A stolen car leads to an officerinvolved shooting in the east bay. It happened overnight. Alameda county sheriffs deputies say it ended not far from interstate 880. Today in the bay bob redell is live with the details on what happened, bob. And the ultimate result here, an officer firing his weapon. But, fortunately, no one was hurt. The suspect taken into custody. You can see here still an active scene at ricardo and shirley. This is a block away where the stop took place. Alameda sheriff detectives just arrived on the scene and started to arrive within the past 15 to 20 minutes and the stolen car in question, you cant see, down there to the right of that dead end. Around midnight that Alameda County Sheriff Deputies started chasing the driver of the stolen car and this was on surface streets. About a five to tenminute chase. Thats about a mile from here. The suspect with no knowledge of the local roads ended up driving down into a dead end. The suspect was cornered feeling trapped. The Alameda County Sheriffs Office told us he then drove his cars towards deputies feeling threatened. Thats when one deputy started firing their weapon. They missed the suspect, but hit the car several times. The car ended up crashing into a te telephone pole and at that point the deputies took the suspect and the female paernsh ssenger custody. Deputies did shoot at the car, hitting the car several times because the deputies felt threatened as this car was coming towards them. As far as why the suspects decided to flee or what was the initial investigation for the chase the Sheriff Department has still not been able to tell us that. Reporting live, bob redell, today oin the bay. An intense standoff ends with a wanted suspect. You can see this man coming out with his hands up. Several people were inside this house for hours as police in the s. W. A. T team swarm the neighborhood. All of this unfolding near the silver creek neighborhood in east san jose. Police say that the suspect tracked the suspect to the home but barricaded himself inside. We now know the suspect is linked to a burglary that we reported on last month. In that burglary, the man ransacked the home while the woman stood on the front porch as a lookout. Police released these mugshots. Happening today, the man at the center of the bizarre vallejo kidnapping case is due in court this time for a separate crime. In a few hours, Matthew Mueller will be senanced in connection with a Home Invasion back in dublin. Back in june, he allegedly broke into a home and tried to tie up a homeowner and his wife with a zip ties. He previously pled no contest. He faces up to 11 years in prison. In the gone girl kidnapping of Denise Huskins back in march which Police Originally believed was a hoax. 4 38 right now as we head into the weekend, we are expecting cheerleaders, pompoms. This is a live look at the bay bridge this morning where implosion plans on the old eastern span are expected to get under way tomorrow. The sixsecond implosion is expected to take place some time between 6 45 and 7 00 in the morning. At least that was originally the plans. City workers will take extra precautions to keep commuters safe. Chp will be doing rolling traffic breaks across the bridge while b. A. R. T. Service to San Francisco will be shut down during that implosion. Now, to another detour you should know about. Construction work on a tunnel for pedestrians. We do see the temperatures warming up nicely through the morning and early afternoon under all that sunshine and a light wind and by 3 00 were at 64 degrees and then when the sun sets, dropping back into the 50s. So, a jacket needed most of the day. 71 degrees will be the high today in gilroy while san carlos is at 67 for the high. The lower at 65 degrees and the embarcadero at 66 and napa 69 and oakland 67 degrees. Some spots hitting the low 70s like pleasanton and also in pittsburg, as well as santa rosa. As we get ready for our next rainmaker. It starts out with rain and snow in the Higher Elevations and parts of oregon and moving down into washington, as well. It spreads across the south bay, it looks like most of the rain should be out of here by the noon hour. And then it moves over towards the east and producing some moderate snowfall for the sierra. They discovered 69 lions were killed during the very same month that wellknown lion cecil was killed in africa by a minnesota hunter.
