out the uhauls here at this gas station. Whats inside that uhaul . Fortunately, it was empty. Because it had not been rented out. Firefighters trying to put out those flames. Its not really clear how it started. Just yesterday, tlams stride two cars near international boulevard and 64th. This is two miles away from this mornings fire. Investigators reported a short time ago. They say its too early to know if the cases are linked. Staying in oak. Police say a woman was shot and killed on a already ameda avenue near the fruit bar station a. Witness drove the victim to hospital, where she later died. Right now an investigation is under way.
