The marines are brought in to help the u. S. Embassy in baghdad. Just this morning, secretary of state john kerry said he will not rule out working with iran to help end the violence. Lets get to chief Foreign Correspondent richard engel. He made his way to baghdad. Richard, good morning to you. Reporter good morning, savannah. The u. S. Embassy is a mile from here to the west. Drove by a short while ago. The situation from afar looked calm. You dont see helicopters overhead evacuating. Some non essential stall are being vevacuated. Some taken out of the country. Similar steps taken by other embassies here in baghdad. This comes as the militants from isis are continuing to take iraqi territory. They have taken the town of tal afir. A town of 200,000 people. Close to the syrian border. They claimed to carry out a massacre. Troops loaded in a truck and lined up and executed. The video shows 150 iraqi troops killed executionstyle. The group claims it massacred around 1,700. Iraqi officials are not confirms that number. They are confirming that some sort of massacre took place. Here in baghdad, there is quite a bit of tension. The militants are only about 70 miles away at this stage, but we are starting to see the iraqi army mobilize for the first time. We got in a short while ago. We drove from the airport. We noticed the streets were practically empty. It took a few minutes to get from the airport. We saw lots and lots of Iraqi Military vehicles, heavy machine guns on the streets and in front of the airport to make sure none of the positions are taken. We have seen shiite militias driving in civilian cars and some dressed in uniforms and others dressed in black. We saw them drawing the barrels of the guns out the window. We saw other shiite militias have broken the city up in sectors each responsible for a particular neighborhood. There is not a feeling in baghdad that the city could em emtly taken over. Some people are leaving and non essential military staff are evacuated. And they are beefing up the embassy security. Richard engel in baghdad, thank you very much. Is weighing whether to get involved, how to get involved if it does so, but how much time is there to weigh options . Isnt time kind of the essence . Yes. And we have to recognize there are two things going on at the same time. Number one, the possibility that this Extremist Group will take over. A very rich and central part of the region and use it as a base as taliban did in afghanistan for attacks on america. Secondly, effectively the collapse of the entire post area political structure put in place a hundred years ago which threaten our friends and allies in the region. Theres no time for a long debate. I hope the president now that he has had a weekend to reflect on it will make quick decisions to help the iraqi government. As you know, the mantra among both parties in washington is no boots on the ground. Youve advocated for some troops on the ground. Not combat forces, but some troops to help the iraqis in this situation. I guess the question, though, is it possible to just dip your toe into iraq and not be pulled deeper into the conflict . Well, you have to decide at the outset what our interests are. I think as i just said we have two major interests here. And i think we can get involved and i think getting involved will involve not having combat troops on the ground, but probably having some American Military to help with intelligence and to spot the targets that would be targets of our air strikes. I think we need to do that. We have to do what we can to keep iraq whole, united, stable restabilize it. And keep it democratic. Those are our main interests in iraq. Investigators looking through two burned homes in San Francisco this morning trying to figure out what caused them to go up. Flames overnight. Theyre located in the Crocker Amazon neighborhood near interstate 280. The fire started outside the front door of the second story home, and quickly spread to a neighboring building. Four people were evacuated, theyre getting help from the red cross. And a couple of people were treated for minor injuries. Investigators have not figured out how that fire started, but they do say it is suspicious because of where it started. Today the medical examiner will perform an autopsy on a man who was found dead inside a stanford dorm room. He was found in a building on Mayfield Avenue near levinfield yesterday afternoon. Someone called 911 when they found the man unconscious. He was declared dead at the scene. Its unclear at this point where weather he lived in the dorm or just vitting. He was one of them, opening up in a rare interview and admitting everything to us. At my worst i was doing 100 pills per day, vicodin mainly. You were taking 100 pills a day . Yes. And you were seeing patients . Yes. That is frightening. Its very frightening. He was an internist work in the hospital er. He says for physicians scoring pill is easy. A lot of people are saying i would know if my doctor was high on pills. The truth of the matter is my patients didnt know i was using. Hes never been accused of harming a patient while stone but other doctors have. Our next best doctor is dr. Crust fer done. Hes seen here in this infomercial once billed himself as the best neurosurgeon in dallas. This is one of his farmer patients. You can barely walk. Correct. He went in for what the doctor called routine back surgery and came out partially paralyzed. Its my understanding that he was under the influence while performing surgeries. Cutting into people . Yes. Cutting into me. He claims the doctor was stoned while operating and removed part of his spinal cord. He turned me from a strong, healthy man into a crippled man. A dozen other patients say the doctor botched their surgeries too, turning some into paraplegics and quadriplegics confining them to while chairs. These two patients even died of he operated on them. Thats the kind of bottle the doctor had under his desk. In this recent deposition, one of his assistants testified he often drank at work. Then one of his friends described his drug use. There has been lsd, there has been cocaine. The doctor denies wrongdoing but when he was under oath he kept saying this. I take the fifth. Have you ever been under the influence of cocaine while you were taking care of a patient . I take the fifth. He declined our request for an interview and wouldnt answer the door when i showed up at his home in dallas. But he later called me to talk but said i wasnt allowed to record his voice. Have you ever taken drugs or alcohol within a few hours of a surgery . No. You deny that . While he hasnt been charged with any crime and the state medical board found any evidence that e h was on drugs or alcohol during surgeries, his license was revoked because he violated the standard of care. Dr. Loyd says its all too common. Hes been clean for ten years and says his fellow physicians need to take responsibility like he is now. Im not saying that theres not consequences. If ive harmed a patient and sees this interview and figured i harmed them, theres a price to pay for me. Youre willing to pay that price. Of course. In American Medical Association tells us if the doctor are abusing alcohol and drugs, they are the responsibility to avoid patients. But there is no federal law requiring them to take regular drug tests. But now lawmakers in california are actually trying to change that. Theyre proposing a bill that would force random drug testing on doctors. Dr. Loyd was so candid with you about his struggles does he still practice . Believe it or not, his patients never use noticed he was yooging. It was his father. He has no much to lose by doing this interview and hes just trying to help the doctors out there. Then they click together. You dont have to glue or nail it down. You pop it together. Youll leave a bit of space outside. Millions of videos online how to do it an how to lay wood. Its easy. If you want to glue it in, it prevents a hollow, knocking sound. Keep in mind staining an old hardwood, a lot of buyers want a thicker board. So this is worth more in the end. Strip out the old floor and do over. Thats the thing. Dont lay over the old flooring. Pull it out. Make sure its good and do it right. Lets move on. I hate when people are embarrassed to take us out on the deck. It does not take a lot of work to sand it down, clean it up. Theres products now that have the stain and seal in one so you dont have to do multiple coatings. Youd have to clean it properly before. If you have old flaking paint and stain over it, its going to pop off again. If you are replacing a deck or doing a new deck, use a constant material. Then you dont have to stain or do anything. If you want to become a professional clogger there it is. Then you can do that. But theres a lot of great product. If you are doing it yourselves clean it and give it a bit of time to dry. There are two burned homes in San Francisco trying to figure out what caused them to erupt in flames overnight. They are located near interstate 280. The fire started outside the front door of the secondstory home, quickly spreading to a neighboring building. Four people were evacuated and received help from the red cross. A couple of people were treated for minor injuries. Investigators have not concluded what kickstarted that blaze but they are calling it suspicious. Californias new budget includes 7 million for suicide nets on the Golden Gate Bridge. The board of director greenlighted the 66 million project with the last Environmental Impact four years ago. That followed years of testing of the suicide barrier system. However, construction couldnt begin until the funding was secured. The board of directors is set to talk about the bulk of that funding. Our mom had some very big struggles during my high school career. So i had to step up to be that second parent. I didnt have the privilege of going to a fouryear university because of this situation. 24yearold unica harris was still in high school when she decided a Vocational School for medical assisting, not a fouryear university was the route for her. An unlikely choice for a class val valedictorian. A lot of my friends that went to a fouryear are not working in the field that they actually went to school for. I have no student loans. I have no debt as far as school is concerned. And ive been working in my field that i actually went to school for for seven years. And for 30yearold lauren true, the trade school a path to a career. I got a bachelors degree in music. There werent any fulltime with benefits music positions. So i was browsing craigslist. And i saw medical assistant popping up over and over again. I thought it was a oneyear program and thought i could do that. Neurons are a singlenerve cell. As baby boomers age, the medical assistant program is expected to go up according to the bureau of labor statistics. This is well bo above the growth for all professions. Seattle Vocational Institute is among the accredited schools seeing higher enrollment. We have more of a concentrated focus on our students rather than a Large University setting. Students are enrolled in a oneyear program where they learn skills like performing injections, taking vitals, maintaining patient charts, and treating minor wounds. The advantages of entering a trade school is the shortterm training. Typically a student can complete a Program Within one year and return to the workforce and be able to make a livable wage. Plus a unique program where they gain actually realworld experience and a glimpse of what lies ahead. A promising professional career in medicine. Being a medical assistant is amazing, because we are actually the backbone of the clinic. We do a lot of the footwork that makes the clinics run. My mom said youre doing this wrong. Youve got to cook it right. Cook it to death. Boil it. About an hour. Then you want to leave it in the pot for about 30 minutes to rest. Then bring it out and you can sled all the meat up. Theres a lot of meat on a chicken if you look for it. And youre going to set aside some chicken for the males youll make later in the week. And some broth as well. So over here youre going to bring the broth up to a boil. And put my shredded chicken back in. And at the rice. I love cooking rice in broth. Growing up you would cook it in water and it didnt have a flavor. This is going to be incredibly homey and comforting. My children love it. Crowd pleaser. Here you have the broth thats swollen up and absorbed all of the liquid. Im just going to stir in a little bit of butter. My mom would not have done this, but shes not here. Watching disapprovingly at home. A ena little lemon juice. I want a little acid in here. Thats my finished one right here. You want it to be porridgy. Its like a risotto. Yeah. Really comforty, porridgy, soothing. Its going to stick to you. You got a growing boy in the house that puts down a lot of food. You want to finish it with a little black pepper. The flight is on the taxi way. And the kid keeps saying i have to go, i have to go. Youre on the taxi way. Were not 100 sure if the plane was moving or just waiting. We dont know all the details. But the mother was freaking and decided her kid was going to have to go to the bathroom. The Flight Attendant jumped up and said you cant go. You must stay in the seat. Guess what happened . The kid who had to go went. Went in the seat. Right. And then the mother i guess was freaking out because of that and then wanted to try to clean up her child getting the child out of the seat and stood up again and then then the cops were going to come. It was a whole they were going to take the child off the plane. Her name was jennifer devereaux. Anyway called down at the end of the day. An faa regulation you cannot be up and about when on an active runway. Who knows if they had been sitting there waiting three hours. Theres nothing more frustrating than to be sitting its like sitting on a Greyhound Bus practically, not moving. I just need to go over there and use the bathroom for one second. You cant explain it to a 3yearold or the Flight Attendant. Jetblue did apologize and offered her credit and a 5,000 rewards to the charity of her choice. His journey to become a member of the class of 2014 wasnt always a sure thing. Heres tyree in his own words. My biological parents have been gone for many years. When i was 6 heading to foster care, it was kind of rough. I didnt know too much about what was going on. I was young. All i move was i had to leave my biological mother. I kind of moved back and forth to homes, and it was really difficult. I fought. I screamed. I yelled. I cried. It hurt. You know . No kid wants to be put through that situation. My parents adopted me when he was 8. I just felt wanted. I felt accepted. Theres no better feeling than that. With my parents teaching me to value education, it had a huge impact on my success. You know, there are so many distractions from girls and sports, parties, and i have had all the distractions come my way, but just knowing that school is the priority and is number one, i was able to maneuver through all the distractions and still make it out on top. When i received my scholarship to Dickenson College i probably shed one tear. I didnt let anybody see it, though, but it was definitely a very joyful moment for me. Kind of difficult, so i tried to look for signs of acceptance in certain homes. Am i comfortable here . Do they really like me . It was kind of hard at times. How did you know that you had also chosen, you know, the right family . What was it about these two . I think the main thing was i remember when they first asked me, you know, do you want to be a our family, and im here, wait, i thought i already was. Yeah. It really felt good.
