Someone discovered the racial slurs directed at hispanics and africanamericans. Yesterday morning it was marked on an amp theater park and this is near the taught town playground. City workers quickly painted over the graffiti before families arrived to celebrate Easter Sunday in the park. The graffiti itself we believe was done by a hayward gang and the investigators are looking into the possibility of who the suspect in this case could be right now. We do not believe this is the a white supremest gang. Police say that gang crimes in san leandro have been minimal. They believe the gang may have been trying to mark territory. They see no connection, to answer your question, sam, to erase this graffiti that appeared on a School District office recently where a man was arrested and charged. Opening statements expected to start in the trial of darnell williams. Williams allegedly shot and killed her while she was at a sleepover in east oakland. This happened back in july of 2013. And closing arguments are expected to happen as soon as today in the case of a former stanford swimmer accused of Sexual Assault. Turner is accused of asoughting a woman last year outside of a Fraternity House where a party was going on. During the trial, the victim testified that she blacked out from drinking that night and had no memory of the incident. A report due out this morning might clear up some of the issues behind a Cal State University teacher strike. Now to a developing story. A manhunt under way on the peninsula for a driver involved in a deadly hit and run crash. That happened just before 7 00 last in lahonda. Thats where a pickup truck traveling westbound crossed over the eastbound lane and struck a car. That truck flipped and officers say the driver of that truck ran into nearby woods. The cars driver died at the scene. And another headon collision with deadly results. This one in San Franciscos Mission District just after 5 00 yesterday. Police believe the 64yearold driver had some sort of medical emergency when he or she drove into oncoming traffic at 18th and guerrero street. Investigators are now trying to determine whether that driver died because of the crash or because of that medical emergency. The driver of the second car, though, was not seriously hurt. Take a look at this house fire santa rosa. Witnesses reported that explosions happened before the fire started yesterday. It nearly destroyed a four plex in the citys southwest neighborhood. It also prompted a massive response that included highway patrol, police, fire, even the Sonoma County arson task force. Units were told that there was someone trapped within the building. We went in to rescue and found there was no one within the building and then we started going into fire attack within the abui the building. You see that man there with his dog. Two people did suffer smoke inhalation and all ten of those living in the four units now have to find a new place to live. It was a car jacking suspect and she recklessly sped through off ramps and residential streets and as you can see there, against traffic. Officers finally brought that traffic to a stop after this pit maneuver but the woman did not give up at that. You see the car being turned around there and you see her trying to carjack a Police Cruiser after that. The police did manage to arrest her after that prolonged chase and luckily nobody was hurt after she drove against traffic on the highway. But to then try to steal the cruiser. That is gutsy. No question. The 17yearold boy right now recovering this morning. He was nearly being killed when concrete slabs fell on top of him in a construction accident. The construction accident happened in oakland yesterday. Shoring up a foundation around a home east of lake merit. The victim was working in a trench when the concrete came down crashing. Our crews found that we had a man about approximately six feet down. Had slabs of concrete that had fallen from the foundation pinning him against the wall. It took firefighters about an hour to shore up that trench, get the concrete off the victim and pull out. Despite the serious injuries he suffered, he is expected to survive. At 5 46. Well, the faa just released a new report showing how often drones and airplanes come too close in bay area skies. Scott mcgrew has been looking this over and, what did you find out . Good morning, sam. If you take a long, sober look at this list, not that worrisome. Drones get too close to aircraft and we could see a serious incident in the future. What were seeing in the latest faa data Close Encounters in san jose and oakland, several in livermore and then a couple in modesto are just simply pilots reporting that they saw a drone but little more. Lets talk about oakland. In oakland a private pilot flying near Oakland Coliseum saw a drone at 1,300 feet but the pilot mentioned it to air Traffic Control and then no action taken. In san jose, a fedex pilot saw a drone as he was on final approach to sjc. He landed, as normal, and Law Enforcement was not notified. Pilots routinely report things they see in the sky. A pilot, for instance, might mention a flock of geese so air Traffic Control can tell the planes behind him. Now, in livermore pilots report a bright pink drone and its been more than once. If that is yours, they aring for you. Wall street back to work after a threeday weekend. Stock markets closed for the good friday holiday. Many european markets closed today for the monday after easter. Founders fund Just Announced a new Venture Capital fund with 1. 3 billion in new cash. The deal there was one of the founders of pay pal. So, rich guy has a lot more money to play with. Why do we care . Because he then invests that money in new start ups. We have been worried about Venture Capital, lately. Would it be as loose with the Purse Strings as it has in the past. That is what is fueling all this growth in San Francisco after all. They profit. In between a couple areas of low pressure and snow to the east of us and some rain farther to the north. Now, we still have this dry air here, but there will be some changes as we go into the next 24 hours. Looking at these temperatures now. Its 49 degrees in San Francisco and 45 in the north bay and the south bay 47 degrees and the sevenday forecast coming up at the bottom of the screen. Well see a couple cool days and then it warms up. Now, its 45 degrees in silver creek valley. Willow glen is at 48 degrees and 49 degrees now in santa clara. Not too bad, but not short sleeve weather either. As we go am to the day in San Francisco, we will see 50s to start out and a lot of sunshine, again. As we go into this afternoon, briefly hitting 60 degrees with some sunshine, but it will be windy, too. Weve also been tracking the possibility of some spotty showers mainly over the hills in the east bay. There will be some showers and thunderstorms firing up over the Central Valley. That may spin off just enough energy to give us a couple of quickmoving showers in our area, but not expecting a lot of rain. It will be windy, too. We will have those wind rushing in from the northwest. Sustained at 25 to 30 miles an hour. Also staying up right along the coast. Half moon bay those wind speeds 30, as well. The warm days we had over the weekend coming to an end just briefly. High pressure that is nudging in and well continue to kind of retrograde further off to the west. We will have windy and cooler conditions possible as we go into today and, once again, that slight chance of those showers. Over the next three days, well have highs reaching into the low 60s into the upper 60s by the middle of the week and we will see more of the dry weather, but in the sierra, we will have some snow developing there with that area of low pressure that continues to spin just to the east of us. And it will bring the potential of anywhere from 3 to 11 inches of snow over some of those higher elevations. Ill have another look at the forecast coming up and lets see whats happening in the south bay now with anthony. I want to start you off in the trivalley right now. We do have that earlier accident i was telling you on 680 southbound with that car fire. That cleared but the backup is starting to affect 580 in dublin. Thats where you can see this here. Traffic moving from this shot and every now and again it gets a little slower. 580 moving slower than usual because of that accident on 680 at vargas and were seeing that residual effect down through the sunol grade. Lots ofs still trying to make their way through that earlier accident. 101 right at alan rock and right at that busy thorough fare.
