Back to you. Thank you. New this morning a life or death water rescue unfolding in antioch with a nearby Security Guard jumping into action and now being credited with saving a womans life. Stephanie chuang is live at the antioch marina and, steph, do you know what led up to that rescue . We are in luck we have the man who made the rescue himself and a Security Guard. David, you were talking to us about how this all started. You saw her drive into the lot at 10 30. Thats correct. What was happening . She came in and she was driving recklessly and made a full turn around the parking lot and all of a sudden i see her coming about 45 and lunging herself with the car inside the marina here. When i saw that i rushed over here to rescue. I saw that the car was still floating and luckily i was able to put the window down and retrieve her from there. Can you describe what she was like. She was pretty nervous. You had tacalm her down. I had to calm her down and she was kind of yelling and feeling like she was going to die. I calmed her down and i told her, take off your seat belt. She was concerned about her legs. She wasnt able to move. So, i was able to reach to her hands and pull her. I know youre trained to watch out. You saw it was strange how she was driving but to find yourself in the situation, are you trained for this . I always try to have a lot of training outside of my work area, but, you know, something that i always try to keep up. Perfect. Anyone else with her or was she the only one . Luckily she was the only one and it was confirmed that there was nobody else inside of the vehicle. David, thank you so much for talking to us. Right place, right time. Jumping into action there. It seems she was fine and wrapped up by paramedics after. Make sure there were no victims in the water, there were not. They were able tawrap this up in about an hour and a half. David still very low key after that dramatic rescue. Thank you. The 97yearold woman fighting an eviction notice on the peninsula passed away last night. We are talking about marie hash who was being forced out of her college in burlingame. The notice came after her landlord and close friend passed away and the new landlord decided to sell that property. A law firm has since stepped in to help out hatch pro bono. A lockdown at the Santa Clara County jail after an inmate brawl that was caught on the cameras that sheriff laurie smith had installed just days ago. The cameras captured this melee that started yesterday afternoon and also the response to it. Now, according to sheriff laurie smith more than 0 inmates were involved, including some of the more hard line suspects awaiting trial. Smith says the inmates seemed to take sides based on race. It looks like one inmate brushed up against another and then the fists. You could see a lot of fist fighting and the inmates are spread throughout the pod. But thats where we installed the cameras. We dont have cameras in any of the other housing areas. Its interesting that it happened here. Now, one Watchdog Group questions why the guards group the inmates as they did in the same area where the cameras were installed. As for injuries, the nursing staff treated several inmates for bumps and bruises. The timing of that brawl only adds to the question surrounding the jail. It happened just hours before a judge ruled three correctional deputies must stand trial for last summers beating death of an inmate. As we go through the rest of the day, the rain will be spotty and not expecting much in the way of any heavy downpours and we may have a couple of those popping up here and there and into the afternoon also a chance of some rain that will be very hit or miss and it will continue as we go through the rest of the day. Later today, well have some brief passing showers by this afternoon and a mix of sun and clouds and then as we go into tomorrow, were watching for a bigger storm system that may create some flash floodflooding along with strong winds and rain and heavy downpours with that. The Atmospheric River is setting up and the flow of the upper level winds and carry several areas of low pressure all across the bay area and also across the region that will create a very wet pattern. It starts out early this afternoon with some yellows and some reds here that indicate we could have some brief, heavy downpours but most of what we will see today will be some spotty, light rain and then here we are for tomorrow with some heavier downpours moving through. At 9 00 tomorrow evening, the strongest of those storms will be rolling by and then well see things kind of winding down, still with some rain lingering into sunday and rainfall totals are quite a bit. Were looking at least an inch and a half in San Francisco and maybe some spots that get over to 2, 2 1 2 inches of rain just this weekend. Ill detail that coming up.
