Well [ bleep ] kill these people if we have to. Mystery solved. A potential breakthrough in the 12year old disappearance of Natalee Holloway. This morning her father speaks out in a live interview. All that and eclipse fever breaking out coast to coast. This may be the biggest weve ever seen. Honoring elvis, 40 years after his death. He broke the mold. He broke the mold. Were live at graceland with Priscilla Presley. And the new necklace that live streams your life. Today, wednesday, august 16th, 2017. Announcer from nbc news, this is today, with matt lauer and savannah guthrie. Live from studio 1a in rockefeller plaza. Good morning, everyone. Welcome to today on this wednesday morning. We have got an awful lot to get to, so lets start with our top story. President trump at the center of a new firestorm after pivoting back to his original wake on the weekend violence in virginia. The president saying both sides of protesters were to blame and that very fine people took part in the rallies that were organized by White Nationalists. His words sparking immediate outrage. Well have full coverage of the fallout, as we said, well talk about it with republican Governor John Kasich of ohio who ran against donald trump in the republican primaries, but let us begin with nbcs chief White House Correspondent hallie jackson. Reporter this morning, donald trump finds himself in an unpres tented position for an american president. Slammed by fellow republicans as he is praised by White Supremacists. Its more backlash from that extraordinary exchange with reporters here at trump tower. Although, not everybody in the gop is speaking out or calling out President Trump by name, some leaders like mitch mcconnell, still silent so far after the president blamed both sides for saturdays violence. It is a return to his original remarks on charlottesville. And something thats once again has put him at the center of an explosive controversy. This morning, new fallout from inside the president s own party. Blasting what they see, not just as a political failure, but a moral one. After the violence in charlottesville. You had many people in that group other than neonazis and White Nationalists, okay . Reporter the president , combative and defiant. Unleashing and unscripted. I think theres blame on both sides. And i have no doubt about it. And you dont have any doubt about it, either. Reporter john mccain writing, theres no moral equivalency between racists and americans standing up to defy hate and bigotry. The president of the United States should say so. And from marco rubio. The White Supremacy groups being assigned only 50 of a blame as a win. Overnight, protesters, led by michael moore, demonstrated outside trump tower. What about the altleft, that came charging at, as you say, the altright, do they have any semblance of guilt . Reporter police say both protesters and counterprotesters came for a fight in charlottesville with some demonstrators carrying nazi and confederate flags. And chanting racist and antisemitic taunts. You had some very bad people in that group. But you also had people that were very fine people, on both sides. Reporter the president s extraordinary exchange with reporters stunned even his own advisers. One senior white house official telling nbc news, the president went rogue. He was originally set to talk infrastructure then leave his advisers to answer questions. Instead, he did himself, as john kelly, new chief of staff, stood to the side. Appearing to visibly flinch, lowering his head and crossing his arms. You had a group on one side that was bad and a group on the other side that was also very violent. Do you think that what you call the altleft is the same as neonazis . All of those people excuse me, i condemned neonazis. I condemned many different groups, but not all of those people were neonazis. Believe me. Not all of those people were White Supremacists, by any stretch. What nationalists these people were also there because they wanted to protest the taking down of a statue robert e. Lee. So this week its robert e. Lee. I notice that Stonewall Jackson is coming down. I wonder is it George Washington next week and Thomas Jefferson the week after. You really do have to ask yourself where does it stop . Reporter now, the former grand wizard of the kkk is thanking the president for his honesty and courage. Altright leader Richard Spencer tells the atlantic hes proud of President Trump. Just hours later, the head of the marine corps posted a tweet, writing, theres no place for racial hatred or extremism in the marine corps. Our core values of honor, courage and commitment frame the way marines live and act. And now yet another defection from the president S Manufacturing council. The latest, the head of the aflcio, the Largest Group of labor unions in the country. Richard trum trump ka. Saying he refused to accept any tolerance of bigotry and domestic terrorism. The president , who left the lobby after 20 minutes, walking away after that blistering back and forth. When asked if he would visit charlottesville, pausing for a final thought. Does anyone know i own a house in charlottesville . I own one of the largest wineries in the United States thats in charlottesville. Reporter you saw the president s advisers surrounding him there, flanking him at the lechturn but not steve bannon. When asked about his controversial chief strategist, President Trump simply responded we will see what happens. Two sources close to bannon says he seems confident that he will survive this latest round of questions about his political future with the president. Matt, savannah, back to you. Hallie jackson, outside of trump tower just down the road from us here in new york. Hallie, thank you. What are the facts . How does the president s latest take of what happened, square with what took place in charlottesville over the weekend . Nbcs tom costello is there with a fact check and hes also got actual video of the protests. Tom, good morning. Reporter hi, guys. Good morning to you. Since the weekend, witnesses have told us that both sides were antagonizing for a fight. On the one hand, you had members of the kkk, neonazis and White Supremacists who were screaming ideologies responsible for the deaths of millions of people in the past century alone. On the other hand, you had young people, many who were students who were standing up to racism and antisemitism. Friday night in charlottesville. Blood and soil. Blood and soil. Reporter if you look, they were people protesting very quietly. The taking down of the statue of robert e. Lee. Reporter but in fact, fridays march on the university of virginia campus was anything but quiet, as White Nationalists and neonazis carry torches in a scene reminiscent of 1930s germany. Jews will not replace us. Jews will not replace us. Reporter chanting racial and religious hatred. Some even throws the nazi salute. Many locals say it was terrifying. The mayor denouncing the march calling it intimidation and saying it was unsanctioned. The next morning, they gathered again, targeting the robert e. Lee statue, that the city wants to take down. You had very bad people in that group. You also had people who were very fine people, on both sides. Reporter in fact, the event was organized by White Nationalists, many dressed in paramilitary garb, with clubs, nazi flags, shields and semiautomatic weapons. Vice news interviewed one man who said he had no problem being violent. I am trying to make myself more capable of violence. I carry a pistol. I go to the gym all the time. Im here to spread ideas, talk, in the hopes that somebody more capable will come along and do that. Somebody like donald trump who does not give his daughter to a jew. So, donald trump but more racist . A lot more racist than donald trump. Reporter police say the White Nationalists failed to stick to an agreement on where to demonstrate. Soon they were doing battle with counterprotesters. If you do not disperse immediately, you will be arrested. What about the altleft . What about the fact they came charging they came charging with clubs in their hands, swinging clubs in their hands . Reporter thats true. In fact. Witnesses tell nbc news, there were people on both sides who seemed ready for a fight. And some counterprotesters were armed with clubs, some with pepper spray. They maced me. Reporter who . I dont know. Communists. Reporter who is to blame for the violence . Charlottesville police chief al thomas. Do you believe that one side was more responsible for instigating the violence than another . This was an altright rally. Reporter and a White Nationalists killed with a car Heather Heyer. The president suggeheyer. The president said both sides said both sides. Mr. Prump trump is mistaken, there are no nice neonazis. I think theyre in favor of bringing our society together. Reporter this morning Virginia GovernorTerry Mcauliffe is out with a statement saying this was not both sides. He says neonazis, clansmen and White Supremacists came heavily armed and spewing hate and one murdered a young woman in the act of terrorism and two of our final Police Officers were killed trying to serve this community. Incident amy the memorial for Heather Heyer is here today in charlottesville. Tom, thank you. Ohio Governor John Kasich has been a vocal critic of President Trump. He ran against him, food to see you. Good morning. Reporter pathetic, isnt it . Just pathetic, listening to this, hearing these marchers. Think if you were an 8, 9 or 10yearold, getting ready to go to school like they are in ohio. You happen to come from a jewish family or you are africanamerican and you hear this kind of hatred. We know about bullying that goes on in the schools and what are we doing to our children . Theyre not condemned, these people who went there to carry out violence and to somehow draw some kind of equivalency to somebody else reduces the ability to totally condemn these hate groups. I know about them savannah and matt. I know about them. Let me tell you something. When you listen to the president speaking yesterday and you we heard his comments, saying blame on both sides and there were some very fine people who took part in that neonazi White Nationalist rally in your heart and in your gut, what did you feel . Its terrible. You know, this is terrible. The president of the United States needs to condemn these kind of hate groups. Think about what you have seen. You know, as one of the reporters said, reminiscent of what we saw in germany in the 1930s. The president has to totally condemn this. And this is not about winning an argument. This is about the fact that now these folks apparently are going to go other places. They think they had some sort of a victory. There is no moral equivalency between the kkk, neonazis and anybody else. Anybody else is not the issue. These folks went there to disrupt. I was unveiling a Holocaust Memorial right here in ohio and we had to put the ceremony inside of a theater because we were worried that people from the neonazi, the kkk, would come and throw concrete at the people who were gathered to honor those people who were slaughtered and not just the people in the jewish communities, but across the board and we had to move it inside the theater because of violence. This is a very serious matter. I kept thinking about our Politics Today and how everyone is so divided. You are wearing a trump teeshirt or you are not. But isnt this on a totally different level . I mean, you are talking about an ideology that people died in this country to fight against, the nazis. And here you see a video of this rally, theyre saying things that the nazis said. Reporter it, look, when you have when there is no human decency, it leads to disorder. Which is what we saw down there and disorder leads to death. And we saw three people died t. Young woman hit by the car and we also saw two state troopers died trying to monitor the crowd. There is no place for politics here. Its being unanimously condemned by people from one end of the spectrum to the other. But theyve condemned before. Lets be honest about it. What should republicans do . What do you do if you work in the Trump White House . What should you do . Well, look, you know, i dont work in the Trump White House. I didnt endorse the man, because i felt that he was a person of division and i have been hoping and i have been restrained in wanting him to be better. See, whats happening, the presidency is being reduced to another ceo job. The presidency is the most important job in the country. And there is a bitterness setting in that may not be able to be removed. Look, i want him to do well. I want donald trump to understand its not about winning an argument. Its about bringing the country together. It is not about having some argument trying to justify these people on the left who went to a sweet town like charlottesville for purposes of bringing violence. He needs to make it clear, i mean, hes got to fix this and republicans have to speak out. Plain and simple. Who cares what party you are in. You say you want him to do well. There are people saying you know what, this is the moment the president has crossed the line. Its not a fine line, its a big, fat definitive line and republicans and democrats, by the way, you are a guy by the end of the campaign, people said incredibly good things about your character and your message and what you stood for, would you be willing to be the guy that goes around to Republican Leaders and says, this is our moment, we will tell this president , we no longer support him, period . Reporter well, matt, hes our president. Okay . Im here this morning speaking out as aggressively as i can. I hope that it will provide some courage to other people and there are great numbers of people now speaking out. He is our president. But i want to say that he needs to correct what he has said. Hes got to understand what the people of this country want and hes got to bring us together. But you are not going to turn your back on the president. You are going to speak clearly, bluntly, say, get your act together. I lost a big Ballot Initiative here in ohio. Something i felt strongly about, about labor unions. I got beaten soundly. You know what i did that night, i said i we heard the people, trump the President Trump needs to listen to the people before he takes this presidency in a place that is not acceptable for our country. Governor john kasich. Governor, thanks for your time this morning, we appreciate it. Thank you, sir. God bless america. Lets bring in chuck todd moderator and meet the press nicole wallace. Chuck, kind of the same question i asked of governor kasich what do republicans do now . Is this a line or yet another thing that people get outraged about and a few days later it goes away irks its onto the next outrage . Look, i think every Republican Office holder had their own line. Yesterday you saw that, i think you cant assume that everybody says enough is enough on the same time table on this. But i have to say in listening to governor kasich here, i dont know that the president can fix this anymore. Monday he had the ability to fix it. He read something from a teleprompter. He undid that ability to fix it. So i think that while i hear what governor kasich i think is trying to say. He doesnt want to go there yet. We know what his line is, hes not there yet. I dont know how the president fixes this, in the ability if are you a republican, you decide. You maid this decision, well, when im with him, ill be with him, when im not, ill call it out. I dont know if thats enough anymore for people. You traveled around over the last six months. You talked to people that supported donald trump during the campaign and support him now as president. Youve we heard their reasons, one of the reasons by the way you told us so many times, they like the fact he speaks his mind. Right. Does this change anything . The people i interviewed were two time obama voters. These are the part of the Trump Coalition that are likely to be the most deeply aumpboffended b the comments yesterday. I think when you paint any group with a monolistic brush, neonazis and White Supremacists are a part of his coalition and he places their political ambitions ahead of the needs and the true economic despair of the rest of his base is what is so galling and so appalling, and so i think chuck is talking about, you dont recover from the leader of the free world standing there like he did yesterday, making them equal, making neonazis, peoples grandparents have died fighting against neonazis. This is not about red lines or rhetoric, this is making fool of the people who work for him. This is about degrading the people standing next to him. This is about demeaning the office of the presidency to a recoverable degree, uncoverable degree. Cluck and nicole, thank you very much, we appreciate it. Hows this for a transition . We need a check of the weather, mr. Roker. All righty. We went a little further than we do this hour. Lets get to other things that need to be talked about. Some of our Severe Weather from the dakotas into parts of kansas, into nebraska. Protests raged outside of trump tower for a secondstraight night. Reactions to President Trump laying blame on both sides of protesters for violence this past weekend in charlottesville, virginia. Republicans and democrats have lined up to criticize the president s, including marco rubio, who said the white house should label the violence a, quote, terror attack, by White Supremacists. Overnight, baltimore took down four confederate stat chue. Monuments are slated for removal in lexington, kentucky and san antonio, texas. And four Union Members are been acquitted of threatening the cast of top chef. The cast said the men tried to stong arm the cast. And Padma Lakshmi said she was terrified. But a federal jury found the men not guilty after 20 hours of deliberations. We turn back to the president s controversial comments about the violence in virginia and the strong reactions they are attracting from all sides. Gabe gutierrez has that story. Reporter good morning. The president is drawing fire from many members of his own party. But reaction is running the gamut, with reaction on the far right, that those on the far left share the blame for the violence. This morning, the president s stunning News Conference earning praise from some White Supremacists who took it as a sign of acceptance, david duke, thanking President Trump for honesty and courage to tell the truth about charlottesville. Altright leader, Richard Spencer, said the president s comments for fair and down to earth. Breitbart, President Trump blasted reporters. President trump is telling the people the truth. The elite media hates it. Reporter ann coulter tweeting, President Trump is the first person weve seen speaking the truth on tv in three days. The Republican National committee praised the president. The president has condemned White Supremacy many, many times. Reporter but many republicans are outraged. What trump did today was a moral disgrace. Yes, there were bad guys on both sides. Thats not the point. The ride began over a nazi riot. A nazi rally. And the only killing occurred by one of the pronazi, prokkk people. John mccain, mitt romney and paul ryan echoing similar messages. I cant believe it happened. Reporter some conservatives said it is possible to denounce bigotry and preserve history. Do you feel your legacy is being hijacked by White Supremacists . I think thats a fair statement. Reporter barry eisenhower has fought against removing charlottesvilles statue of robert e. Lee. What do you say to the people that argue its become a symbol of White Supremacy . Thats a 21st century view. Reporter he says, he agrees there were violence on both sides. It looked like everybody was out there with violence on both sides. Reporter eisenhower said his group decided not to attend this weekends rally. He strongly denounces the kkk and neonazis. He cautions you shouldnt lump in all of the groups fighting to keep this statue here. And he also says, he describes the racism on display here over the weekend as lunacy. Back to you. Gabe, thank you. Nbc news special correspondent, tom brokaw, joins us from montana. You have covered president s all the way back from richard nixon. Put this in perspective what were seeing from this administration. What does it compare to . From timetotime in this country, obviously, reaching back to richard nixon, we have been divided by the war in vietnam and other issues. But all president s attempt to pull the country together. When i go around america, i find that republicans, democrats and independents alike, say we have to find a way to work together. And then, we have an astonishing statement by the president yesterday, in which he divided america. He refused to condemn the hateful hate groups that have assembled in charlottesville. Thats how it began. Shouting antisemitic roaremark demanding that white people have a right to rule america, in effect. David duke, calling the president out saying, we elected you. You owe us. The counterdemonstrators should learn something about how to be more effective. In my years as a reporter, the most impressive thing i ever saw was the Nonviolent Movement of dr. Martin luther king. They moved this country because they were able to concentrate on the moral questions that were there. Everybody has to look at whats going on. But most of all, there has to be widespread condemnation of the hate groups that went to charlottesville that now feel empowered by the president s remarks. Tom, where do you think it goes from here . How do we move on from this point . I dont know. You know, it really does require president ial leadership of a higher order, to bring the country together. And now, the question will be, how many members of his administration will feel that they have to leave because they cant support his policies . Does he read some kind of a statement . Thats not going to be enough. Hes going to have to find a way to stitch the country back together again. And frankly, i dont know whether hes capable of doing that in his own mind. This is the donald trump that everybody in new york came to know when he was a business man. He would see things through his own prism. But now hes the president of the United States. And its always somebody elses fault. Its Mitch Mcconnells fault because they didnt get health care. Its someone elses fault. He is the moral authority, by the office that he has and its about time for him to exercise that. Tom, do you think were going to see more charlottesvilles going on around the country as the months go on . I hope not. That would be an outrageous commentary on where we are, in the 21st century. Last night, i was at an event in bozeman, montana. It was a tribute, citizens. It was a big ranching issue and the use of land. Farming in kansas and fishing in the gulf coast. And it was a demonstration of how citizens can come together and solve the problems that are important to them. And i think the country really does have to rise up. Well see what the republicans in the congressional areas have to say about all this, as well. All right. Tom brokaw, joining us this morning. Thank you for your perspective. We appreciate it. Good to see you. Thanks, tom. My pleasure. All right. Lets swing over to mr. Roker. Back with another check of the weather. Thats right. Something we dont have to talk to our kids about, as well. Well see more of the same weather the next few days while the inland areas will get some sunshine and the warming trend begins today with some low 80s inland, in the upper 80s for tomorrow as well as friday. On saturday also some warm temperatures but it does cool down as we go into next week looking at lower 80s for next monday and tuesday. Thank you very much. Stephanie ruhle is here to talk more about the impact of weve seen ceos leave thiS Manufacturing council. Do you expect more to follow and how does big business look at what unfolded over the last few days . Big business does not want to be involved in big or little politics. Council did it for the greater good and wanted to work with the white house on different initiatives. Now that weight is getting too heavy. Getting calling from people like me every day. How do you feel about nazis is not a call. Weve already seen four ceos leave. Last night many more have said just no more noise. They want this to quiet down, to focus on work. Its a big difference because remember a week or so when dow crossed paths and a lot of people said, why is business booming and why is wall street booming despite all the controversy surrounding this white house . One ceo said you know why business is booming because people in business dont care about whos talking to who in russia. But this they care about. This they care about because this goes directly up against their core values. Every corporate leader has to think about what do i represent and what does my company represent . A very clear line when youre talking what do my customers care about . Your customers, shareholders, board. President trump hasnt had to be accountable like that, they have to. Expedia gives you the world in your hand, so you can see more of it. Expedia. Were back now. 8 14 on this wednesday morning. Its been 12 years since Natalie Holloway disappeared on a trip to aruba. This is a case that made headlines around the world. Her remains have never been found. This morning a potential break. Were going to talk about it with her father in a moment. First more on the new development in the investigation. After 12 years of false hopes and dead ends, Dave Holloway and his hired private investigator appear together in a new oxygen series the disappearance of Natalie Holloway to investigate the latest lead into the where abouts of her remains. We have a person who states that he was directly involved with disposing of natalies remains. I thought, there may be something to this. Reporter the lead came from a man named gabe rel who says his man helped dispose of natalies remains and knows where she was buried. If natalies remains are found, it could lead to a conviction and finally justice for natalie. Weve chased a lot of leads, and this one is by far the most credible lead ive seen in the last 12 years. Dave and t. J. Are with us now. Good morning to you. Good morning. We should mention from the outside that nobody has ever been charged in connection with natalies disappearance, now this investigation has yielded something significant. What is it . Over a period of 18 months t. J. And i have been working together with an informant who has given us some information through a friend of yoren vabder sleuth. We followed it for 18 months. We did an 18month undercover investigation with an informant who was friends with an individual who was had personal knowledge and gathered information which took us to a spot where remains were found, and we took those remains and had those remains tested and they just returned last week that theyre human remains. When they talked to you about the place where natalie may have been buried, did you find the remains immediately . Was it trial and error . Did you have to look for days or weeks. Weve been back there several times back and forth. Hes taken us to different places, but they went there and went to a place behind a house that we were had under investigation, and went behind the house, and dug some remains up, and those remains were turned over to us, and we had those remains tested, and they have just come back as human remains . We know theyre human remains. Will there be a test to answer once and for all whether this is natalie . Were in the process of a dna test. That test will take several weeks to a month. And hopefully well know at that point in time. Whats your level of confidence, dave . Throughout all of this process, over the last 12 years weve had a number of disappointments, and ive put up a wall trying to find something thats not going to disappoint me. And when we determine these remains were human, i was shocked. I know theres a possibility this could be someone else, and im just trying to wait and see. What would it mean to you . To have that answer . It would be finally the end. Were going to say in a second that you guys are taking part in a new show on oxygen, and the reason im bringing this up is i think there may be some people who are going to hear what youre talking about and say wait a second, they have a new show remering and now these remains, and is this a promotion for this new show . And youre going to feel that this may be a little unsettling. How would you respond . T. J. And i started into this 18 months ago, and we decided that at that point in time, whether we have cameras or no cameras, oxygen came on with us and decided that we decided that, look, you guys just watch us, we want to document this. And in this series, youll see in several instances where if the camera was not on us and them, we would never be where were at now. Ever. Dave holloway, t. J. Ward, thank you very much. Good luck with your work. Well have more with them next hour. You can see the premier of the show saturday night on our sister channel, oxygen. Let us move over to al now. Al . We continue to watch the tropics. We have hurricane gert right now. 90 Miles Per Hour winds moving northeast at 21 Miles Per Hour. Again, maybe some rip currents as you get closer to long island and the coast of new england. Otherwise not a big problem. We are starting to see the tropics heating up. The waves coming off of africa. Weve got this next wave over the next five days, maybe 35 development. A 40 chance of development in the next five days the one we told you about yesterday, 91 l, has a 41 chance. Heres the path of development for the three systems. Well be watching them very good morning, im meteorologist kari hall. Our temperatures will be heading up into the mid60s today for San Francisco and half moon bay. Not a lot of clearing until later this afternoon, while oakland will be up to 70 degrees and san jose looking at a high of 79 degrees. For San Francisco, each day well still see those clouds lingering and highs in the upper 60s. While we have some warmer temperatures for the valleys, into the upper 80s for the end of the workweek. And that is your latest weather. All right. Thanks. Time for whats trending today. There you go. Youre going on a plane trip. You go to the airport . Who likes a drink before you get on the plane . Theyre asking airports in the uk to limit passengers to two drinks. The way it would work is you get a boarding pass. Every time you go into a restaurant or a bar at an airport, you have to present the boarding pass. They mark that boarding pass. After two, youre cut off. One of the reasons is they say this is an attempt to curb unrule unruly behavior in the skies. What if your boarding pass is on your phone . I dont know. They give you a letter on your forehead. A sign. Youre drunk. What if youre at the airport for several hours . What if youre really afraid of flying and you use a drink or two or three to relieve your anxiety in. Yeah. I dont know. When you say im drunk yes . Yes. Coming home from a Bachelorette Party in mexico with my best friend. You probably hadnt sobered up. Had you ever been subjected to someone elses drunk behavior. Thats the worst. Yes. Thats why im torn. What do you think . You didnt give your opinion. I think two drinks is enough before you get on a plane. I do. We asked people online what they thought. Despite leads over the years, natalees remains have never been found. And no one has been convicted in her disappearance. Thanks to a new informant who contacted her father, Dave Holloway, today, there may be a new lead in the case. May 30th, 2005, the day that 18yearold Natalee Holloway vanished from aruba. And the beginning of a nightmare for natalees father, dave, and their whole family. The worst thing to do is to lose a child. Reporter person of interest joran van der sloot was arrested for kidnapping and murder. He was eventually released. But now, vand der sloot is in a prison in peru, after confessing to a murder there. Joran is the last person seen with my daughter. He knows what happened. Reporter after 12 years of false hopes and deadends, dave and a private investigator, appears on the disappearance of Natalee Holloway, has a new lead. We have a person who says he was with joran van der sloot in disposing of natalees remains. Reporter the lead came from a man named gabriel, saying his friend knows where shes married. If the remains are found, it could lead to a conviction and justice for natalee. We chased a lot of leads. And this one is, by far, the most credible lead that ive seen in the last 12 years. With us now is natalees father, Dave Holloway, and his private investigator and friend, t. J. Ward. I was listening to you talk earlier. To lose your daughter and then not know where her body is, thats unimaginable for any parent watching this. Its something i wouldnt wish on anyone. Its hard to deal with it. You just dont know the answers. Well, you try to look for a theory to give you closure. And we had some sort of closure back when joran killed this other girl in peru and he was put in prison. We looked at that and said, its not justice for natalee. But hes in prison. And we feel deeply for the parents of the other girl. But that and then, we declared her deceased. We went through a closure process. Can you talk about your decision to choose the fact that oxygens cameras were going to document what you were finding. And t. J. s investigation, into this new lead. Weve been working on this for 18 months. Ive been involved in this case for 12 years, in my effort to bring closure for the holloway family. We had an individual came forward named gabriel. And he knew an individual that was friends with joran van der sloot. And gabriel brought it to dave and then to me. And gabriel started to give us leads and giving us information that we found to be true. Of course, with that, they went to this area on the island, behind this individuals aunts home. And were able to he took gabriel there. And they dug up human remains. They brought the remains in. We had the remains sent off to be tested. Theyre back to be human. This is the first time we know this. Gabriel was concerned. Hes a parent. And was concerned about dave and his family and information he was hearing from this individual. And took the responsibility of calling dave and had him deal with me. And he was very helpful in the information he shared. Dave, you talked about the fact when you get a new lead, its like reliving this over and over again. Right now, youre in a waiting period to find out this dna. What is it like for you . For 12 years, ive conditioned myself for failure. Every lead we followed, it ends up gono good. I went into this process, very skeptical. Had the wall up. Looking for ways or excuses to say this cant be real. You protected your wife from this, right . In 2015. We had a lead at the marriott hotel. The information gave us information that natalee was buried under that hotel. After t. J. And i worked on it for some time, we realized through the help of the fbi, that was untrue. After that fall on the floor with me and my family, i said i will never, ever lead my family on in a lead that im not sure about. T. J. And i kept it between ourselves and proceeded on to protect me and my family. When do you think you will find out . A week or two . It may take several weeks to learn the information, whether it is natalees remains. If its not, whose remains are they . That needs to be determined. And we hope the government gets back involved and helps us determine who that is if its not natalee. All the best to you. Dave holloway and t. J. Ward. The disappearance of natalee hollow holloway this weekend at 7 00 p. M. Lets go to al and the father. In boise, sun valley, madras, as we make our way to the east.
