Hillary clinton and donald trump are taking a brief break before the president ial race turns for home after labor day weekend. On saturday trump visited a black church in detroit in effort to reach out to African American voters among whom he trails badly. Reading from prepared texts, the country needs a civil rights agenda for our time, one that insures a better education and good jobs. San francisco 49ers quarterback colin kaern will continue to explain his recent protests at the Church Service today. His refusal to stand for the National Anthems had set off a fire storm. But the police chief is assuring the public the stadium will be safe after some threats. To a High School Football game on friday night. Check out this picture timed perfectly in texas. Connor curry apparently getting pass protection from a ghost. Capturing this news when a linemens helmet came loose from floated there eerily in midair. Paul is the founder and ceo of iava. Paul served himself in the United States army as First Lieutenant and platoon leader in iraq. Good morning. And symone. Pretty good praise right there. And adrian s. Great to have you here. First of all we made it to labor day 2016. I want to congratulate everybody. Ted cruz got in march 30, 2015. And now here we are turning for home. So pat on the back. Lets start with Donald Trumps potential outreach to minorities. A black church yesterday in detroit. He was in philadelphia. And earlier in the week he made the trip down to mexico. To met with president there. And came back to phoenix. And many noted the contrast in the tone of those two events. We did discuss the wall. We didnt discuss payment of the wall that. Will be for a later date. We will built a great wall along the southern board. And mexico will pay for the wall. They dont know it yet but they are so adrian, diplomat by day in mexico. Fire brand in phoenix. Did he do anything to help himself this week among latino voters. I think what you saw a lot of his pangic advisors say you saw maybe a compassionate speech and maybe a new trump. And what he did in phoenix was a hardline immigration stance. The way he started. Telling his hispanic advisor, im open to a way, lets think of a way that undocumented immigrants can stay here. Trump said the same himself. And then 11 days later hes giving this fiery speech in phoenix that supporters love. And i was there on the ground and they were really excited he did not give up on immigration. And late outreach to African American voters like in detroit yesterday. Feel likes too little too late to a lot of people. I definitely think it is too little too late. And donald trump was at church yesterday and also in philadelphia on friday meeting with African American leaders and what not. That was a closed press thing. Its good to go do this outreach. But were 60 days and election day. And you cant start outreach to communities 60 days br election day. And we havent heard any policies outside this hardline immigration thing for donald trump. So i think folks are looking for some remedies for this rhetoric and his rhetoric is still very divisive. It is still very demeaning. And i dont think the tleeoutre is for African American voters. I think it is for the moderate republicans th republicans. With all that donald trump has said. Look at some of the numbers. Hillary clinton is probably looking at the electoral map but polling looks to have tightened up and part of that is to stories like this. 47 page report from the fbi detailing the investigation into hero home brewed server. She said she didnt understand that c marks meant classified. She used 13 devices. The old ones detoroid with a hammer. And never sought approval for private email server despite obligation do so. That is why her honest and trustworthy numbers are right where Donald Trumps are. And thinker both incredibly unpopular. They are going for the middle. Trying to get people undecided. And trying to get people who are independent and trying to take from each others sides where they can. This issue continues to dog secretary clinton and it is a big reason why her poll numbers continue to suffer. Most americans are sick of the whole process. Many just want it to be over but they wont to be foccontinue to these. You had some critiques about Hillary Clinton and honesty and trustworthiness. Do you still feel that way. I think its clear that i think there are clearly a number of americans that dont think have feelings about secretary clinton but i do think that they dislike donald trump more. And that is what were currently seeing. And i really think this is going to end upcoming down to who a s going to be a great commander in chief. Who is going to lead. Who is going to stand up there and when the rubber meets the road advocate for as we turn out of labor day weekend, where is this race . Were with a new poll every day. How close is is it . How far apart . I think trump had maybe two or three of his worst weeks after the convention and clinton got to about the seven to nine point lead and now its tightened again. Maybe like 4, 5 points. I think a lot of fundamentals havent changed. Trump still has to connect with some voters beyond his base. His base loves him. And he really has to expand in some of those you see some of these polls in michigan, where there are Republican Voters that are affluent. They dont really like him. And even among white voters. College educated. A group that republicans typically win. Paul, commander in chief forum. Your group, iava helping to put it together. Maus l matt lauer hosting. What do you want to hear from donald trump and Hillary Clinton . Why they think they should be commander in chief. This is historic event. And how are you going to reform the va. Tackle suicide. Take care of women veterans. These are the issues that havent been tackled in front of the campaign. At least for one hour. And you were the first person the get those two in the same place at one time on an aircraft carrier. I do want to talk about the Colin Kaepernick. Refusing to stand for the anthem. A photograph this week came out of him in practice wearing socks with pig as cops. I believe that protest is part of the american fabric. We got this country via protest. So i rey dont think there are few things more american than protest and Colin Kaepernick has the right to protest. I might not have worn the sock it is a have pigs on them because i also have lots of family members and friends that are police officers. But there is a segment of officers in this country that are not. We cant deny that black and brown people have been disproportionately killed in police custody. So i think that is what this is about. And its concerning to me that folks have come out and they have had issues with Colin Kaepernick because i wonder if it is about the mental or the messenger and if he was protesting abortion rights or something of that nature. A lot to with the tactics. I fought for his right do this. And most veterans feel the same way. By protesting during the National Anthem you have entire entirely distracted from your message. There are a lot of ways to get attention. He could have made this message a lot more effectively. I play football. I coach football. You are on the field in front of millions. The brain child of krasinski, its one of the many projects John Krasinski has going now but over a decade ago, the struggling actor was this close to giving up on the dream and going home to massachusetts when the office called and changed his life. Now john directs and stars in a film about family called the hollers. We caught up with the bartender on the day of the movies release. This is how you pour a beer. I know i can eat six saltines in under a minute without water. How is it going, john . Dwight . Most of us were introduced to John Krasinski sometime after his story as a bartender came to an end. He played a paper salesman on the office. Marijuana is a memory loss drug, so maybe you just dont remember. Thats not how it works. How do you know how it works . Knock it off. Im interviewing you. No, you said i would be conducting the interview when i walk in here. Now exactly how much pot did you speak . Jim was known for looks to camera and his crush on pam, the receptionest. The office was the break that set his career. We owe everything to the fans. Our show was going to be cancelled and itunes came out and they were buying a show for 1. 99. They bought a show they could see for free. This is not funny. This is totally unprofessional. Youre the one. Thats the reason why we stayed on, and then we caught fire on our own way. Every time someone comes up to me and says it is a bummer youll only be known as jim . Being known as jim is an honor. In the last year alone krasinski starred in 13 hours and an amazon series and welcomed his second daughter with wife emily blunt and delivered what you might call his third baby. Ice cream and pretzels. How about heart attacks. Is that one of her favorite things, too . Do you have a problem with me. Krasinski is the producer, star about a struggling artist and father to be who comes home after his mother got sick. Youve been working on this for years and years and years and put your own money into it and directed, produced, starred. How do you feel today. Special. This is a movie not being made much anymore, in todays world when everything is dramatic out there already, its nice to tell stories as simple and strong as family. I come from a very loving, tightknit family, which is not this family, and yet at the end of the script i said thats my family. So he set out to assemble his movie family starting with a familiar face. I feel great. The first call i made was to Margaret Martin dale. If she didnt do it, i wouldnt have done it. Here is one piece of video. Oh my god, you found it. You found it. What are we looking at here . A marshalls commercial from maybe 17 years ago, and its a woman i was sitting to was Margaret Martindale. And the story is she turned to you she said i dont have any money but if i did, id bet it on you. Terrified. When you put this movie together at the same time, your starting a family of your own. Yes. You just had a little girl. Just had a little girl, hazel. Did that change the way you looked at this story . It only changed everything. So yes, i did understand my characters sort of plot a little better being the guy on the doorstep or being a father. I understood my parents better immediately and even more thankful for having a loving relationship with my brothers and you think about the bigger idea of who has been here before you and where youre headed. So i didnt realize going back a little bit in your career, how close you were to getting out of the business to not doing it. Yeah. In fact, like a week away, maybe from getting out of the business. Yes. Before the office comes up. Yeah. Where were you at that point in your life and career. I went to this college and there was a Great College in water ford, connecticut. I went in there wanting to be an english teacher and i said ill give the acting thing a real try and my mom said okay, if you do this you have to make one promise n two and a half, three years and if you dont feel like there is a bite, if there is not a nibble, you have to make me a promise youll pull out because you cant ask her to give up on her sons dreams which is a great, supportive way. Two and a half three years later, i said youre right. Im going to pull out. She said its september, wait until the end of the year. Three weeks later booked the office. Im living a Lottery Ticket life. 13 hours was a massive transformation not only physically but for my career because people were able to say, yeah, lets see hill in Something Else and they allowed me to do it. This is jack silva. When that script came to you, what were you thinking . You knew there would be a political reaction to the movie. The only thing you can do is what does it feel like to you . Im a huge military supporter. I come from a huge military family. I thought this is a perfect opportunity to show what it really takes to be a man or woman serving for us. So tell me what your lovely life emily thought about the physical transformation. Shes been in shape for movies like this and shes generally always in shape in a frustrating way. So she inspired you a bit. My wife is my hero in every single way, truly every single day im blown away by her so im always looking to her for inspiration. Do you like playing football . I love playing football. You had amazing mentors directing this movie, you were able to talk to people like george clooney. The thing i learned most is how to maintain a level of class and respect on a movie set like it would be in a cloassroom or workplace. It has got to be were humans and do something. There is never a moment were not family. Another connection you had was to robin williams. Tie the knot, what do you do . Who talked you through your career. He took me aside and said i think youll be in this business awhile. Dont ever forget the responsibility you have to be the better person than everybody else on this set meaning you have a responsibility to be a leader and to care about this movie and these people for everybody. I have taken it to heart every single day. The hollers is in theaters now. As mentioned, johns next big role follows in the footsteps of alec baldwin and Harrison Ford as he plays jack ryan in the series for amazon. Hes been fired as a bartender nine times. We stepped behind the bar to check the skills and you can see that in the web extras.
