But the report is scathing blaming not only the Rolling Stone reporter but the editor. They are apologizing to readers and anyone else damaged by the piece, but despite that, everyone will keep their jobs. This morning the story that horrified the country has been retracted, replaced on the Rolling Stone website with the headline, what went wrong . A new independent review calls the article a story of journalistic failure that was avoidable. A woman identified as jackie claims she was assaulted by seven men at a fraternity in 2012. This report from a Journalism School finds Rolling Stone violated basic journalistic principles by not contacting jackies friends to check her story. If this reporter contacted you, would this be avoided . Absolutely. We sat down with two of jackies friends mentioned in the article. I wondered why there was a photo i had never given. Reporter the report found Rolling Stone did not try hard enough to find the person accused of orchestrating the assault and did not give the fraternity a chance to review the allegations in detail. The reporter apologized. I allowed my concern for jackies well being, my fear of retraumatizing her and my confidence to take the place of more questioning and more facts. Charlottesville police cant rule out something terrible happened at some point all i can tell you is theres no substantive basis to conclude that something happened in the article that night. Calling it irresponsible journalism, they did nothing to combat Sexual Violence and addressed serious efforts to address the issue. There is a lot to be learned and thats the take away. Will Dzhokhar Tsarnaev take the stand in the followup trial to come and what penalty will be imposed . His lawyers have conceded that he was involved in the bombings and the shootings that followed. Dzhokhar tsarnaev faces a total of 30 counts and a conviction on any of 17 of them dealing with the deaths of four victims would mean he could face the Death Penalty in a second trial. The jury would choose between a sentence of death or life in prison without parole. He did not testify in the guilt phase, instead staring straight ahead in court most of the time or slumping in his chair at the defense table. Even during testimony that had jurors in tears such but his lawyers repeatedly said he was dominate bid his older brother tamerlan who they say took the major steps in the crime spree that followed. If the defense lawyers think taking the stand could humanize him he could testify. When the jury must be unanimous to impose the Death Penalty. If the one juror votes he gets left. Indianapolis police are searching for three suspects wanted in connection with the shooting of five people in a home including three children. One of the victims is just six months old. Police dont believe the shootings were random. All of the victims are in serious condition. Brown says farmers have faced cuts to the federal water supply costing many workers their jobs. Critics say the farming industry uses the most water state wide. You had to learn english at what age, about 8 when you moved here . Yeah about the age of 7. I got lost in the Public School system in washington washington, d. C. And what this book dishes and in that spirit i know we have a lot to talk about. And you have been very candid lately. For one thing, you have been in the headlines a bit because of your weight. And people most recently after the award season said giuliana is so skinny something is going on there. And you decided, im going to talk about it. It was something that i didnt feel like i ever needed to talk about, because i think weight is very personal whether you are underweight or overweight whatever its your business. But it became distracting. I would do a twohour red carpet show and so proud of the interview, so many fun moments, and go on the internet afterwards just to see 99 of the comments about my weight. And so i basically found it distracting and thought, i think its time to just tell the truth and tell people whats going on. What is going on . You are, in fact very very thin. People say, do you have an eating disorder . I do not have an eating disorder. I never have had an eating disorder. I want to be very clear about that. In fact i eat a lot. You know and people always they love to tweet, eat a burger. I eat burgers. Its not working. But the main thing is ive lost a considerable amount of weight really in the past year or two. Due to the cancer medication im on. To be honest i was eating more than i ever ate and was losing weight. I was scared and thought, what the heck is happening to my body. You said you would like to gain weight. Exactly. It is very scary to have cancer be on medication and then you start losing weight. I think, oh my gosh is the cancer back and he said a side effect from the medication youre on is weight loss. You have been on a lot this year. One of the things have to do with your struggle with fertility. You have an adorable little boy. Thank you. Who is over 2 now, but i know you were hoping your surrogate would be able to have another baby. You just got sad news about that. We did. We everyone has been asking us about our last embryo because we would talk about it on the reality show we had our final shot of having a baby a biological child, another biological child. Unfortunately, she did miscarry. It just didnt work out. But thats okay. We have other options. Ive been open to adoption even before we had issues. So were definitely looking at our options. And lets talk about Fashion Police. You guys are creating headlines for a lot of different reasons. First of all, there was the entire exchange about zendaya and you made a comment on the show a lot of people perceived as racist, including zendaya. You apologized for it. By the way, she accepted your apology, but what did you learn from this whole experience . It is something i want to be really clear about that happened because i have never really spoken out about it. You know i made a reference to the hippie culture. I talked about a hippie perfume. In the editing process, some of the gestures were taken out. I made the peace signs and said bo hemo bohemian twice. But i find racism reprehensible. I dont tolerate it at all nor have i ever. Thats important for me to get out. That is the hardest part of all of this is that somebody could believe that i would have racial undertones in the things i do. Absolutely not. Given the way it was edited do you see why people took offense . Yeah. I see why people took offense. I feel like the joke was not edited in the proper way and thats just something i have to live with but its very important for me to just get out there and tell the real story. As a child, you are excited to go outside and play. Our children dont have that excitement because most likely after school theyre going home. If you dont find something, kids get lost. They hang out on the streets and committing crimes. Ive seen the kids fighting and arguing. Me myself my kids cant play here. When i was a kid, growing up here, we played here. Now its barren nothing to play with or play on. They are in desperate need of a playground. A playground. A playground. Senator, the people of passaic have spoken. And we heard them loud and clear about wanting a playground in their community, what is it going to mean to the people here . It is profound when you put a playground in a neighborhood it literally changes the spirit of a community. And it brings the community together. What made you want to come back . I didnt want to come back. People say that because of the failure of my talk show i had to come back. I am so glad i waited because im enjoying it. I respect the women and what everyone is going through and we are at different times. Back at 8 48 with seven steps you should take if you cant file your taxes on time. This year millions of americans miss that deadline. So what do you need to know with just ten days to go . Jean, good to see you. Good morning. The first thing is dont do nothing. Doing nothing gets very expensive. You have to file even if you cant pay. The penalty for not filing is 5 of what you owe per month up to 25 . Thats 10 to 20 times more than the penalty for filing and not paying. Because if you dont file then the irs generates a return based on what the company you work for tells them you made. Exactly. The irs gets information from two sources and the sources are supposed to true up. They are supposed to be the same and thats how you know what you owe and are not cheating. Few and if you dont tell them they base it on once source. You say figure out when you might be able to pay. Thats an important question to ask yourself. Right. There are different methodologies based on your timeframe. If you think you can pay within 30 days, just file the return. The irs is going to send you a bill and penalize you, but. 5 . A half of a percent of what you owe. It wont be a huge amount. If you think you can pay from 30 days to 120 days from one to four months essentially you want to ask for a shortterm payment extension. They are willing to do this. You have to ask for it. Youre going to be penalized but it wont cost you as much as going on installments. A lot of people qualify to have interest fees waived. This is what the irs calls the fresh start initiative. Theres a separate form to fill out but they are very clear. You have to be going through a hardship not just an inconvenience. It will require you to sell assets at a significant loss in order to qualify. We have gone from asking yourself when you might be able to pay. Now you need to ask yourself the question, how am i going to pay . Right. Its going to take you more than four months. The first is an installment agreement. If you owe less than 50,000 and can pay it within six years, they are willing to allow you to go on installments. There is a set up cost from 50 to 120. The lower cost is if you are willing to allow the irs to pull money from your bank account each month which drops the penalty from a half a percent to a quarter a percent. If you owe the irs money, it may be a red flag that you have got this whole thing figured out wrong in the first place. Yeah and you want to go back to adjust your withholding because you dont want this to happen year after year after year. And another option is to pay on a credit card. Before anybody says whoa thats a bad idea. If you have a zero percent credit card and you can pay within a year or two . You may very well be better putting it on that credit card but a high Interest Rate credit card no way. What if it is not about money, what if it is you just cant get it all together by april 15th. What do you do then . In that case fill out the extension. The irs will give you the sixmonth extension, but it is an extension for filing not paying. Pay what you think you owe them. Base it on last year just be careful that you dont want to undercut what you owe the irs by 10 or more or you pay a penalty. And by the way, people can file for free and always be careful with scams out there targeting taxpayers. You get a call from somebody saying they are the irs, they are not the irs. Hang up the phone. I will say this. There were issues with the show from even before episode one. You know such as come in and doing the show without joan rivers but yet keeping the format the same just didnt work. I think thats why it was a very smart move on the producers, for the producers to pull the show, reassess it and figure out what because Fashion Police is a fun great brand, but maybe if the focus is maybe on fashion. Maybe if were having fun not making fun, then the show could work. But thats what theyre looking at right now. A lot of people talk about your weight. Yeah. It must get old if for you after a minute. Do you kind of put that to rest too . Yeah. I never wanted to address my weight because when you know the truth and you know nothing is wrong why even talk about it. Who cares. But it became such a distraction. I posed pictures or do a red carpet. And all anyone talked about was my side profile and my weight. I had some great interviewing. No one cares. Nine out of ten comments is about my weight and not the moment were sharing. Are they truly concerned about your weight or are they jealous because you are so thin and a lot of them arent that are looking at you . I think different people have different motivations. Some people are concerned legitimately and i appreciate that. But when so many people say eat a burger it doesnt work. You mow what i mean . So what are you saying now . Even if i had an eating disorder i hope that people wouldnt approach it like that with a friend, eat a burger, gain some weight. We just have to really be careful with weight because whether youre overweight or under weight people have a tendency to be really cruel. A lot of people write books who have nothing to say. You are certainly not one of them. Coming away from it what have you learned the most . I learned a lot. Especially the past ive learned a lot. But in the past six weeks has obviously been a really hard tame. The Fashion Police incident was really tough for me because i found it just horrifying, you know. As i said early today with savannah, you know i dont tolerate racism in any way, shape or form. Its not something no way. No way. So that was horrifying seeing my name in those headlines when i was thinking, no no, no, thats not what it was. Its hard to get the truth out there when the narrative is out there in a certain way. I wanted the headlines to calm down and then i would have my moment to come here and talk about it and that i could clear the air at this point. But at the same time i learned that there is you got to just be careful. I take ownership for everything. I learned some very valuable lessons. Ive definitely learned who my friends are and arent.
